    If you're worried about efficiency, you should know the following:
    -Spheres are the least resource-intensive collider types.
    -Capsules are the second-least resource-intensive collider types.
    -Finally, box colliders are the most resource intensive.
    This was tested by somebody on stack overflow, I hope they're right! 👍👍

    • @cosmology2773
      @cosmology2773 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This seems the opposite of what it should be. Being resource intensive means it uses more resources, and spheres are more complicated than boxes, so you would think boxes would be "less" resource intensive?

    • @schtaben
      @schtaben 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cosmology2773 When checking for collision spheres should be the easiest. Say that if you want to check if two spheres collide, all you have to do is to check if from the center of Sphere1 + its radius and Sphere2s radius towards Sphere2 reaches Sphere2s center. While with boxes the math becomes a lot more complicated.

    • @yourzombiemop8259
      @yourzombiemop8259 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@cosmology2773
      No - here's why:
      Spherical colliders aren't built on the principles of geometry collision. Literally the only thing sphere colliders do is check the distance from the target to a point. You can actually make your own primitive sphere collider in C# without any geometry calculations - just check the distance from one object to another and state that they are colliding if they fall within a radius of eachother.
      Capsule colliders actually do the exact same thing. The only difference is, capsule colliders are secretly a line with a radius instead of a point with a radius - they check if a target is within a radius distance from the line, giving it a "capsule" shape. because this is once again not based upon geometry calculations, it is also extremely efficient - and yet, it is slightly less efficient than a sphere collider.
      Finally, box colliders are most resource-intensive because they ARE built on the principles of mesh collision, which (while versatile) is very costly compared to a check if one point is within a radius from another point (spheres).
      I hope you learned something!
      Have a fantastic day, best of luck to you in your development endeavors ❤️💕

    Mr. Brackeys, or anyone else who knows: Is it possible to use the ragdoll colliders as "hit boxes" while animation is controlling the bones for something like bullets? Suppose you want to do a certain amount of damage for a shot in the arm or leg, but a shot to the torso has a high % chance of death and a headshot is almost certain death? I don't want to use a simple capsule or box collider to do the same thing for every hit, and they're not very accurate anyway. I also don't want to use a mesh collider. I want to use colliders mapped to body parts just like ragdoll colliders already work and deal specific damage to a player and cause different effects (like a limping walk animation). I've already got animated characters with accurate IK foot placement. Basically, I want animation to control the movement of the skin and bones but I want colliders that follow every part and limb and can be used to detect hits in specific body parts or even knock things around in the world if a swinging arm or leg hits a physics object.
