Sparrows is aiming towards the novice pickers and people who like to practice on a single lock for a time. Between this and the pair of balls you reviewed recently, they also seem to be going for a particular aesthetic.
Loving how Sparrows are coming out with different tools to assist the Lock sport community. Not everyone works with a vice in their garage, and now having these latest innovations; to make life easier when you have a moment or two to work on your hobby is a godsend 👍
This is great as I don't have a dedicated place to practice. Sometimes at the kitchen table, sometimes at a bench at work and usually on my lunch break in my work truck. This would work great as don't use a vice & holding cylinder lock by hand only makes picking even harder.
This is pretty awesome, way more convenient if I want to pick while watching TV or something, rather than using my vice. Totally getting one of these ASAP.
I own one and damaged the threading on the lock housing end. Used a different cylinder (sfic style) and the threading almost matched. But I ended up getting a very fine ribbon of steel the came off the threads after turning it in. The original sparrows core still works but I wasn't too happy with myself afterwards. Be cautious if using any other style of screw in lock cylinders.
My "travel practice locks" consist of a plastic bag with two or three locks and my picks. It's heavy, bulky, and doesn't stand up to wear and tear. This would solve all that and then some. This has just gone on my wishlist.
i got into lockpicking as a pass time when covid hit from stumbling upon one of your videos. i've now got a friend, a brother, and a boss who think im into some shady business because ive helped them out when they misplaced their keys. its kind of addicting. ive watched so many of yours and LPL's vids. i really appreciate the work you put into making your vids. you are a great teacher. thank you. keep up the great work.
Looks like it's really well made and a pretty novel idea. Not sure I'm rushing out for this one but I like that Sparrows keeps on plugging in the innovation department 👍
I went out and bought one based on Lock Noob's recommendation. I agree with you 100%. It's convenient if you want to practice on a particular lock or, if you've got some time to kill, but don't have access to your vise, this is very convenient. You don't even have to carry any extra picks with you.
Helpfull hint. Use a Dremel to cut the tab on the back of the lock. It's not like you will ever use this lock for anything else. You will get 360 travel with a key and 179 from picking. This gives you the satisfaction of an open. I love this product!!!
Great quality, as usual, from the good people at Sparrows. That cylinder could also come in handy as a self defence device in case of an attack. Thanks Mr. Bill.
Fantastic design/innovation from Sparrows. Seems perfect for LockSport enthusiasts who travel often! Great way to enjoy lock picking while the wife is driving. They need to make an adapter for European & SFIC cores!
That looks about perfect to have when traveling for work. Sure you gotta buy all your favorite picks over again. But it could stay in the suitcase like the spare bathroom supplies. Bam, right there for some practice time anywhere you have traveled. Looks like more than enough room for a mat and extra pins springs etc.
Or keep it in your pocket on customer calls to fix locks. Put a few tools in the handle and use it to test freshly reconfigured cylinders when someone needs an odd number of cylinders for their home or small business and the factory sets contain one less keyed-alike cylinder.
this is so cool. since covid im out of work and dont have alot of money and ive been looking for an inexpensive hobby and something like tis with some picks and a lock seems reasonable and with all your videos i can learn a lot. looks like so much fun.
I just got one of these. If you are talking to Sparrows perhaps they could 1) do an insert so you could put a euro or oval in it 2) make the barrel end big enough to put the key in.
Sparrows are having a laugh with you, Bill! But it's a great idea. I would be inclined to use the bag to contain the picks and to stop them from rattling around inside the shaft. Thanks! 🙂👍
Seems like a great stash box. When legal types snooping around, they spread a lot of time at the lock end and miss the easy open other end. (Unless they also use the Internet)
When I first saw this I thought that it was pretty cool but I couldn't see me using it. The more times I see it reviewed I get closer to wanting to buy one 🤣
Great review. I have one and use it all the time! However, NOT all other brand cylinders will fit into the Sparrow's Sceptre. The training lock kit from "LearnlockPicking.com" will NOT fit it due to the larger/raised set screws of its chamber set screws. I just found out the hard way.
Yup - and also here in Australia, rim cylinder locks, and other mortice locks are fractionally different in diameter (presumably the difference between imperial and metric - we're all metric). So the only lock I have that fits in the Sceptre is the Sparrows training lock that came with it! I need to try and get some USA cylinder locks.
I would probably put a material lining inside so it doesn't sound like a jingle sleigh with all the lockpicking tools sliding around. Nice product idea though!
I really like the idea of the sceptre but my issue with it is that the lock slot isn't long enough for some of the commercially available locks like the De Guard.
Is there a way to get into contact with you I have a vintage coin bank that I don’t have the key for and would like to open and any help would be much appreciated
Could you make this out of a flashlight? I'd like something like this that doubles as a flashlight and put picks in a case so they aren't in their jingling.
Really struck a chord with me! I've been watching your videos for a couple years and have a few padlocks and a pick set that I found. So finally pulled the trigger and got the Sceptre with training lock and a Tuxedo kit. Either through dumb luck, or having watched enough of your videos, I picked the lock within a couple minutes, finding the right tension was the hardest part. So, is there a good 'kit' with follower/forceps and security pins you would recommend to allow me to create more challenges?
@@bosnianbill I got the Sparrows Reload kit. Four keys with matching pins, extra driver pins and a nice selection of security pins, extra springs, 2 small mats and a follower for $17. Should keep me busy for a while, the first key swap was quite an education in patience!
Are you meant to store a Sceptre on a shelf with a Trophy Sphere at either side? Regardless of storage issues I think my shopping list just got longer.
I can see why you reviewed the Sparrow's balls separately from the Sparrow's shaft.
Brilliant hahaha
Lol
I see. like that kid In school who rearranged my teachers snacks into a inappropriate thing lol
2 oranges and a banana
😂 10/10
I just bought one of these, now for some fun.

