ALCOHOL INK ON PHOTO PAPER

- This week I am doing something a bit different. I am trying out alcohol inks. And I am trying them on glossy inkjet printer photo paper. (The paper is Kirkland brand from Costco but I don not know if it is still available - I bought it several years ago.) I try it on both the main side (ie the glossy photo side) as well as on the reverse. It was a bit of a messy business - but I am going to persevere with this. Another alcohol ink video will be coming soon.

Beautiful gave me galaxy vibes.
So fun to try something new and get messy ❤ you have inspired me to break out the alcohol inks for my Livestream on Saturday! Thank you! ❤❤❤
Hi kylie! Enjoyed my watching! So fun to see you experiment! Love the colors and I like them all!! Stay safe and healthy! xx
Looks like fun Kylie! You might be able to drag the white or gold ink around with a pen nib or stick or something to make lines or streaks. Always excited when you post a new video. Hugs from Catherine in Sask. Canada.
The alcohol inks don’t behave the way they’re “supposed to” on the glossy side of photo paper because of the coating which absorbs the ink. It actually works better on the back side which resists the alcohol ink, or on non-absorbent surfaces such as Yupo. That’s where you get the “blooming” of colors! Many people recommend wearing a heavy duty respirator mask with alcohol inks.
such pretty colours i love the rich purple colour xx
I have tried alcohol ins in
the past, but never been happy with the results. I love the results you obtained today and can't wait to have another go at it. TFS. Have a fabulous week! 🙏🥰
I don't use anything alcohol for that very reason, fumes and reaction. Lovely effects 💖
Hello ❤from Beautiful British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦
Alcohol use lots of ventilation..
I used them on yupo paper.🎉
.
Beautiful, love the colors..
Alcohol inks work beautifully on the gel plate, although they may stain the plate a bit. I use them with stencils and you can get some lovely images. I find I get the best results with them using them as you have here with Yupo paper. Make sure you are in a well-ventilated room too. If you have the Ranger blending solution, never put it into a spray bottle as it contains resin and could get into your lungs. Using the rubbing alcohol in a spray is fine. Do have a look at some of Tim Holtz's TH-cam videos using alcohol inks, as he is a great teacher and I always learn a lot when I watch him.
HEN!! Brave Woman lol.... Have a go at this: Watercolour paint onto watercolour paper... while paint still wet add a few drops of alcohol ink a with a pipette a few drops of alcohol. Spray bottle the alcohol also give a funky effect.... Eddie and I are playing ...
Love watching you Kylie. Beautiful
thank you Kylie
Great experiment, love the colors☺
Lovely results❤
Loving these! Are you going to show how you use them in your art projects or journals? Thanks Kylie! 🌷
Love these! I've played with alcohol inks before and I thinik it is just a trial and error thing and find ing your own way! So enjoyed it and thank you for sharing, take care x
Dear Kylie - it was interesting to see how the alcohol inks reacted to the front and reverse sides of the photo paper 😮. Would love to see how they work on a gel plate! Until next time! 💖🙏🎨
Alcohol inks discolour gel plates😢🎉😂 become yellow.
@@margueritemitchell1829 Oh, is the function of the gel plate impaired?
I have 3 colors of alcohol inks that I’ve used maybe twice. For me, their ability is rather limited. A fun reaction is to put the ink on the backside of photo paper, then apply drops of rubbing alcohol for beautiful pooling.
