Exploring An Abandoned Quarry On A Perfect Morning
For this adventure, we visit an abandoned rock quarry. Located adjacent to Greenway Farms in Hixson, Tennessee, this popular and usually very crowded summer spot was a picture of peace and serenity on this beautiful Friday morning.
Included among the scenic views and attractions along the Greenway Trail is the quarry originally excavated by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) as a source of limestone for the construction of Chickamauga Dam. The Chickamauga Dam is located on the Tennessee River, just upstream from the mouth of the North Chickamauga Creek. A portion of the Greenway Trail follows the old haul road to the dam. The quarry is now flooded, and the cliff created by the quarry’s high wall is an impressive sight. Fishing and swimming are prohibited in the quarry.

Sadly that place is always SUPER trashed in the summer - no matter how many cleanups, a million beer cans and bottles spawn back the next day :/ there are trash cans down there too, people just never use them

Toby, this is the best one I've seen yet. Wow! I'll have to train up for it, but with a name like that, gotta visit. Kinda like Frog Lick Park in Arkansas.
Fiery Gizzard is very special. Next time I'm in Arkansas I'll have to check out Frog Lick!

Man I love your hiking videos. I hike in a kilt myself. Tell me though, do you wear a kilt in public going about daily activities or just hiking?
