My parents subscribed/installed HBO in our home just for me to be able to see this. I was fourteen and we lived in Belfast Maine. HBO and Cinemax had just become available in the area several months prior and my parents said no, but when I told them of this concert they made sure I could see it. Good parents. She is still my favorite singer since the age of eight and I am now fifty-nine years old.
OMG that voice. Powerful and tender always surrounded by devoted top talent. Linda never swam in her own reflection - gal just wanted to sing. Divine pure pipes.
I saw Linda Ronstadt & The Stone Ponies in 1970 when, unbelievably, they opened for Led Zeppelin, and that was in Hampton Roads Colosseum, I think. Tickets were $6.50. Imagine, just imagine! I still say to this day not only the greatest concert I have ever seen, but without a doubt at least in my opinion, anyway the greatest voice ever in music! I saw her again I think in 1972, at East Carolina University, and this time by herself and her band. Fortunately, we will have her music around for eternity. I’ll say again, the greatest voice EVER!
@c.s.mcleod7383 Yes indeed. I had nose bleed seats for a David Bowie show in an arena that were $5.50 in 1975. The floor admission was $7.50. $6.50 in '70 seems steep. Saw The Stones in '75 at a stadium for $10!
Whoa ! Linda opening for Led Zeppelin … that is crazy !! Only she could shine so Brightly with that heavenly incredible So Rich, gorgeous goddess of a Voice!
Earth Wind & Fire in Hartford CT on the 1975 weekend Shining Star hit #1 nationally was $7.50, $6.50, and $5.50. It was a little over 2 years later that I saw Linda in concert there for the first time. Cost unremembered.
A voice unmatched. The fact that it has been silenced is one of the saddest things ever. Thankfully we will always have these audio and video recordings to remember what an absolute powerhouse Linda was.

@@tomwesley6714 This will be hard to believe. I bought tickets to her Get Closer date in Connecticut. Something happened that they moved the show from New Haven to a Hartford hall with less than half the capacity of the first place ...and I had trouble selling the extra tickets. Maybe 'the 80s' had really taken hold by then. Too many people lost their minds?
You will not find a more beautiful version of the song Faithless Love than on this recording. It is stellar, and so is Linda Ronstadt. Remembering John David Souther
I was at this show...You had to have a Linda Ronstadt "80" Pin to get in, which they gave away at her Forum Show a day or two before...We went there without Pins and during You're No Good, there was a problem with the sound, so they had to do it over. During the break, a couple of folks left and gave us their Pins...We also saw Sly Stallone walking into the venue. Amazing show with her great Band...Oh and I still have that Pin. 🙂
Thank You for releasing this ! I never had the opportunity to see Linda live so this is a real treat. I have loved this woman & her music for almost 50 years. This is what pure talent & years of perfecting your craft looks like. I wish the singers of today would learn from this Beautiful Lady's example. Pure Class! If by chance Miss Linda you read these comments, know that you are in my prayers & I'm sure that is true of others as well.
Linda Ronstadt is a woman full of class and displays decency in her world of Rock & Roll, she always presents herself like a school teacher, a receptionist in an office, and an airline flight attendant. But yet she delivers the most powerful, stacked Rock & Roll voice that ever existed, and can turn around to do an opera song, her voice is sweet, and yet she can growl like a tiger. Most singers that do live shows always sound different in live shows,, their songs change on stage, and they ruin what they sell to you, but Linda Ronstadt performs just like what we heard on the radio, in her records. She walked on stage to perform with Chuck Berry looking like she walked out of a business office, and belted out some Rock & Roll like it belonged to her. She is such a humble person when speaking in interviews, or as she introduced her back up. She is the "Boss" and does not throw it in your face. Look at her, listen to her, she is all the way every bit an angel with a bad ass Rock & Roll gift to perform.
Her voice commands a room. Her beauty hypnotizes you, and you feel as though you are in heaven❣️ Thank you, Linda Ronstadt, for being the soundtrack of my childhood and helping me sort out the complexities of love❣️👑🎵🎶🎙🎶🎵

I was hooked the first time I heard “Different Drum.” The first time I saw her live was at the Oakland Coliseum when I was in college at one of Bill Graham’s “Day on the Green,” with Loggins & Messina, Linda, and the Eagles! I have always been amazed at the strength, clarity and beauty of her voice. And she has always been a true artist, taking risks by trying and successfully performing different genres - not just rock & country rock, but operatta (Pirates of Penzance), mariachi ranchera, the Great American songbook with her albums with Nelson Riddle. She did it all, and performed them all at a top level. I saw her live 3 times in my life, from when I was 18 to 38 - and every time she gave one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Thank you, Linda, and thank you to whoever put this on TH-cam!
This is by far one of the greatest concerts I’ve ever heard. I waited until my 50th year on the planet to finally witness this . Excellent performance by her and the band and the quality is unmatched.

