my husband and I were set to travel for Christmas with our new baby to visit family. Baby came down with a stomach bug the week we were supposed to leave, so we had to stay put. We were sad but tried to make the most of it. We attended Christmas midnight Mass at a Dominican parish, and a choir of Dominican brothers sang this after communion. It was so beautiful my heart about stopped. The peace of a sleeping baby, the joy of his first Christmas; the stillness of 1AM, the hallowed hush that had descended after the Eucharistic prayers. Every time I listen to this song, it transports me back to that most magical of nights. In that moment, listening to the choir sing this piece, I actually was glad we hadn't been able to go out of town. We would have missed so much.
I've listened to this so many times and it still brings tears to my eyes. I have no words to describe the emotions it stirs in me. Like I'm hearing angels. And there I go again crying. Thank you to Philip Stopford for creating such a masterpiece and for this particular choir for a flawless performance.
Thank you Philip Stopford and this wonderful choir- my own choir just bought the music for our Christmas concert tomorrow and I'm really excited to sing it. God bless you all!
