I've been sewing since age 12, and made a lot of my clothes till age 22 when I married and had my daughter. then it appeared that my size needed adjustments to patterns and I just didn't have the knowledge or wherewithal to deal with it. So I only sewed costumes for her and myself for Halloween, etc., I find that coming back to garment making and searching for videos, it seems that the U.K. took off on sewing, and here in the states, at least where I live in New England, it is few and far between. In my community and amongst acquaintances and friends, no one I know sews their own clothing or even knits , etc., I feel like I am in no man's land, Even in public schools they don't offer beginning classes like they did when I was young. Anyway. I've found it again online watching your videos and inspiration and happy to have found it. Keep these coming. they are such an inspiration!

Then I discovered sewing on youtube 👍👍👍 I've since found that there are bloggers and vloggers here too (this was the subject of the article). I like the idea of pinning the darts then making them. I've always marked with thread but this method seems faster and less wasteful. Beautiful make (as usual).

Beautiful. I am curious about why you did not match the print of the fabric on back seams-especially since the exposed zipper calls attention to the back seam.
Hi Janet, for this one the achievement for me was making a pencil style skirt with the exposed zip that was neatly finished and fit me really well 👍 #onestepatatime 😉 having said that I’m not sure that I would pattern match this one if I made it again now 🤔🤔🤔
Hello I learned a lot from your videos. I was making a skirt for myself but it’s hard to make it fit on me. I have wider hips and a small waist. It’s always sitting los above my bum.

When sewing with other fabrics where I think lining is required I can be a bit lazy sometimes and plump for a slip instead 😍 i suppose what I'm saying is it depends really😉💕
I've never used scuba - it sounds fab. I don't work anymore so I haven't really had the need for work style' skirts - my wardrobe 'holes' have all been casual wear.

You can't beat a good classic pencil skirt👍❤️ and yours was so beautiful👍 I haven't tried either the Anderson or the cowl dress, I have seen some beautiful versions of the Anderson and paired with a pencil skirt I think would be gorgeous👍💕 I must have a look at the cowl dress. two more for my list👍😍

I got 4 yards of the most beautiful floral print viscose jersey, but it's waaaay more transparent than I realized. Do I line it, or just expect to wear a slip? Hmmm.
Eleine Sun I'll definitely check out the SOI Cowl neck dress👍❤️ for the Jersey, I would plump for a slip for two reasons. 1. I can be a bit lazy when it comes to lining and 2. I wouldn't want to have to think about the weight of the lining fabric and making sure its appropriate for the outer fabric, I hope this makes sense😕😍
