  • Hayward Super Pump 115v. electrical hookup solved.
    *Note 230v and 115v is the same hookup (other than perhaps wire color). The only difference is the plug jumper position, in 230v position two L2 tabs are visible, in 115v only one is.

    Before I hooked up the pump, I saw your video. I must thank you because the same thing happened to me. The salesperson told me to change wiring to 115 because factory sends them 220. I moved it and it looked right. The arrow matched up. Got down to pool and it did not work. If it wasn’t for your video I would have wasted more of my time. Thank you very much.
    Hey Hayward get your crap together!

    2023. I had this exact same issue. I might have gotten a return, however, because mine was lacking the orange instruction tab altogether. Mine is now set in what looks to be the same position as yours. Running 115v and seems to be running like a top now ~

    This video helped 200% thank you. My unit was missing that orange label and my pump was also set to 115V. Not having that orange label I didn't know to move that block over. Again thank you so much for putting this video out.

    You are correct. Just got my replacement super pump, mine is the same. It's wired 115v, but the orange tag says it's wired 230v. Everyone commenting that you are wrong are, in fact, the ones that are wrong.

    I just got one of these today and went BatShit crazy trying to find out what wire goes on L1 and L2 .... The conclusion is , your pumps wiring is correct. Black on L1 White on L2 Jumper moves to 115 slot ....
    One main reason is the little diagram on the motor itself has the Letter N ( neutral ) marked for L2 .... No designation on L1...

      I have to add this ..
      I called Hayward today to get another opinion on this. Customer Service : I can't help you with that. I SAID: There's no mention of wiring in the manual ... Hay : Well we can't give you any information on that ....!?!?? You'll have to go to a Hayward Service Center ... 🤣
      I said : A What ??? I bought it from Amazon ....!!! ( Now I'm fn Mad )
      She says ... That's all and hangs up on me .... ! I didn't even get to curse !!!
      Now Hayward must have gotten sued or something for someone screwing up the wiring, that's the only thing I can figure!??
      This is my 4th Hayward pump in 35 yrs. ... and I never had a problem before because there was no jumper, no knob, just a sheet of paper. This way for 230..... This way for 115 ....!
      REALLY ..... What's so Fn hard about that ..... Good God .... !!!

    I don't know what all the confusion is on this.
    If you are running your pump off a 2 pole breaker meaning it has two hots, a red and a black going to the breaker than it is set up for 230 volt which the most efficient setup for a pool pump. If you have it set to 115 then you have a hot(black) and a white(neutral) and it goes to a single pole breaker and the white wire goes to the neutral bar.
    I just purchase the same pump and mine has the little jumper set to 230. My current set up is with a 2 pole breaker so there is no need to change mine.

    Align arrow on plug to 230v or 115v marking. If not sure of voltage test with meter.

      Bill West It really is that simple, unfortunately it came with a tag saying it was factory set for 230v when in fact it was already in the 115v position. Was a customer’s pump and certainly didn’t want to blow it up 🙂

    • @billwest9110
      @billwest9110 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MWorsa Might have been a return. All set to 230v from factory. 1hp motors nowhere to be found. Went with new 3/4 hp. It will work fine with Zeo Sand in filter tank. 1.5 hp would blow sand out on backwash.

    I need to replace my very old Hayward pool pump model # C48K2N143C1C. I was looking to purchase the SP2607x10 but I just want to be sure I'm using the right amperage from the breaker with the new pump. The old pump was 1 HP and ran 115V on 20 amp breaker. Will the same breaker suffice with the right amount of electricity for the new pump model I'm looking to purchase? I've tried countless times to get ahold of Hayward with no luck or contact. Pool supply companies can't seem to give me a definite answer either. I would love any sort of help. Thank you!

    Can anyone comment what would happen if the pump is configured for 230 volts and then fed 115 volts? I had my pool store replace our pump and it is being fed 115 volts from a DIG 220. I know because I installed it and the last pump was configured for 115 volts. When they replaced it they left it on the 230v setting. I went to fire it up and it blew the breaker. Long story short I've since discovered the error, moved the black plug down to the 115 volt spot and tried to fire it up again however it still blows the breaker now. Anybody know why that would be? Could the pump have been damaged trying to feed 115 volts to it when it was configured for 230 volts? I would think the opposite would be the problem

    I had the same problem understanding the tag. It's not clear at all.

    • @MWorsa
      @MWorsa  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jerry Pavelka The main problem is the tag inside says it’s wired for 240v from the factory when in fact it was already in the 120v position which is what I needed.
