My elderly neighbor Bill was discovered deceased on Christmas Eve. I went over to give him Christmas desserts and he never answered the door. My other neighbor was concerned, and called the police, as he hadn't been seen in a long while. I last saw him Thanksgiving, when I delivered him a plate to eat. He lived alone, but had a dog he loved so much. The dog stayed in the backyard and survived on fallen fruit during this time, and she went out of state to live with extended family once he was discovered passed-on. Bill had passed away in his bed, probably after taking a nap, age 82. I hope he knows he wasn't alone and people cared about him; I would check on him from time to time, to make sure he was okay and keep him company. People get older, many get forgotten as the years goes on by - I wanted to make sure, he wasn't another elderly person forgotten about, in this already lonely world. He had a good sense of humor and was a goofy, good ol' guy. Merry Christmas Bill. Edit: When I watched this video, I felt such a sadness. Somewhere within, I think I was in sought, to just say in a place, somewhere, anywhere, words to lay down my final good-bye to Bill, because he never had a funeral for me to say them to him. I just needed to say "Good-Bye". I never expected so many kind people to reply in-kind. I've read now, so many wonderful, beautiful, heartfelt replies to Bill's passing and every single one has been a light in the time where there was a feeling of loss. I want to thank so many in the replies that have posted. You're all people that are so blessed to be so kind and open, and good hearts all over the world that need you, I'm certain of it. Thank-You! :)
9 years ago, i was sick and bedridden in hospital. I heard this song while my father took care of me in the hospital. 1 years ago my father got stroke and was coma for 3 months. So i play this song when i took care of him. Suddenly i saw his hand twitching, and feels like he's trying to say something but he cant. The next day my father died in his room, and i wasnt there. I really feel that i should've stayed longer. Goodbye father. This song will always remind me of my father.
My condolences to you. 30 years ago, I had an accident. When I woke up from the surgery my father sat there - unexpectedly: he had traveled hundreds of kilometers to be there for me. And when the pain from the screws in my bones set in, he ran to get me anaesthetics. It was the closest I ever felt to my father. Fast forward a decade, I moved 10.000 KMs away from him - over the years I traveled back several times - always on alarm that he might die. When he finally did he did so in the few minutes my mother left him to pick me up from the train station. A hospice counselor at the time, I knew that people often die when we leave them alone. On one occasion, I even left the room so that my patient no longer needed to hold on. Sometimes, leaving them alone is the best thing we can do for them. :-)
I feel sorry for you. May your father rest in peace... Curiously this song brings me memories about my dad as well. About 15 years ago, none of my brothers were in home so my dad took only me out for a dinner and we never did that again. I remember that after the dinner we went to a buddhist ceremony. I was very impressed. While returning home, this song played in the radio and there's a magic feeling that matched this unique episode in my life. I think that's why I've never forget it's name when the radialist told it.

I have been listening to Mr. Sakamoto's film scores since "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence." His music has beyond inspired me in my own compositions. His music allows me to go where I want. He is a gem. There really are no superlatives that can describe how I feel about his compositions. I would love to see this trio live, or any other configuration. A year ago I saw "The revenant". I walked away in love he'd over heels over the score. Little did I know Mr. Sakamoto composed it. No wonder.

When I die, I want this to be played, it's such a perfect piece of music. One of lost hope, loves gone by, regret, hope for the future, long walks home, the sand beneath one's feet, autumn leaves staining a white pair a trainers, a need to run, to feel the wheat fields feel the slipping grasp of your hand, the need to look towards the sun, to feel happy within sadness, to live while you're young. To smile when you're sad. Its a perfect piece of music.
Sakamoto is one of the best musicians in the world. 👍The first time I heard this music was in the early eighties, it totally moves me to tears 😂 Stay safe Mr. Sakomoto and God's Bless.

Just listening to this makes me feel at ease, makes 2020 a little better. Makes me forget all the hardships we all had to go through, it's like someone who's trying to push you a bit more farther than your current destination
I was like 13 the first time I watched the movie and to this day, every time I see the first snow of the season this is the song that comes to mind. Such a haunting piece.
Christmas wasn't a holiday for me. It was just a day of solitude. I had a friend who, before passing on this day, gave me a meaning of how to enjoy being along without feeling depressed. This happened five years ago. Now, every Christmas, whether I work or ride alone anywhere- be it bus or train, this tune brings me back to reality without shedding a tear. Goodbye 2019. You've made my life challenging. Time to start a new one soon...
2019 Christmas Alone in my room Maybe next year i won't be alone I don't believe in god but i couldn't believe twisted myself neither I hope myself can believe something next year Merry Christmas. Mr. whoever reads this.
I just finished the movie, and what a tale it was! Those feelings inside the soldiers which always hit too close to home; the everyday miseries and struggles and even those slight joys of the British POWs in the Japanese army. Truly a masterpiece worth watching again. Thank you Mr. Sakamoto for the breathtaking character Yonoi. For me, he showed how complex people can be behind their masks, and how much one’s environment has control over them... Both the movie and music are too stunning for words.
I hope things are better for you next year, it doesn't always feel like it but I know the misery will lessen as time goes by. Sometimes the only thing you can do is wait out the storm ❤

37 years ago I heard this beautiful piece and it touched my heart never to hear it again until yesterday. I close my eyes and am reminded of my youthful imaginings. Hello my old friend, so glad to hear you again...again.
Merry Christmas, for those of you who seek more in your life, stay hungry and adventurous. For those who seek true happiness, look at what you have, though sometimes it may not be much. And finally for those who don't seek but feel solitude and despair, you're wanted and loved, and I would hug anyone and everyone including you!
This song makes me feel like someone has heard my story, the one about feeling small and insignificant at times but also keeping an eye on the future. Then it hugs me. Thank you. ❤️

Grazie. Adriano.

Christmas wasn't a holiday for me. It was just a day of solitude.
I had a friend who, before passing on this day, gave me a meaning of how to enjoy being along without feeling depressed.
This happened five years ago.
Now, every Christmas, whether I work or ride alone anywhere- be it bus or train,
this tune brings me back to reality without shedding a tear.
Goodbye 2019. You've made my life challenging.
Time to start a new one soon...

This song is my favourite song all the time.
so good!!
This song is incredible
I just finished the movie, and what a tale it was! Those feelings inside the soldiers which always hit too close to home; the everyday miseries and struggles and even those slight joys of the British POWs in the Japanese army. Truly a masterpiece worth watching again.
Thank you Mr. Sakamoto for the breathtaking character Yonoi. For me, he showed how complex people can be behind their masks, and how much one’s environment has control over them...
Both the movie and music are too stunning for words.

This is the only christmas song that doesn't feel wrong to listen to during summer, i love it
You must be one of the most melancholy people to ever live.
In my country, xmas is in summer too, all the songs are pretty coldish and have snowy vibe, it doesnt fit at all but this one is fresh
Ryan Vigil this song is so much more than a Christmas song, is why
I came here to heal, another year of misery. Thank you.

설국은 이제 개나소나 다 인용해서 너무 진부해졌음. 눈오는 날 카톡확인하면 왠만한 여자애들 카톡 프필 죄다 그거임;;

And finally for those who don't seek but feel solitude and despair, you're wanted and loved, and I would hug anyone and everyone including you!
yes I do ;-;

The world is changing everyday. But hang on to the things that make you who you are. They make you human.