Man, first those spheres and now this. Sparrows and you are a great combination.
This is exactly what I have been looking for! I like to practice on my lunch break and need a better way to store pics and hold a lock. Buying today

I'll be getting one. I'm a truck driver, I have lots of time while getting loaded and unloaded to pratice. This will stand up to the trucking life!
Which of these new training tools felt more comfortable in your hand, the balls or the shaft?
Thank you for keeping the ruler in the background to give an idea of size.
Not including batteries with a new flashlight is one thing but coming without the lamp is just going too far! 👀

The Sparrows Locksport Lightsaber & Self-Defense kubaton.

I swear that's the best man, you're really gracious
My brother got one of these recently. Very nice way to pick from the hand.
I saw the tube and said what is Bill doing with a Light Saber ...
Now I get it!
Very cool idea..and a container for the picks 👍
Thanks Bill
Thank you BB. I ordered one before seeing this and waiting for it to arrive and now more happy and looking forward to it arriving

Looks like that if you add batteries it will turn into a lightsaber. Thanks for the video 🔒👍
Great looking and useful, nicely machined. Thanks Bill for showing us. 👍🏻
I like this design a lot more than the ball design. Still it is great having options, especially ones that look awesome!

Just use a small format IC core mortise housing
I love this because of bad fingers, I can't grip a lock well, so for me this and the spears cube is a handicap tool for me
Thank you Bill!
may the force be with you. young Bosnianbill :_:
Great review Bill..they sent this too the right person too review. 😎
Cool and unique idea.. sparrows seems to lead the way with the "thinking outside the box" product offerings 👍🏻
That is such a clever practice device! Thanks for sharing it with us.
What a team: Bosnian Bill and Sparrows!
Ok, that's awesome! What a neat design.

Flashlight where you have to pick the lock to turn it on 🤣

Made for sweaty palms...or for more grip when throwing it into the field. That's where I keep a lot of the tools for my combine.
What a great idea. Awesome video.
Nice travel kit.
It should come with the two training balls.
That is on my wishlist. I’ve registered for the giveaway. Would be a nice addition for my cylinder locks when I get to leave the house again.
I really like it. But I wish it split in two at the middle instead of opening at the bottom so you could use the bottom half as a little pick holder.
Looks awesome
Ohhhh new video to watch from bill 👍
They are nice. I bought one a few weeks ago
Nice, thanks Bill
Thanks for the review

Awesome prize
Septer pffffft, NO.
That's a Lock-Saber
:o)
Nice show bill sparrows upping there game i see thanks
Hi Bill, Is it meant to be a covert lock picking kit buddy?
Very cool! Ordered!
That is a really cool @sparrows item
IF they made this to fit the Sparrows Revolver, I would be down instantly.
I'd like to see an LED mounted in the front so it could pose as a flashlight. 🔦
Nice.
Anyone else have a problem getting the Sparrows newsletter? No matter what email address I use, I never get one. I've bought enough of their products.
it could be in the spam folder.

i have the sparrow trainer what thread pitch is it tho ?
Look very nice
Does it float
Thank you I like the video 👍
Hmmm. I wonder what size O-ring that needs to make it water tight.
Nice ....
Instead of using it as a holder, it would be nice if it included a screw in LED flashlight.
Will the Sparrows Revolver fit in this?
Very cool
Is there a way to get into contact with you I have a vintage coin bank that I don’t have the key for and would like to open and any help would be much appreciated
Interesting concept.🤔
A piece of lead shot under the setscrews will keep them from damaging the outside threads of the lock, and still hold it tightly.
They make nylon tipped set screws as well.
There is no safe level of lead

Bill's Lightsaber....NICE!
Finally a reasonable, comprehensive solution to challenge locks with trap pins!
Me being a vaper, and using mechanical tube mods - at first I honestly thought it was a vape mod. :P
So now Sparrows can do knurling, making it easier to follow the original design for the disc detainer pick.
This is aluminum though, the DD pick is steel; different machinery.
mandatory interaction

Sparrows lightsaber - the force is medium tension?!?
Kind of new here, why is it that bill is intro crazy, I would say that this channel has went through the most intro changes
Because he can?
I'm betting that they came up with that idea by holding a flashlight.
I was actually going to suggest that in a previous life it *was* a flashlight. Oh well, opportunity to reuse/recycle missed, sadly. ;)
I got this like 2 months ago
👍👍
I thought those spheres were great. This is way better for me it'll hold a whole practice kit and slip into my bag so I can.play anywhere.
