My journey takes me from Banguingui in Sulu, through Basilan, to Zamboanga, before I take a plane to Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, Malaysia.
And in KK, there's a Filipino Market, who call me "kababayan"!

Of course, this place belongs to the Philippine territory, it was given to Malaysia after the British colonisation. It was British North Borneo, belonged to the Sultan of Jolo and was rented by the government-funded British Company and the people there were Filipinos.

Hi Kumander! There is a ferry from Zamboanga to Sandakan Malaysia, I always wanted to do this trip, did you also know about it and wanted to try it out? :)
I really thought it is interesting that there is another way out the Philippines than airplane, only learned recently about it.
Much more interesting and also cheaper than airplane I think.
Maybe you can go back this way: Kota Kinabalu -> Sandakan -> Zamboanga
In Sandakan there is a great English Tea House near the Agnes Keith House. Also a Filipino working there by the way :)
