- A pretty simple video, but this stuck out to me when I was completing the Retro Games for the Thieves Den. I looked and couldn't find a vid of this posted so far, so here it is. It's interesting this was added in Royal, and people who haven't seen the DLC outfits might not even follow the story.

I know this is an old video but when they confront Maruki for the first time during the Sumire/Kasumi reveal, Akechi says "All you really did was use her to try and make everyone acknowledge the validity of your research!". At the time I found it odd how certain and personally offended he felt. Now I understand

@@Bryan-ep4qj he was probably projecting his own experiences with scientists using teenagers to find out how to exploit the metaverse. after all wakaba used to work for shido before she pulled back. she was most likely the one doing tests on akechi to unlock his full potential
@@Bryan-ep4qj even if he’s not talking about wakaba but simply a scientist npc working for shido in his backstory, he’s probably sick of being a lab rat for the sake of the Greater Good and projected said experiences onto Maruki

Tinfoil hat in me says that Osagiri/Alya can also be a stand in for Yaldabaoth tbh
Alya saying that she thought there weren't any humans left "with a sense of justice", and the way Gray Pigeon was created and "trained" makes Alya seem more connected to Yaldabaoth than Shido imo

@@godoatthegoat2884 Yaldy and Igor are competing in a game. They are debating if humanity wants to be free or if it wants to be controlled. Joker is Igor's player and Akechi is Yaldy's. If Akechi wins then Yaldy wins and gets the "executive seat" to control humanity.

The fight against Osagiri reminds me of Akechi's rank 8 event; like how he mentions wanting to see your skills firsthand and telling Joker to act as though he intended to kill. It's probably nothing but it sparked some sort of idea?
Osagiri can't be Wakaba. Also, Alya is an alien, not a person.
So from what I believe Osagiri can be Yaldabaoth (impersonating Igor) or Shido. She can't be Wakaba, because she's an impersonation. Many people tend to forget that Yaldabaoth can be impersonating someone or using a front. As for Alya, you can see it as Yaldabaoth dropping off his mentor guise and going full destruction mode.
EDIT: The names of the characters don't seem to be coincidences either, Alya is a star called Theta Serpentis, and Yaldabaoth in Gnosis and Samael (Shido) in SMT are Snake creatures.
And for Akechi awakening a persona, I think that you don't take the experimental thing literally. It's probably metaphorical. Loki, as far as I guess, was awakened in the same way as Arsene. A.K.A. it was given by Yaldabaoth in a semi natural fashion.

Huh. I never played the featherman game I usually just play a game to get social stat points, but I never expected a game to foreshadow events of a character in it.

That's probably impossible, because Akechi actually approached Shido first with his special powers.
Unless Part 1 is just about Yaldaboath giving him the Nav in the first place.

Hm, maybe! But that would mean... Wakaba was experimenting on Akechi prior to the events of the story? That’d be a crazy twist
@@bainz I am just speculating from what I remember from the game: Wakaba was working for/with Shido in some way, since Sojiro was the bridge between the researchers and gov officials. Akechi killing Wakaba is like the Pigeon defeating Osagiri (although I doubt Wakaba challenged Akechi like Osagiri did lol)

Wish they added more retro games like this to give more subtext for other characters like haru and the confidants or maybe even the palaces
I’ve never played this mini game but this is super cool, one comment says that osagiri/alya stand for osagiri being wakaba and alya being shido, this makes sense since in the mini game gray pigeon defeats osagiri and after the fight they get replaced by alya. If we assume that wakabas mental shutdown was caused by aketchi the story should go somthing like this:
Wakaba and shido who work together are experimenting on cognitive research however shido is interested in mental shutdowns and wakaba is interested in something else. Together they artificially give aketchi a persona whose name is Robin Hood, they test out aketchi’s powers and soon shido decides he doesn’t need wakaba anymore and somehow convinced aketchi to kill wakaba via mental shutdown.
This is where ayla/shido replaces osagiri/wakaba. Shido decides he wants to use aketchi for his own personal gain, somewhere in the story before wakaba dies aketchi awakens to Loki somehow and shido sees this as an opportunity for himself to become prime minister. In the end aketchi/gray pigeon dies to save the phantom thieves/the power ranger dudes from alya/shido.
This is pretty accurate in my mind with the only hole being how aketchi got Loki since in the mini game gray pigeon awakens before saving the power rangers but that’s not what happens in the actual game since mental shutdowns occur before shido palace.
Akechi couldn't have awakened to Robin Hood first. Futaba states that Robin Hood was born from Akechi's 'lies', i.e his detective personality, while Loki was born of his 'hate', his resent towards Shido and society as a whole.
You forget this. Osagiri was an impersonation. There's no such thing as Osagiri, so it can't be Wakaba. I think it's either representing Yaldabaoth using Shido as a front, or Yaldabaoth impersonating Igor.

