    To save future headaches, if you're attempting this and Vjoy will not install (just gets to the end of installation and never finishes) you need to unplug all devices from your computer, besides your mouse ofc, and then install it and it will work! Couldn't get this to work for days until I found a 6 year old reddit post that said to do that. Thanks for the video Matt!

    Thanks for the output file! I tried to do this before and didn't realize you could add more controls, so I was limited to 30 or whatever the default was.

    matt you make me so happy, the file and video I know are going to make this a breeze

    I'm using it with an arduino leanordo instead of vjoy. Never had problems with swapping 'in car'. With the special function button option, basically a shift button, you can assign two mappings to controls. Basically doubles the amount of controls. For example I have the pitlimiter mapped with the special fn button so I can't press it by accident. My fn button is on the top left of my wheels and my shift down paddle shifts up by pressing FN button +paddle. Very handy to free up right hand on straights to adjust other controls or have a drink.

      I can’t believe I havnt thought of this. I use a modifier just like that for other controls but I always make stupid mistakes or get off tracks when I try to go to my mouse with the right hand and use my left hand to drive and reach over to upshift.

    Having issues with setting this up. Allows me to bind vjoy to the drive section of iracing (launch trigger, exit/tow, look left and right) but when i switch to any other controls and click simulate it wont bind a button in iracing for vjoy/sim hub. Really frustrated. If anyone knows how to fix this i would really appreciate it.

      Same boat here. I have no idea what stopped the connection. Nothing changed.

      @@OutKartnAround figured mine out. vjoy wasn't downloading properly and not getting the configuration part of the download. had to disconnect all usb jacks to pedals, wheel and button box then redownload. opened the configure vjoy file and changed it to 128 butttons and has worked ever since.

      other idea to try is under controller mapping tab in sim hub where you can check disable, vjoy or bridge. switch from vjoy to disable then back to vjoy. i have to do that when i switch wheels to get my connection back.

    Is there any latency with different shifters? With other buttons I don't think it would be as much an issue as trying to downshift multiple times into a corner

    Thanks Matt, I'm keen to do this, but I've found the "Use Custom Controls for this Car" option solves the problem of FFB settings being different per car, initially I had to tweak the iRacing FFB strength each time I changed cars. Did you encounter this issue and if so, how have you solved it without the "custom controls per car" setting?

    • @MattMaloneTV
      @MattMaloneTV  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I adjust it when I switch cars which I find to be just a slight annoyance. Maybe one day iracing will allow us to bind FFB to a rotary dial.

    • @moze8272
      @moze8272 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MattMaloneTV yeah ok, fair point - certainly less of an annoyance than having to update all the wheel bindings separately! I guess it would be great if iRacing would allow separation of input bindings and FFB configs, so we could have per car FFB, but leave the global input bindings. Maybe, one day...

    • @Chader9
      @Chader9 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I could be wrong, but if you start and follow Matt's instructions and "get done". Then you can turn on the Custom per Car" option which will capture and repeat FFB.
      The one catch is that you should never change any other setting in iRacing with that setting checked. If/when you do need to make a change to the universal settings. uncheck that box the make that change. Finish by re-checking the Custom box and I think you will still be matched with FFB separate.

    Question, will this work between Asetek wheels? I have a Forte formula wheel and thinking about a Forte button box + round rim, but I don't know if they will be recognized as separate devices. It didn't do that when I had separate rims for my Moza R9 previously

  • @test868
    @test868 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have multiple rims and went down the "Use custom controls for this car" rabbit hole. Can someone send a search party? Tomorrow night's job is to sort this goddam mess out using the tips in this video. I have a swear box ready for business - proceeds going to Sim Racers Anonymous.

      It worked and life is good. Really appreciate you sharing the file, that helped save A LOT of time. I just need to figure out how it deals with dual clutches (a couple of my wheels have them and others don't).

  • @christopherlees3684
    @christopherlees3684 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    All sounds convoluted when you can map buttons per car in iRacing if you use specific rims for different cars

    • @MattMaloneTV
      @MattMaloneTV  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      That's great until you need to make a Universal change and have to do it to each car

    • @Chader9
      @Chader9 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MattMaloneTV not to mention the need to do all the mapping when you buy a new car or get a new wheel for one car (or more) in sim. There is some setup in both cases, but this methods seems the best via tying the control scheme to the wheel, with universal values in sim applied to all cars. Sort of a Pay Me Now or Pay Me Later option. This is some work up front that doesn't need repeated.
