@@jpch8814 welcome!! Yes I think the difference is so important to know going in… so many are marketed as straight up thrillers when they’re not, and readers get disappointed

Tina! How am I just finding out you have a TH-cam channel? I am obsessed with your podcast. Have listened for years!! Your recommendations never steer me wrong. I also loved several of these books and can’t wait to read the others you recommended! And I highly recommend the Defending Jacob show on Apple TV+! Great adaptation!
I love mystery, suspense and thrillers 🙋🏻♀️ I am so glad I found your channel. Among the ones you mentioned, I read Defending Jacob and I am Thinking About Ending Things. I completely agree with you on both 👍🏻 Thanks a lot for recommendations 🤗

I just found you and am so happy. These are the books I gravitate to. I appreciate you explaining the difference of a mystery , thriller , and suspense. I love suspense. I need something that will keep me deeply invested in the story. I get bored easily if there are too many slow , dragged out parts. I wrote down quite a bit of what you suggested. A lot of the authors I never heard of. Thanks for helping me to expand my reading options
Oh my goodness!!! Our taste in books is almost identical!!! 😊 There are a couple on my TBR shelf still, but the only book we somewhat differ is I’m Thinking of Ending Things (Reid). I rated that a 3/5. I liked We Spread (Reid) better. It was thought provoking. I’m currently reading The Family Experiment (Marrs), and it hooked me from page 1! You gave me 3 recs that I never heard of, and I’m so excited! Thank you! 📚 😃 Oops! Forgot to add . . . New Subbie here! 😊

New sub - loved your recommendations and your reviews. I will be adding these to my TBR on Goodreads for sure! Thanks a couple of these really caught my attention. The last one I will definitely be reading. That really sounds like a great read. 📚📖
I loved First Lie Wins, 4.75 stars. Listen for The Lie, 4. Defending Jacob ❤ I agree with you on Twenty Years Later. KFMKFY, loved it. He is so darned good. The Butcher and Keep it In The Family, yes! Great group of books!
Ooh, thrillers and mysteries are the genre I gravitate towards the most, so I'm excited about this list. My mom took me book shopping during the holidays and I fully intended on buying One of the Good Guys but it was not in stock at the store, so I'm keeping an eye out for this one as I'm interested in reading it. Same for A Secret Worth Keeping, couldn't find this one in stock either. I'm so glad to hear you really enjoyed The Sequel, because I took a leap of faith and grabbed it while shopping even though I recently received The Plot and have not read it yet. I'm hoping to read both early in the year. I spotted What Happened to Nina? at my library so I hope to borrow this one as soon as I've narrowed the pile I've already got on loan a bit.
@@tbretc Hi Tina, Looking at what I read in 2024, I definitely enjoyed Everyone on This Train is A Suspect (Benjamin Stevenson), Razorblade Tears (S.A. Cosby) and Every Time I go on Vacation Someone Dies (Catherine Mack). If I go back to earlier reads, I remember really liking Before I Go to Sleep from S.J. Watson and The Wife Between Us from Greer Hendricks. I'd like to re-read those two to see if I still enjoy them as much the second time around.
You have such a nice mellow way about you and such a nice voice that just makes me want to listen to anything you have to say and thank god you have such great things to say you really know how to do a good review not just I loved it or I hated it you give us some reasons why. So thanks
Twenty years later is fantastic. Actually, I have read many of these and they were all great. Adding the others to tbr. Defending Jacob adaptation is worth watching. Presumed Innocent is also in this same vein and has two adaptations- a 90’s movie and a recent series, and all have twisted the ending differently. Each one is really good. Original is the best.
Just started first lie wins.Other book reviewers have given it.Bad reviews or said it was just OK, but I'm glad that you like it because I've been enjoying it so far so good.I'm not turned off,
I listened to the audio version of Twenty Years Later. It was not that hard to follow, and the ending was good. I listened to several other Charlie Donlea books, its worth your time.
I can't believe I've not read any of those books. The one about Nina sounds like a thinly veiled re-telling of the Gabby Petito story. My absolutely most terrifying book of 2024 was Toxic Prey by John Sandford. The 33rd(?) entry in the Lucas Davenport series. I'm a big fan of his. The major plot point of this one was just a little too possible.
