Just don't play the sequel to Saturday Night Masters... Even mentioning that its meant to be a wrestling game is outright insulting. awful game.

Super Muscle Bomber is great, it's just a 4 player version of Slam Masters, a total riot with friends! But Slam Masters II is just a dumpster fire, Capcom threw everything that made the original so fun and turned it into a poor man's Street Fighter II knock-off. it killed the franchise.

I never played this one but I’ve heard a ton of great praise for it. Haggar using moves that we’d see him use in Final Fight and MVC games is so consistent, which is obviously not the case with regard to canon between US and Japan lore haha. This seems just as convoluted as Final Fight canon - hell, the character Poison alone has SO many different things going on between western and eastern markets that it’s impossible to keep up.
Awesome review, and I’m looking forward to Sting Money!

Ian I GOTTA tell ya..... I F'N LOOOOOOVVVEEEEEE this game! I grew up with it and played the ish out of this thing! I had it on Sega, and what's crazy is, I also owned Royal Rumble, RAW & WrestleMania but played this game more than those!!! I'm so hyped (if you can't already tell, lol) that you did an episode on this game. Personally, Scorpion was my favorite character, because of the name (DUHHH) and, just the cool way he looked. Plus, I memorized his move set, so that flying spinning spear of his was my go-to. One thing I was hoping for was that you'd highlight that there were special pin moves, submissions and the fact that if you're playing 2 player, and you get grappled, you have a small window of time to hit the buttons and break free from it, which I thought was a small but HUGE deal for Capcom to include in the game. Also, if I'm correct, the endings to the story modes differ in each game also. Plus, it was 2 fold: first, you go through the roster to win the title, which is also cool, cause Jumbo and Scorpion were the pre-boss and boss, respectively for the title, but then after you won, you get a celebration and then have to defend it through the roster again. And if you succeed, you get a bigger celebration but THEN.......your party is crashed by 3 dudes who wanna take you out, and the cliffhanger the Sega version leaves you with is BONKERS, to the point that I spent years looking for a canon continuation of the game, just because of that ending. Again, I can't state how much I love this game and absolutely loved your review of it. Thanks so much man. Much love to ya and 616!!

Many many MANY Saturday mornings playing this game as a 12 year old kid. I can't believe how long ago it came out. Genesis version had the barbed wire match..never forgot that. Great game..street fighter pro wrestling lol. Scorp and stingr were my favorites.

Also if you could ad one classic capcom character to the Saturday night slam masters roster who would it be ?and if you could add three wrestlers from anime or real live who would you choose . Also have seen the anime animal mask . I bring up cause the main character is wrestler who comes to the ring with his k-9 buddy .

Slammasters was the best wrestling game back in the day. I have a ps4 now, my son's love wwe2k17, and they love playing Slammasters with dad. That speaks volumes.

16:00 My old ass grew up with Slam Masters. Still got my SNES copy too. Now if I can just get a new AC adapter for the damn thing, I'll be golden.

Would love to see a review of Super Fire Pro Wrestling Special on the Super Famicom.
The most darkest depressing story mode in any game let alone a wrestling game.
Hope you're doing well Ian mate 🍻

I think it’s time for WWF Raw for the Xbox. That game was so horrible and made my brother destroy the instruction manual.

I loved this game as a kid, played it a little after it came out for the SNES, rented it all the time, me and my buddy played through the tag team mode so many times, usually using Scorpion and Stingray. It's one of the few SNES games that I have complete. I've never had the opportunity to play the Genesis version

Do you think Capcom could make a new Saturday Night Slammasters one of these days because this is one of their few rare franchises that has not been touched on in awhile.

Could say this game paved the way for games like WWE ALL Stars. I remember the cover art but dont know from where

They came put with a oldschool style wrestling game called fire pro wrestling. The customization is more in depth than any game ive ever seen. Not even kidding there is millions of possibilities in that game, you could spend an hour easily making a perfect wrestler. Its almost like using dev tools to create a character. I love slam masters always will this and the N64 titles.

I did not know about this game until I went to college. The college had a multi-arcade and this was one of the games. I was lucky to find out there was a SNES version.

Slam Masters is a prequel of Final Fight and Street Fighter 1.
And been mention on SFV as reference and easter eggs.

Some one could really melt their own brain out of their ears trying to make sense of fighting game cannon. That stuff is bonkers.

Saturday Night Slam Masters may not have been a WWE, WCW or ECW game, but it was a wrestling game done right.

Other differences, the Genesis is missing the great tag mode that is in the arcade and SNES. The barb wire match and boss selection help make up for it.
Also the Arcade has different images of the wrestler in the selection screen. On the actual matches. The arcade has bigger images of the wrestler’s faces by the energy bar and the faces wince and change as the wrestlers take damage and lose.
