      Years ago, pull boxes for alarms could be found on most street corners. That’s where box alarm originated. The term box alarm is still used today but doesn’t apply to a physical alarm box.

      @@mattkeller2466 asshole for sure. But I also think that truck should have used the through lane. Instead of getting behind the pickup truck with the blue lights on the roof. I don't think that POV was technically allowed to run red lights, and the truck had plenty of room to move to the though lane then turn left. It would have prevented the white Chevy pickup from trying to go around them.

      Being on the fire dept in my town for 15 years, it always amazed me how people will refuse to move out of the way for our trucks, but will part the sea for a police vehicle

      This is strictly a eastern thing, in the west the engines lighting is about the same as European style lighting.

    Wow, I'm jealous. The typical response to a building fire here in Britain is two engines, plus an aerial if it's a high-rise or a special risk like a hospital, prison or dockyard.

      You'd be surprised how stupid people are and how many of them don't have a clue to get out of the way. I got cut off just the other night in the ambulance going lights and sirens transporting a patient with a possible stroke. Also had the ALS intercept fly car behind me going lights and sirens.

      He probably missed it. I am sure EMS was dispatched as well. we send an ambulance to every structure fire and we send our second ambulance on a second alarm so we have one for rehab and the other for transport. Then we'd call for mutual aid if we needed additional EMS units.

    People are all commenting on how the drivers didn’t know what to do. Well in their defense, normally you pull to the right. But in the case here, most units were responding on the right lane in order to make the turn. They should have used the left lane and made the right turn once hitting the intersection. By responding in the right line, drivers didn’t know where to pull over.

      Usually, chief vehicles are matched to the paint scheme of their company's apparatus.

      If you're referring to the grey SUV with only blue lights, that wasn't a chief, but an individual (volunteer) firefighter responding directly to the scene in his personal vehicle.

      I used to know that area. That development of a bunch of apartment buildings, several are very close together and present an exposure hazard.

      Most places have a standard box alarm response … so no matter what, if any kind of structure fire call comes in they get a certain amount of trucks. Always better to disregard than have to call more.

      That’s a standard initial response for a building fire in most places. If it’s a working incident you’ll get more. I work in Indy and we get 4 engines, 2 ladders, 1 squad, 1 medic, 2 battalions, 1 safety Officer and 1 EDO on the initial dispatch for any structure Fire. Building or residential. If we show up and there’s nothing we’ll disregard the rest. And we actually get less than some places do.

    Why is there a sigh saying "Left Lane MUST Turn Left"? Are they gonna turn right from left lane and create an accident or what? Really don't understand that sign. Like where else you gonna turn if you're in a left lane then left?????

      It means that lane does not continue past the intersection, so if you're traveling in it, you need to turn left.

      @@EyeWatchThemAll yea i get that because we have same here in europe but we simply have an arrow turning left marked on the road and on the sign so you will know that you cant continue strait after intersection, from that lane,and also that’s something you learn when youre learning how to drive which in Europe take about 6 months. Sign saying MUST turn left is more for uneducated and ignorant or retarded people that cant follow simple trafic sighns. Simple arrow without any writing will do. Learn the rulles and law of traffic when youre learning how to drive so not everything has to be written like for 2 year old child.

    The 2 last fire squads should have had their lights and siren both going way way before coming up onto the intersection light and they did not and all volunteer or payed me.ber should never have to wait on any and all lights or intersections period that is just wrong dumb and stupid 100% !!!

      @@johnleonard6878 Most of the time they are never given complete descriptions or the severity of fires and if I were in an apartment building, I would rather have a small fire with lots of response rather than a large fire and little initial response. I get your point though.

      @@johnleonard6878 Most places have a standard response plan. If any kind of structure fire calls come across they get a certain amount of units. Where I work we get 4 Engines, 2 Ladders, 1 Squad, 1 Medic, 2 Battalions, 1 Safety Officer and 1 EDO. Each truck/crew has an assignment for an initial fire attack if needed. When the first unit arrives and finds there’s something small or nothing found (which is most of the time) they all get disregarded. Always better to send more and disregard then have to call more and wait.
