I suppose I can't speak for all South Africans but I am always curious to see how the world perceives us...so, when an American embraces the country and vlogs about it, I tend to subscribe. Regarding the Biltong, unlike jerky (which is slow cooked) Biltong is air dried. The other thing with Biltong is that it is not just beef, meat from wild game like kudu, springbok, and wildebeest are very common. It is not unusual to come across fish, ostrich, and chicken biltong.

Biltong is how our grandparents use to reserve meat from being rotten. Because back then they didn't have freezers. Biltong is just dried meat

Hey I'm a Jersey boy who moved to Cape Town in 2012 and lived there until right before the pandemic. My wife (a Capetonian) and I moved back to Jersey but Cape Town is where my heart is. If you want to see some fun stuff nearby go to the penguin colony at Boulder Beach. Amazing spot!

You know we always look at Load Shedding in a negative light, I think there is a positive element to it. it forces us as a digitally driven society to take the time to disconnect for a while and exist in the reality of our surroundings and our world, which includes the people that inhabit it along with the relationships we have with those individuals. But hey maybe I'm just overreaching here

Eskom is doing maintenance at the power stations, that's why there is loadshedding, at least they let you know about the power cut. When they service your vehicle you don't complain you wait for 2 to 3 hours... People will always complain that's it.
Can have candle light Dinner during Load Shedding... That so Romantic 😂😂

I had to invest in those Magneto LED rechargeable lantern lights they have helped a lot to deal with loadshedding darkness. Lol!
At this point they need to pay me for that marketing..but it's true.
Loooove SA, I met my bf online, decided to go there and it was love at first sight. Not only for him, but for South Africa :) Load shedding is not nice, but...you kinda get used to it, when you have the luxury to stay home, you just chat in bed for several hours or by candle light.... eventho I'm so so glad that we don't have it here in Europe :D

When a country grows way too fast so suddenly the electrical grid most likely won't be able to keep up with the growth. So now we kinda stuck waiting for the grid to catch up and blah blah blah you get the point
For me, Ocean Basket has the best prawns with lemon butter sauce (get extra sauce and just put it over ther rice and chips if you take half half).
