It masked some of Russ's limitations (and trust me, as a Seahawks fan, his limitations had become apparent well before the time they traded him). What you see in Denver these last two years is what we saw the last few years in Seattle. He never developed an over the middle intermediate passing game. He held on to the ball too long (even during their Super Bowl runs). Teams had adjusted to him by doing a better job of containing him in the pocket, which meant a lot of fourth quarter comebacks in pass or die situations. Russ won a lot of those, but since the talent left during free agency (particularly at O-Line) in the years following their success, he lost as many as he won or even more. I get the argument of trying to win games and yea Russell Wilson hasn’t been playing up to par most of this season, but Sean Payton has made a lot of coaching mistakes as well his bad playing calling can’t be ignored so he has to take responsibility for his bad decision making as well.
The Broncos roster isn't good enough to contend for a Super Bowl, period. They mortgage their future to get Russell Wilson on top giving him a huge contract. In a sport with a stupid salary cap, teams better be very careful with every signing and trade they make because they have less margin for error.
It’s crazy the teams always find ways out of paying players which isn’t honoring their end of the contract and fans don’t say a word but soon as a player wants out fans get mad at the players and call them spoiled and entitled
Huh? They are going to be paying him all the money he was guaranteed. He clearly hasn't played good enough to deserve the rest though. The NFL isn't a charity.
Russ isn't losing money. He's still getting his money, just not the EXTRA money IF he gets hurt. That extra injury money is not part of his base salary.
The New England Patriots (OR JUST BILL BELICHICK) got rid of Tom Brady for Jarrett Stidham, the Raiders got rid of Derick Carr for Jarrett Stidham, and SEAN PAYTON got rid of Russell Wilson for Jarrett Stidham. I'm pretty sure it has and is and will all end up badly
If you’re a quarterback making the kind of money that Russell Wilson is making you’ve got to be putting up 35 touchdowns through the air 5 to 10 touchdowns on the ground 4 to 5000 yards passing maybe 500 to 1000 yards rushing and only have between five and 10 interceptions and maybe 1 to 5 fumbles for your yearly stats and he’s not living up to any of that but he’s being paid like it
Russ say fuk it and come to the raiders and you can get revenge by playing Denver two times a year the Raiders need a quarterback, and you the man for the job?
Russel humiliated himself! What job in the real world can you be paid top dollar to perform below average for 2yrs? Pro sports! Congrats, Russel & Ben Simmons.
Clearly Sean Payton is to blame for the season. Russell Wilson throws over 3000 yards and 26 touchdowns and the season is not even over yet but you want any spark in the offense… So you go from the guy that threw 3000 yards and 26 touchdowns and bench him for someone who started four NFL games…
I remember when it was Cam, Andrew Luck, Russ, and RG III all ascending at the same time. 3 will never play in the league again and now Russ’s future is in doubt, at least as a starter.
Russ has had the best career out of those by far and away. Stats, wins, and longevity wise. Luck retired early obviously though. Cam still gets all the hype when his final 3-4 seasons were worse than Russ ever has been.
Nobody is worth two first and two second round picks. Not a single guy in the NFL is worth that. Thats 4 starters and 2 potential future pro bowlers. Can't believe someone got PAID to make that decision, straight negligence.
Jarret Stidham is the winning QB? This guy never broke into the starting line up on his own, So Sean Payton can quit pissing in my ear and saying it is a spring shower.
RUSS WILL GET ANOTHER OFFER AS STARTING QB BACK NEXT YEAR!!! HE'S WAY TO GO!!! PEYTON JUST EXERCISING HIS POWER OVER RUSS BECAUSE HE DISLIKE RUSS TO THE HIGHEST LEVEL. RUSS AND I KNOW GOD GOT HIM!!! GO RUSS IN YOU I TRUST!!!😊
No team is going to just hand him a starting job at this point. He is going to have to win a competition in camp to be named the starter on his next team.
