Beautiful. It is SO easy to overdo this piece, but her performance has a subtlety and sensitivity that makes it a joy to listen to.

    The cradles
Along the quay the great vessels
which the swell sways in silence
take no notice of the cradles
which the hands of the women rock.
    But the day of farewells will come;
    for women must to weep,
    and curious men must
    strive for the alluring horizons!
And on that, day the great vessels,
    fleeing from the diminishing port
    feel their bulk held back
by the soul of the distant cradles.

Would you identify the singer? Please!

It’s beautiful, but why is she rolling her ‘r’ this isn’t Italian. I got my hand slapped constantly in voice for doing that.

      Thanks.
and for singing, sometimes singer rolling 'r' in french.

In a more classical setting for singing, singers will roll or flip their 'r' so they can get to the vowel faster so it can be a nice clear vowel sound. This woman was rolling her 'r' an unnecessary amount of times in the wrong spots

You’re right, it’s ridiculous to roll the r in modern french and I hate that. Unfortunately, many french singers do it but not the young generation, at least some singers of the young génération in the french melodies. Here, the singer is a foreigner ; I can hear it but her accent is light.

The French "r" is often modified as a very light roll in singing classical french.

French had rolling r's basically until the revolution but r's kept being rolled a long time after that in the singing (listen to Edith Piaf for a great example of transition between the two, not quite rolled not quite straight), nowadays it's a bit old fashioned to do it but it's how its traditionally done both in the classical and folk repertoire, although you don't have to roll them as much.
