I live in Cambridge, and have been very interested in this Historic building. I am very sad to see so much damage and vandalism in this building. I did talk to a man many years ago who was trying to restore the building to be a Seniors Residence again, but like many others before him, he ran out of money. I was fascinated to walk through the building with you, only to be disappointed in it's condition. Thank you for a peek into such a Historic building for our City, now Cambridge. Brenda

Thank you for exploring this building and posting this. The building was just torn down a few days ago (between Dec. 31 2020 and Jan 5, 2021). I grew up in Preston and visited the Preston Springs around 1978 or ‘79 when our school choir visited to sing Christmas carols. I distinctly remember the lobby being very lovely and the elevator being quite cool - the elevator was a brass accordion style and someone who worked there let my friend and I look inside and I believe it had to be cranked to go to the next level. We were served cookies after singing and were supposed to say hi the the older people; I recall being rather frightened of them as they were mostly slumped in chairs (from the perspective of my 8 year old self). So thank you! Now that this building is gone, I’m so glad there is a record of what it looked like, even if it was a mess.
I use to work there, many years ago when it was a retirement home.it certainly was a grand place back in its day!...such beauty and lots of history....it breaks my heart to see just the empty shell its become. The elevator was awesome!..as for ghosts/ spirits they are there, I've had my own experiences. you will notice you have a few orbs floating around the main staircase which your camera caught....I hope someday someone will bring the place back to life!
I was wondering if you could tell a bit more about the ghost and spirits. I have been looking on stories about this place but have come up short of any stories.
I was last inside this building in the early 1970s. My great grandmother lived there from age 97 to 102. My family and I visited her often. Riding the old manual elevator was a trip. It was a grand old building at the time. And a shame that this is where it is now.
i used to work there in the kitchen in about 1985. I was at the dishwasher and heard a baby crying. There were no babies or young kids anywhere nearby. I thought I may had just imagined it. A minute later the cook who was working about 15 feet away from asked me . . . . 'Did you just hear a baby crying' I was skeptical of ghosts before this event. i had also heard of stories where staff would walk into the laundry room at the start of a shift and one of the dryers was running.
Thanks for sharing. I lived in Kitchener before 2008 and always wondered what it was like instead. Unfortunately the building was demolished this morning.
Thank you for sharing this. I fondly remember the last time I was in there, which was sometime in the 80s. It was Christmas time and our school choir from Preston Public was singing for the residents. The fire place was lit as we sang in front of the beautiful old staircase. I have often admired the entrance - wondering what it was like to walk through those doors back in its' days of glory. It breaks my heart to hear it will soon be torn down. :(

I really hope something is done with it rather than leaving it a shell. I read that the last attempt at renovating it ended when they realized that there was no way to update the hotel to current standards and the rooms were too small for people now adays to want to stay there.
Looks like they are going to likely demolish the building. too much structural damage. The building is a public safety risk, and an "Order to Remedy an Unsafe Building" was issued.. not sure if they will go through with it as it may be declared a heritage building .. but i suspect it will be gone in a year or two. anything they were to put in there would fail, there is no real parking in the area.. Firstly, a local businessman, living in Preston, was the last to attempt the renovation and running as a retirement home, but it took too much money. Secondly, the baths would have been left for installation in the latest attempt at renovation. They looked like they got a good start on it, judging by the condition of the struts used (of the type currently sold in the renovation stores). Vandals look like they have had a lot of "fun" recently, which probably explains the progressively smashed windows and the boarding up, we notice when we drive by. Thirdly, a friend who is into local history, tells of times when it was a hotel. Babe Ruth and the team he was on, would come here and they would practice in Riverside Park, before the baseball season started, staying at the hotel. It is a shame that some folk have no respect for the past, or the property of other people.

@@Freaktography The ghost thing. There was a night watch men who was driving up the road and saw a light on and there have been no one in the building for years. He fell the full flight of stairs and never saw anyone. He never went back into the building. The room to the left of the lobby with the decorated ceiling used to be the dining room and the last time I saw it it was full, wall to wall and to the ceiling of bed frames.
There is also a ramp that they would take the coffins up and out the back door, Did you know a kind came and stayed there for the sulfur spring waters.
Just saw a Newspaper Article about it Being Demolished, due to it being Unsafe. I gotta' say that those Wall Supports made of Metal are Very Expensive, and are Designed to Never Weaken or Rot, like Wooden Ones. It Did look as though there was Attempts to Renovate in there... I hope the Supports were Removed, so they could be Resold for Another Build, somewhere...!!!
the smell is the sulpher. the hotel iw built over top of the well/spring. if you walk up the driveway to the cress condominiums you will smell the sulpher coming from the creek thaqt passes under the driveway closer to King street.
PSA at around 11.10 and 15.55 there are very loud and unnecessarily disruptive audio edits. Turn your speakers/ headphones DOWN before getting to these parts. They just announced that due to safety reasons demolition will be starting in early 2021 due to safety concerns. Going to be a lot of increased traffic on this video because of this .
Used to go in to this building a lot with my friends as a kid had A lot of creepy encounters it’s a shame they demolished it, the basement is where the action is and the top floor is very sketchy, at 7:02 time stamp used to be the window we would use for entrance where it shows the 2+2 = 4 , then they covered it so we had to gain access through the new area which you seen earlier in the video. Sheeeesh the memory's I am getting right now watching this video are great good times and super scary at night.
Wish they had kept it. Depressing that they tore it down. The sewage smell was probably the sulphur springs. The last guys to try restoring it reconnected the spring but didn't do a good job of making sure it would shut off when they wanted it to.
On December 24 2020, Cambridge Chief Building officer issued and emergency demolition order. On December 31, demolition began. The building was completely demolished by late Sunday January 4. Clean up to be completed within a week.
The building looks majestic and structurally unique from the outside. It has historic origins dating back 129 years ago.The govt. should make it compulsory to save and preserve the building for future generation. If action is not taken quickly, the decay and damage to the original building would be difficult and costly to repair. According to Dave's narration, there were 3 renovations projects but somehow or rather was abandoned. Maybe it was too costly, maybe due to haunting, who knows. The Mayor or Governor of the State should bring up the matter and urge the govt. to be involved with the project of restoring the building before it's too late. As usual, Dave is always alone in his quest to quench his base/supporters who are always thirsty for his exploration videos. He is brave and seems not to fear the unknown. Not me. I wouldn't dare enter the building alone, even during day time. I've phobia for zombies and blood sucking vampires who might be lurking in the dark corners of the building. I was expecting some haunted stuff to happen, maybe shadows darting by. Unfortunately nothing of that sort. But anyway, thanks Freaktography for the eerily beautiful video.

