This ought to be fun. Personally, I began loving Final Fantasy again after playing XIV: A Realm Reborn. The game has some connections, be thematically or small details with the Tactics Advance, which I bloody loved as a kid. Since then, I'm nearly finishing the base game post-content and getting closer to jump into Heavensward. The game writing, character devepolement, music and even playerbase is so damn good. Nothin' beats the feeling of sitting in a campfire with a random player, emoting "sit" and havin' a small conversation about our characters. Spell Charges work a fuck ton better in DnD where everything is a little bit more tailored to party strengths and weaknesses, and there isn't necessarily a combat encounter around every corner. In Final Fantasy 1 at the very least where you are fighting every 5 steps, it isn't a good use of a spell charge system.
I think going from creating music to game development makes sense actually, people who are artistically inclined tend to have talent in multiple types of art

I first found out about Final Fantasy from that Captain N Game Master episode. It was perhaps the final Captain N episode so it was quite fitting that the final Captain N episode was their take on the Final Fantasy game. Not series, but game as in there was only 1 at the time. Nice moments including a tense quicksand scene in the episode, but as soon as you watch the episode and the scenario they face, you could tell straight away what part in the story the episode was directly referencing.
Great video. I remember getting the Nintendo Power guide in the mail along with Super Mario 3 and Ninja Gaiden II. It certainly got me excited in the series. Do you only play the official releases of the series or do you play emulated versions? I have a suggestion when you get to Final Fantasy IV and VI again.
I hope he doesn't recycle a lot of the stuff that reviewers sade when it first came out. It's been done to death at this point. As an avid fan of XIII, I hope he enjoys it at least
Man it's crazy how time flies by. Like I remember the snug feeling of watching Johnny's vids on sick days in middle-school, and now almost a decade later my unwell ass is in bed watching a Johnny Vs. video waiting to get better before the mid-terms aha.
One of the biggest reasons I don't play any RPGs or open world games that much, they never end and I get bored after 10-15 hours. I prefer compact, shorter games that stay fun the whole ride. Even Spider-Man PS4 got pretty tedious when 100% it and I freaking love that game. Still, a new Johnny VS-marathon and I'm ready for it!
For some reason i managed to watch all of your Final Fantasy reviews in reverse and ending with this one. It's the first time i watched your channel and it's been a blessing for me. You're funny, great at explaning the gameplay mechanics and to re-tell the story. Just what i needed when I've been feeling a bit down lately so thank you.
I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time! FF1 on the GBA was the first FF game I even beat, and I absolutely loved it. Then I beat FF2 and loved it even more. Can’t wait to see what you have to say about FF2 when you get to that video, and I’m bracing myself for the criticism lol
Is it just me... Or is Johnny making more and more jokes ? Not that I'm complaining, this guy is always fun to watch and has been for years. Keep it up, Johnny... ... Or Tails Doll will come back for you !
Okay, first of all, chef's kiss to you Johnny. I have watched so many videos on TH-cam reviewing Final Fantasy games and enjoyed them, but the way you started this... I am very eager to watch and hear what you have to say in your future videos. I feel like this is going to be a great series on TH-cam! Keep up the good work! Your video sent me back to my childhood when I first played Final Fantasy 4 and discovered/played more of the franchise as I grew up. I should pick back up those I didn't finish and give them an other shot when I find some time. Just like you, Final Fantasy XIV is pretty much what fired back up my passion for the franchise, and highly recommend it to anyone interested in trying out MMO RPGs, this one is a banger, great music, story, mechanics and a lot of content to chew through if you have the time to spend (also Free Trial allowing you to play through both A Realm Reborn AND Heavensward, unlock and try out ALL classes and leveling up to 60).
This is gonna be good. Johnny reviewing the Final Fantasy series
The "This is 2020" line cracked me up :).

Fantasy Fantasy
Great video. I remember getting the Nintendo Power guide in the mail along with Super Mario 3 and Ninja Gaiden II. It certainly got me excited in the series. Do you only play the official releases of the series or do you play emulated versions? I have a suggestion when you get to Final Fantasy IV and VI again.
With Johnny doing all of the FF games I can’t wait to see his review on 8 AND 13. I really hope Matt is in his final fantasy 13 review
I hope he doesn't recycle a lot of the stuff that reviewers sade when it first came out. It's been done to death at this point. As an avid fan of XIII, I hope he enjoys it at least
Good grief we’re gonna be in this marathon till 2023 if he’s doing all of them in a row
Man it's crazy how time flies by. Like I remember the snug feeling of watching Johnny's vids on sick days in middle-school, and now almost a decade later my unwell ass is in bed watching a Johnny Vs. video waiting to get better before the mid-terms aha.
I don't really care for JRPGs, but its clear how much effort you're going to put into this vs. series. Great job dude, can't wait to see more
I'm watching this in hope this marathon will make me care more about JRPGs.

JRPGs
RPGs
What's the difference?
@@Antonio-is2cn J in JRPG means Japanese, so JRPGs are games from Japan that are RPGs
when johnny went off on his music love it made me remember back when he did the final fantasy top 10s. specifically the final boss music ones.

And so it begins...never thought I'd see the day.
From the jank beginnings to the glorious sequels, this is going to be one heck of a ride.
(im bad at writing comments lol)
