    Moved into a house with a whole-house humidifier. This was super quick and helpful for me to understand how to get it going for the season. Thanks so much!!!

    Informative video. Appreciate the time you took to educate everyone. Don't understand all the down votes. I'm pretty sure everyone who visited this video left with more knowledge than when they came in.

    Why wasn't my humidifier working? Because I did not have the damper open during winter! Also I cleaned my evaporator pad and found out that was a no-no, so now I am buying a new one. Great video, just a regular guy showing how simple this can be!

    Does mildue or mold grow in the ducts, on the filter, or anywhere around the humidifier? I live in humid Georgia and mildue grows very easily. Thank you so much for this video! It's awesome!

    Should the drain tube have a curl in it that keeps water in it & goes into a plastic tube that is connected to to the drain tube from the furnace, that goes into the floor drain. Or should the tu e from the humidifier go straight down. The fellow hooked our drain tube up with a big curl in it, that always has water in the bottom of the curl.... it floods a bit from my floor drain, for the furnace when it starts up...

    Thanks Jeremy for making a wonderful video!
    I had a DRUM type Humidifier installed by the earlier owner. It was not working so, my contractor replaced it by Honeywell Humidifier model HE225H8908. After 4 years now I find water is continuously coming out of the drain tube. Feel more dry inside home. Never replaced the filter.
    Do I need to replace the filter or go back to the DRUM type Humidifier?

    Thanks much. I wish you had shown how to open that line going to the solenoid valve. I'll be doing the basic things myself. Just found out that there's a HVAC company that charges $245 to do what you just did. They sucker you in with an $89 special on furnace cleaning.

    So what about cleaning old filter with 50/50 vinegar? Or minus white coating won’t work?

  • @ruththomaspardoski2577

    Should the filter feel wet? Ours is new, and water runs all the time, but the humidity level is the same when the unit is off. Our house is so dry, we're really frustrated with the unit.

    Do you put the rubbery material side up when putting top bracket back on or put the material side down? My Carrier Water Saver Bypass fit just perfectly with material side up but I wondered if that was put in correctly.

    If the solenoid is stuck open can that cause water to constantly drain out through the drain tube?

    You can install it on either duct. The information is hidden in the directions, but it's there.

    question on the lines what do you have to do to unclog them due to not changing the filter possibly

    • @RichardFallstich
      @RichardFallstich 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did they ever reply? There are 2 "lines" on a humidifier like this [supply & drain]. A water supply line, which is turned on and off by the solenoid. It should also have a manual shut-off valve somewhere, likely hear the connection to the house water pipe/tubing. It is extremely unlikely the supply line will clog, for any reason. This is where he talks about "plugging up." I have this type of humidifier and fairly hard water. In 20 years I never had this "plug-up." The "pin orifice" he mentions would be part of the solenoid valve - not part of the supply tube. This would be the most likely place for a clog. You would have to shut the water off and remove the solenoid valve to clean it. Replacing it may be easier, and they are not too costly.

    • @sandrafinney7671
      @sandrafinney7671 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had this humidifier and never changed the filter before, It seems that something leaked causing the furnace to rust not sure what is clogged. There is a tube that runs but you are saying the pin orifice is where the clog is. Would this cause the water to go down to furnace?

    doesn't stop the water flow. I shut off both the one near the hot water tank and the one near the humidifier, additionally, the garage ceiling panels were soaked and came down. I could not get the meter to shut off properly(and it would not even with a key) I had to get someone from the city to come out additionally a plumber! I wish the idiot who lived here before me had fucking insulated his pipe! i wish he had not modified the house! god damn it! also it is 5 degrees last night and 20 today!