What a stupid move by the front office to have a contract structured in that way! They would owe Wilson 39 million plus another 37 million in injury guarantee if Wilson got hurt in the last two weeks on top! Now he can go somewhere else for peanuts and the Broncos still have to pay!
Trading for Russ, in hindsight, was a terrible idea. He’s a poor fit in Sean Payton’s offense. He costs way too much money, Russ isn’t Payton’s guy, and there really isn’t enough talent offensively to warrant keeping him. Unless they find a way to get one of the QB’s in this draft (and there are several pretty good QB’s in this draft), it’s time for a full fledged rebuild in Denver.
@@gourami7 They need a young QB with potential. Remember, people said Drew Brees was a bust before he went to the Saints and paired with Sean Payton. Mac Jones needs the right HC to succeed.
I think QB’s legacies have lead to the high salary situation’s, where teams are built around a QB. Examples of average guys and good teams are numerous. And good QB’s on bad teams are lucky to even get a career going. Crazy how Running backs went on strike and russ raided the bronco’s for 37mil…. But russ on a modest contract could help someone else. Point is the nfl era of over hyped QB’s needs to end. Along with the hitting penatlies and un clear pass interference flags. Let them hit and let them play, maybe it wouldn’t be so easy for mahomeboi. But hey if russ would just cut the refs a piece of pie, maybe he’d be in the playoffs too.
Even benching & releasing Russ, the Broncos are still shooting them selves in both feet. They cut him, they still have to pay him so long as he doesn’t sign with another team? If Russ is looking for move into ownership of a possible NBA expansion franchise that was previously spoken about, sitting at home is actually the better move.
This is what the Broncos get for constantly riding on the coat tails of other teams success and failing to find their own identity. First it’s save us Peyton Manning. Then it’s save us Aaron Rodgers and Nethaniel Hackett. Now it’s save us Russell Wilson and Sean Payton. This is what they get.
I would only counter Adam with Drew Brees was very, very good as a qb for the Chargers. In fact, in his qb play may have been the best they have ever had, eclipsing Fauts and Rivers.
Denver should have never went after Russ or Aaron Rodgers. Going for a ( Old ) QB was mistake #1. Giving him that type of Money 💰 was mistake #2. Then to go get Sean Payton off his Couch was mistake #3
Sean Payton wanted Wilson gone before he took the job. The problem was they paid him too much. Now it's economical to do so. Nothing against Russell, but he isn't trhe type of QB Payton likes or wants and he is unable to actually play the system that Payton wants to play. It seems Pete Carroll knew how to build a system Wilson could play in, but Seattle also saw limitations with him. As for claiming this is crazy, they have no plan, so what? Broncos are on the outside looking in, even if they win out and make the playoffs they are going nowhere anyway. Payton wants to look at what he has and see how much the Broncos are going to have to pay for someone who can run an offense Payton wants to run.

Raiders are not that dumb to get a finished old qb
@@america998 first of all. I've been a Raider fan since 1967.
Yes they are that dumb. I can name 10 quarterbacks just like that.
Let's start with Plunkett who nobody wanted.
Pastorini washed up from the oilers.
Carson Palmer broken knee.
Jimmy crappolo.
Daryl lamonica from Buffalo 24th round draft pick worked out okay.
Rich Gannon and nobody from Chicago
George Blanda 40 years old
Kerry Collins from Carolina
Jeff George
Shall I continue?
Yes the Raiders are that stupid. I can name five more quarterbacks but I just don't have the time right now. So hit me up later
@@america998 btw Russell Wilson is a top 5 quarterback stat wise in the NFL THIS YEAR
Was never fan of Sean Payton knew when he came Russ would be on his way out..