There's something else I wanted to mention... The text at 10:24 reminded me of one of Akechi's navi lines for Disaster Shadows exploding th-cam.com/video/MrcPADuw4JA/w-d-xo.html "Yes! Blow everything to smithereens!" This may be an incredibly dumb connection I'm making...
It's a connection I hadn't thought of at least! If some of the theories about these scenes are true, it'd be wild that they put lore in as obscure a place as this mini-game. (Also, why make and voice Disaster Shadow lines for Akechi, but put no Disaster Shadows when we have him for the nav...)
Im very late, but I think instead of it being Wakaba and Shido, its yaldaboath and shido. The dialogue of Alya makes it seem like Yaldaboath and the reveal of who they really were lines up with false Igor revealing himself as the holy grail/yaldaboath.
I personally think Akechi originally had Loki as well. Loki had the ability to turn people psychotic, so why would he go to Shido prior to having that ability? Im assuming he gained Robin Hood as a persona later in the game as a way to disguise himself.
It just fits well since he wouldn't be all that useful to Shido with that ability and it seems like Loki is his preferred persona as seen in Royal, meaning he probably didnt awaken to Robin Hood first as it does not reflect his true personality

I honestly don’t believe it’s Wakaba but a team of researchers that were hired by Shido or even metaphorically Shido. Shido stole her research as well as Maruki’s and Goro confirmed the existence of this team of researchers
The silver outfit looks the best.

Probably not gonna get a response but do you think you can make a viable asterius build and make use of his trait Frienzied bull? It scales damage according to missing health when HP is below 50%.
Asterius’ trait doesn’t actually scale damage based on HP lost (that’s a mistranslation on one of the fusion calcs I believe), but it does double dmg when below 50% HP. So a build would just be using Asterius’ move Titantomachia or another strong move
Personally, I believe that Alya represents Yaldaboth, with the experiment being the game's version of the competition Akechi (and Joker) were unwittingly thrown into coupled with his manipulation by Shido, although Akechi was more aware of Shido's nature than Gray Pigeon was of Alya's. Both him and Joker were mislead by Yaldaboth, but it feels like Akechi was put on the losing side, especially with no Igor-made guide. It makes me wonder how much of Akechi's path was constructed by Yaldaboth and how much was the result of natural circumstances, because the series of events seems rather convenient for Yaldaboth's game. There's no way Akechi's actions could be fully justified even with supernatural interference, but I wonder if it was just "Yaldaboth gave Akechi a Persona then fucked off" or if he exerted more power to ensure Joker and Akechi would go against each other.
Is it just me or does Akechi's featherman outfit in the thumbnail kinda look like Naoto's shadow

Naoto's shadow is a reference to another old school Tokusatsu hero called Kikaider.
So if we were to assume that akechis got his persona by experimentation. Then would it be safe to assume that the same person(s) that gave strega their personas gave akechi his persona?
Akechi looks more like the white ranger, but he acts more like the green ranger. Maybe in Neo fetherman they’re switched.

Why is Joker’s stance while playing game seem so.... passive-aggressive? Can he take off his glasses for once, his opaque glasses plus a somewhat homeless-looking fashion add up to create a threatening aura.

I wouldn't call it a sacrifice; Akechi only stopped a couple of shadows and Shido's cognition of him from attacking the group. I'm almost certain they could've easily beaten them. To me, it seemed that Akechi was either letting himself be killed or faking his death so as to avoid punishment for what he's done or because he simply didn't have a strong enough "will of rebellion" to continue on (I know I'm looking too deep into this).
I kind of doubt he’d fake his death to avoid consequences, imo it could’ve either been his own way of atoning for what he’s done by basically offing himself or just a really unnecessary sacrifice because cmon, a cognition with a gun and three shadows? That wouldn’t be too hard to fight lol
Interviews recently confirmed that Akechi is probably dead and the one we saw in Maruki's reality and at the end of the game are just illusions of the player wanting to see him again.
@@kellyjohana516 …I know that I’m likely being fueled by Copium but even if the Third Sem Akechi was like a fake Akechi it doesn’t fully mean he’s dead, besides I do find it a bit illogical that the Akechi at the end is fake b/c like, there were still those guys in suits escorting him or whatever
