I think the moral from this video is, be extra careful on river crossings! Don't think I would last too long if I fell in. I believe its the hot season in your part of the world, here in Canada there's lots of snow and the bike won't be out for a few more weeks, so am jealous. Looking forward to your 850/ AT comparison and it would be interesting to hear if you considered other bikes apart from the Honda. Thanks.

Hi David, how is it going? It´s summer here in Brazil but the region of Pantanal is like the Amazon. Because of the high humidity, the thermal sensation is around 50 degrees celcius. Because the road goes through the National park it´s unbearable at times. Also, you cannot stop the bike often because of the mosquitoes. They come in hundreds to bite you. During the crossing I wondered how one could cope with a tyre change in the middle of that baking hot full of mosquitoes environment. I plan to record a video but I can antecipate that they are very similar but there were reasons which justified the change. I would also consider the Yamaha Tenere 700. As a matter a fact, it would be my first choice of all but Yamaha don´t import them to Brazil because it would be necessary to adapt the bike to our noise /polution and import regulations. The bike needs to have a minimum percentage of components made by the local industry. It´s strange because we have the mt07 which has exactly the same engine. Anyway, in this range, at presente we only have 3 options here: f850, triumph 900 and the AT1100. We are looking forward for the transalp 700, which will probably come as well. All the best

@@MrLuk78 I think you're a lot tougher than I am Leandro, 50c with the humidex would be difficult. We do get summer days of 36c here in central Canada, maybe 40 with the humidex. I actually wanted the T7 myself, but there was a waiting list and the 850 I have was a demo and I got a very good deal. Interesting that your government won't allow the importation of the T7, but here in N. America they make it difficult to import cars. The new Aprilia Tuareg 660 might have eclipsed the T7, but there are few dealers here. I like your new A/T, it looks like a bike that could really do serious long distance travel, look forward to the review.

@@davidcarter6737 Pantanal is extremely hot and unconfortable between Nov and Feb. Here in Sao Paulo it does not get as near.
As for the bike, the f850 is an excellent bike in all respects. It´s very similar to the AT with some extras techs, more logical positioning of buttons, less fuel autonomy and a just a bit more weight.
The bikes have differences in power delivery. The F850 delivers just a little bit more between 1000/3000rpm and AT is a beast after that. I suppose it is because here in f850 comes with a larger sprocket on the rear wheel.
For my needs, I´d say that the major advantage of Honda and Yamaha bikes is that here in South America you can service them in every corner if needed. You can find parts a lot more easily than bmw and triumph. Also parts are a lot cheaper.
At the end of the day, every bike has pros and cons. You have to find one that fits your specific needs. i decided to give AT a try. after almost 12 years owning BMWs.
As for Aprilia, we don´t have dealers here in Brazil. The Brazililian market does not digest well anything different than the japanese brands (all of them), bmw and triumph.
Even KTM tried to bring an assembly plant here. Didn´t last too long.
