Holistic approach is to get rid of all of them living close to the drain but they will come and cry.

    • @jonespk9475

@susan ... open does exist in Europe. It mostly in rural area and industrial area in the city. The only difference is that people doesn't dump trash in it. In Ghana, 96% connected their domestic waste to open drain.
Open drain is constructed to collect rain.

Common sense tells us that nothing last forever, so the solution is simply, put some coverts and cover the whole place and leave a spot that is big enough that a person can go through to wash and clean up the waste from time to time, that’s what all those advance countries do. Let us think deep!!

People's hold stop buying sand & gravel putting ontheir plots if they aren't ready to build their houses. Some can leave sands on the road about three years time. When it rains, the rains drain all the sand into the gutters. It's very bad.

But they shouldn’t just build gutters and leave them all gutters whether open or closed should always be maintained. And other western countries for example they cover them up and they put a manhole where you can climb down and people go down there to sort out any problems and clean regularly. I thought the people said they wanted jobs!! I understand it’s not for everybody but some people could be trained to do this kind of work

We don't have a plan as country and this should not even be up for any public discussion.Over 25years of talking and no progressive action. Sad to keep hearing this repeatedly, that's insanity. Sometimes we don't realize there is a mental situation, until the psychological problem is dealt with we can't move on to design and construct. Talking is toooo much! We see and point out all the problems and solutions in discussion.

So this is the side of Ghana you tubers don't show to the diaspora. Ha something to think about, before I book a flight based on You Tubers vloggers. It seems some serious public service education needs to be done to teach people about proper sanitation. The government needs to charge those mining companies a fee to mine and use that money to build low income houses with indoor plumbing and flushable toilets. This is just poor hygiene at it's worse. How can there be a community toilet. People need toilet on their own property. That's how it was done in 1492. We never had this in the colonies and there was less space than Africa.
