Hi Toby Well here in were I live in Victoria going hiking I have to wear a lot higher type and very sturdy boots we have to take a few more precautions than you will do there in your great Videos apart from watching you don’t trip or fall we also have to watch out for snakes and we have quite a few and all are venomous so in wooded and grass areas have to be careful were you put your feet and more so if near water if it’s grassy like ponds etc. as they could be frogs but they will slither away normally unless they are cornered they don’t stop people hiking or walking just be aware
Kilts are definitely fun. I own 5. Great interview. Mine are the heavier wool kilts and probably not great for hiking. But your right "Would you ask a woman what is under her skirt"? Generally when wearing a kilt I do get compliments. Have a great day.
I went on some long hikes in shorts and got chafing that did not get any better with time. Hiked days later in a utility/sport/hiking kilt and got no added chafing at all. I am 71 years old now. And, I have reached the time in my life where I do not care what people think, one way or the other. BTW, I wore light boxers underneath.
Yes! Found it, thank you. Great explanation and fair play to you for carrying on this traditional item. I had my family tartan/kilt bough for me when I turned 18....sadly I have out grown that one now....Maybe I'll look to future kilts. Stay safe and well, Ceri and Kat ☕❤👍🏔👌

Greetings from down under Toby love your videos very interesting and some of the scenery fantastic but one question how you go on when it’s windy up the trails/mountains as it can get very windy high up on hills and mountains as well I know too well so how do keep you kilt in tacked I know it as to be quite a strong wind to blow it up that how do you stop the front from from blowing up and revelling you credentials so to speak ?? mainly in my case the back in not so bad as it dose not normally blow up that far and when it does only for a second someone would see black briefs if I am wearing any which normally I don’t so in that case a bare bum but the front I have a sporran so that keeps it down but you don’t have anything at the front
Eddie. Greetings my friend! A kilt pin or sporran can certainly help, my regular ripstop material is probably too light for very windy conditions...perhaps a heavier material? I'm certainly no expert on the subject, just personal experience in a typically non-windy environment. The foothills of Texas and the Rockies in Colorado is the windiest conditions so far. Most of the time I am fairly remote also...But in crowded conditions you may want to wear "more"? Kilt on my friend!
I’m planning a thru-hike of the Pinhoti Trail in October and was wondering if you would recommend a 5-yard wool or just a PV kilt? I just got my first kilt and I can see several more in my future!

Socks and boots?