Nah you know that offseason training gonna be intense for Russ. I think 2024 gonna be his best season yet. He’s definitely holding receipts. Any team that gets him their going to the playoffs. The broncos better not hope it’s the raiders tho
It happens
I still find it interesting how all these sports pundits that were saying Russ is cooked, he’s past his prime, etc. are now are coming to his defense. He’s been great this year and I hope he rebounds for another team down the line. As a Broncos fan, I don’t like it either, but it is what it is.
Notice is only the black talking heads...
They are trying to make it seem like SP is a power hungry maniac that is just using wilson as a scapegoat.
It’s because what the broncos did is bush league. 2 things can be true.
@@jideobiodobulu8462
What's Bush league is demanding a new contact with two years left on your deal only to play like crap.
Why am i not surprised the softest generation in American history doesn't understand accountability.
It's honestly insane how quickly the narrative changes these days, just six months ago everyone was still literally insulting Russ and thought he was a dumb cheeseball. Now everyone is backing him up and feeling bad for him 🤷🤦
The only people backing him up are the blacks.
For obvious reasons.
Espn is trying to make this about race.
Dude Sean Peyton isn't the guy lol he's been living off that one super bowl for so long now.
Whatever level of respect Russell Wilson had in the locker room is gone. You can't let Sean Payton do that and walk away without pushback. Wilson should've clearly let him know, "Don't you EVER talk to me like that again! EVER!"
He is going to the Raiders next year
Sean never wanted russ from the jump
Sean Payton is so full of it lmaoooo
Basically Denver just might pull a Colorado Rockies in paying Wilson to play some where else like Aranado in St.Louis? Re tards ok! 🤣
commanders should sign russ...
Russ will have the last laugh when he taking a team to the playoffs and the broncos are 3-13 next year
You think that's gonna happen?!! Russ ain't that dude anymore, some of ya'll are delusional!!
I hope he signs with the Raiders and lights it up. It would be even sweeter if he has career games against the Broncos.🤣 I just want to see the chaos
Russ was gonna take the fall for Payton no matter what
This what it boils down too. Russ had a decent season this year. Definitely better than last season. Sean peyton is not pete carroll. Thats not his boy.
Wow, Seattle sure fleeced them. Embarrassing.
Lol what did Seattle do with their picks not a dam thing they have no QB either
@@Michael-f6y4xwhat? They had one of the best drafts ever 😭😭
They didn't need one. Geno took the same exact team to the playoffs..
@@plutotechand got bent over by the 49ers, try again
@@plutotech how is Geno working out Pete is washed like Russ
Seattle fan here. I can't stand Wilson, but let's not act like Payton is this elite coach that can do no wrong. Dude won 1 SB and you're giving him the keys to the franchise?
Why can't you stand Wilson? He's not black enough for you or something?
SEAN PAYTON HAD 3 CONSECUTIVE LOSING SEASONS WITH A PRIME DREW BREES ..
Not much talent on offense either, Payton has been underwhelming for an offensive whiz
Russell is one of the reasons this team even has the amount of wins they do this year.
@@gourami7can’t be a whiz when the offense isn’t like top ten
When you cut out much of your playbook because your QB can't handle it, it becomes hard to call plays effectively. You get that right?
It’s crazy the teams always find ways out of paying players which isn’t honoring their end of the contract and fans don’t say a word but soon as a player wants out fans get mad at the players and call them spoiled and entitled
Huh? They are going to be paying him all the money he was guaranteed. He clearly hasn't played good enough to deserve the rest though. The NFL isn't a charity.
@@aaronhumphrey3514 sean paytons burner^
Russ isn't losing money. He's still getting his money, just not the EXTRA money IF he gets hurt. That extra injury money is not part of his base salary.
Wilson, is done in Denver...
Man, you can see the wheels turning in Marc Davis' head. "My Dad got Jim Plunkett and Rich Gannon off the scrap heap. Hmmmm Russell Wilson....."
How do you not fire that gm?