Just try to not meet any dope heads on your way in/out would be freaky
I worked there right till the place closed . I remember the time when house keeping would find the laundry machines running and no one is there to start them. The elevator going up and down no one on it. Baby's crying and no baby. People laughing and no one is there. On the third floor you'll see holes in a door in the east side, bullet holes from me and my boss. The building was closed for about a week and we were patrolling the building for trespassing. Got to the third floor and all of a sudden we heard yelling and saw a person running at us with something in it's hand I got cut by what ever it was my boss open fired at it and I did to then we went after the person. No one was around. I was bleeding on my arm, so we know it was real and there's twelve bullet holes in the east side door going to a guest room. The last room.

Just. 5 minute drive away from this place! So much history.
Very awesome video my friend.
the smell is the sulpher. the hotel iw built over top of the well/spring. if you walk up the driveway to the cress condominiums you will smell the sulpher coming from the creek thaqt passes under the driveway closer to King street.
Thanks for the insights

Always wanted to go in this building, its has since been torn down.wondering what will be in this space next :)
4:57 Nice to see that people are also keeping up on their arithmetic, 2 + 2 = 4, BRAVO!!! XD LOL!!!
This building is no longer standing. It was torn down recently.
This building was just torn down, completely. As of January 2021. Sad times.
Wish they had kept it. Depressing that they tore it down.
The sewage smell was probably the sulphur springs. The last guys to try restoring it reconnected the spring but didn't do a good job of making sure it would shut off when they wanted it to.
The basement is a natural mineral spring
Hah and smells like rotten eggs
How did you get in ?
On December 24 2020, Cambridge Chief Building officer issued and emergency demolition order. On December 31, demolition began. The building was completely demolished by late Sunday January 4. Clean up to be completed within a week.
The building is still standing but , the inner most is ridiculous. A lot of vandalism there.
thanks for watching, it's a beautiful old structure!
Finally get to see it as it is half torn down wow thanks
No ghosts, but you can see the whole structure.
They want to fix/renovate it?
Thanks for the video.
Thanks for sharing your adventure at that humanguos building that's abandoned . God bless 😇 you until your next adventure. 👍👍👍
thanks so much
The building looks majestic and structurally unique from the outside.
Go down stairs you see ghost and jinn
Thanks a million for your likes to my comments. God bless 😇 you always. 👍👍👍. Thanks.
my pleasure!
Looks like the place was once stripped with intention to renovate it and it just never happened. So sad.
There's been a few attempts of fixing it up but because of money ect that never happened.
If you look at the part where the staircase is you can see small orbs moving around
This place was amazing really enjoyed it and the history of it thanks for your hard work nope there was no ghost in this one LOL
wow never did see in side its a shame to see it in bad shape out side looks kinda ok so will they ever do any thing with it or will they tare it down?
You can see the attempted renovations on the top floors with the dry wall and all the tub enclosures. Maybe someone can pull it together.
lets hope, its a beautiful building
I'm local. The developer was looking for investors to sign on. He invented 9 million up till then. 30 days from now it's to be torn down

How did you get in. Asking for a friend
haha, it was surprisingly easy
@@Freaktography But how from behind?
That One Kid yeah dude, wrap around the eighth side of the building and in the back there a a hole that prolly shoulder level, climb up then jump in you will be in the basement/ boiler room, that’s probably the creepiest room in my opinion. Just try to not meet any dope heads on your way in/out would be freaky
great video, but my god! that horrible loud noise part way through - twice! could you not equalize the volume?
Unfortunately this building was demolished in January 2021.
It stinks because of the spring below. Sulphur.
Unfortunately the hotel was deemed unrepairable and has been totally demolished though its heritage credentials and protests by the community.
I was allowed in here a decade ago
Well done mate.
Who is mate
Aussie expression. From one bloke (male) to another bloke (another male) as a compliment we typically say 'well done mate' or 'good job mate". @@vikasbist1609
Being torn down right now.
Sadly it was demolished and no longer exists