If you’re a quarterback making the kind of money that Russell Wilson is making you’ve got to be putting up 35 touchdowns through the air 5 to 10 touchdowns on the ground 4 to 5000 yards passing maybe 500 to 1000 yards rushing and only have between five and 10 interceptions and maybe 1 to 5 fumbles for your yearly stats and he’s not living up to any of that but he’s being paid like it
Business is business 😂😂
Russ say fuk it and come to the raiders and you can get revenge by playing Denver two times a year the Raiders need a quarterback, and you the man for the job?
Russel humiliated himself! What job in the real world can you be paid top dollar to perform below average for 2yrs? Pro sports! Congrats, Russel & Ben Simmons.
Come to NE, make the Pats great again.
I’m getting fired and my last paycheck is 39m’s! I’ll take that any day 🤷🏾♂️
If I were Russ, I'd go SO HARD at practice that they send me home
I remember when it was Cam, Andrew Luck, Russ, and RG III all ascending at the same time. 3 will never play in the league again and now Russ’s future is in doubt, at least as a starter.
Russ has had the best career out of those by far and away. Stats, wins, and longevity wise. Luck retired early obviously though. Cam still gets all the hype when his final 3-4 seasons were worse than Russ ever has been.
All that money could pay for national debt
Sean is about to make this team worse than they already are. Wilson has been the ONE good spot for Denver this season.
Russell Wilson should go to the Atlanta Falcons, his wife's hometown.
A hard no if rather get fields but if that doesn’t work I’ll try Russ but we not paying that bonus unless you put Judy in there
Nobody is worth two first and two second round picks.
Pittsburgh, Atlanta or Vegas
Same thing happens in Washington now look at Sam
He can go to AZ, Pats, ATL, Saints
Get up really put on the D-team today.
TYPO. RUSS IS TO GOOD!
No team is going to just hand him a starting job at this point. He is going to have to win a competition in camp to be named the starter on his next team.
Sheffy dropping some knowledge, then a random lady starts talking
Bart scott sounds ridiculous
Doesn’t matter who the QB is, the damage is already done and this won’t help the broncos going forward. Sean Payton already lost this locker room.
What a stupid move by the front office to have a contract structured in that way! They would owe Wilson 39 million plus another 37 million in injury guarantee if Wilson got hurt in the last two weeks on top! Now he can go somewhere else for peanuts and the Broncos still have to pay!
CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT LEGAL MOVES THE #NFLPA DOES !!!
#UNBELIEVABLE
I dont buy for a second Payton saying he cant run his offense. He chose not to, otherwise he wiuld of actually proven thay Russ cant do it in a game
Denver needs to rebuild and keep Russell
He also has 10 fumbles this year
Lets ride....outta town.
Wilson to the Steelers next season
Trading for Russ, in hindsight, was a terrible idea. He’s a poor fit in Sean Payton’s offense. He costs way too much money, Russ isn’t Payton’s guy, and there really isn’t enough talent offensively to warrant keeping him. Unless they find a way to get one of the QB’s in this draft (and there are several pretty good QB’s in this draft), it’s time for a full fledged rebuild in Denver.
Are you all expecting people to believe , economics is not part of professional sports ? It’s a football move a professional football move
Mac Jones to the Broncos. He will be the next Drew Brees under Sean Payton.
🚶🏿♂️
They need a quality proven qb not a bust
@@gourami7 They need a young QB with potential. Remember, people said Drew Brees was a bust before he went to the Saints and paired with Sean Payton. Mac Jones needs the right HC to succeed.
@@gourami7they need a defense and o-line
LOB made RW who he is.. compare his stats from this year to 2013..same exact dude.
If Stidham gets hurt there is no way I would play if they dress Wilson out
I would only counter Adam with Drew Brees was very, very good as a qb for the Chargers. In fact, in his qb play may have been the best they have ever had, eclipsing Fauts and Rivers.
The Falcons need Russell Wilson!
Lions broke the Broncos let’s go
Denver should have never went after Russ or Aaron Rodgers.