Wendy always a great voice, Kenny a long time classic with Linda, Danny, Bob and Dan always great. Russ fantastic, was married eventually to Nicolette Larson who left us way too soon. I was 10 when my family briefly had cable (dad didn't believe in paying for television). I was just beginning my drumming journey at that time and had no idea how influential this film would end up being in my mind's eye. Russ Kunkel was a master timekeeper and the band was top-notch. I didn't know it at the time, but this show taught me so much about performance, placement, professionalism and playing for the song. And while my drumming journey took me to 'busier' players like Peart, Moon, Phil, Copeland and endless others, this was really one of the first visual performances I could see. No MTV, social media back then. Being 10 at the time of its release and now being on the backside of 54, I can truly appreciate just how good this band was and there is no equal to what Linda Ronstadt accomplished. Wow the heavy hitters she has playing with her for this gig! From Kunkel on drums to the great Billy Payne on piano. What an incredible lineup and unbelievable performance.
Kootch, Glaub, Kenny and Dan Dugmore too! Outstanding lineup.
This Ronstadt Gal just sang better than everyone else.
You just do not get any better than Linda Ronstadt. Perfect pitch. Sings with emotion. Just smashes it out of the park. All of this AND so attractive! Linda, you are the best! Ever!
THANK YOU WHOEVER....FOR THIS GIFT!!!😶🌫😍😎
Me too

Great version of Willin in this concert
She did not write songs, what she did is she sang
Everyone elses songs even better than the origanal....made a careew
Of this..
Love her, still listening in 2024
Yes.
Linda's the Female Elvis. She could sing anything and make it better
For Guys - in the late 60s and on into the 70s if you were into music at all, you had a Crush on Linda Ronstadt ! And most of us still do. She's Special!
What a talent. Linda really made it look easy. Such power and clarity.
$6.50 for tickets in 1970 is actually a bit pricey.
@c.s.mcleod7383 Yes indeed. I had nose bleed seats for a David Bowie show in an arena that were $5.50 in 1975. The floor admission was $7.50. $6.50 in '70 seems steep. Saw The Stones in '75 at a stadium for $10!
@@DarylH56 I remember ZZ Top in 1975 was $7.00. So a ticket in 1970 of $6.50 was high
Whoa ! Linda opening for Led Zeppelin … that is crazy !! Only she could shine so Brightly with that heavenly incredible
So Rich, gorgeous goddess of a Voice!
Earth Wind & Fire in Hartford CT on the 1975 weekend Shining Star hit #1 nationally was $7.50, $6.50, and $5.50. It was a little over 2 years later that I saw Linda in concert there for the first time. Cost unremembered.
When Linda finished Blue Bayou in Spanish, I have to admit, I got a little choked up. She made it sound so beautiful ❤
This is as close as I'll ever get to knowing what it would've been like to hear her live. My heartfelt thanks.
It was awesome!
Amazing recording
A voice unmatched. The fact that it has been silenced is one of the saddest things ever. Thankfully we will always have these audio and video recordings to remember what an absolute powerhouse Linda was.
Ms. Linda Ronstadt Wow ! You are so beautiful and your voice is one of a kind . My Dad and I always played your records . My favorite song when I was a girl " Blue Bayou" The song has a special place in my heart because of mi papa. Thank you Ms. Linda Ronstadt for your music .
@@GinaMosqueda-fe5ms yes" now with the car after wards and the whole thing Linda I ain't 🚫❌am go🚫❌ing to well ❤️🩹 don't Listen to me like""" this fun concert has started you singing,"oh how coild i leave now!!;

Roy Orbison she helped make known his career
Hmmm. ... I did not know that. Wow she is very talented. She is amazing . Thank you @@stevenpetlak7540
Beautiful with such an iconic voice. There will NEVER be another Linda. ❤
For all of those who never saw Linda live and are under the impression that she was really good live in concert, you are under the right impression. Phenomenal. I saw her on the Get Closer tour, probably about a year after this.
Was there ever any actual concert footage from Linda’s Get closer Tour? I know there was an audio only concert from Dallas Texas in 1983.
Nothing can compares to Linda❤🎶❤She is simply the best🎶❤
I miss those days of pure music. Love you Linda.❤❤❤
agree
I absolutely loved her cover version of Elvis Costello's song "Party Girl"!!! Her vocal range is WOW... just WOW!!!❤️💯🔥
You knew she was going to be one of the all time greats when you first heard sing, and she did not disappoint!
Yes❤
Her voice commands a room. Her beauty hypnotizes you, and you feel as though you are in heaven❣️ Thank you, Linda Ronstadt, for being the soundtrack of my childhood and helping me sort out the complexities of love❣️👑🎵🎶🎙🎶🎵
linda's great of course but lets acknowledge this incredible band.
The moment at the beginning of heatwave when linda looks straight at the camera and raises her eyebrows at you,a special moment for all her fans.
She's amazing but lets not forget that incredible band that backed her up , I'm sure she loved them too.
Hearing Linda sing "Faithless Love" is so sweet. ❤❤❤x
This is what you call music.
Linda’s Live Concert in Offenbach Germany 1976 is a great Concert 🎶 as well. Anything she does live or in the studio is always the best of the best Amazing talent!!! ❤🎵
She is great❤
Pure sweetness and joy needed more than ever . . Lets never give up on America
44 years ago , where have the years gone, it seems like yesterday .
❤
One of the best voices EVER!!!❤
This is by far one of the greatest concerts I’ve ever heard. I waited until my 50th year on the planet to finally witness this . Excellent performance by her and the band and the quality is unmatched.
I love all her genre, her Latin songs are heart warming. Her music is from the heart, you can feel it. She remained in my Humble despite her wealth & fame❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤
Shows You just how magnificient and Beautiful Voice This Woman had, A Beautiful Soul, Inside and Out! She will Forever be in our Hearts and Minds! God Bless and Watch over Linda ...
What a voice
Driving and this audio quality is A+++. Linda's vocals always pitch perfect.
Miss Ronstadt is a rare talent. Great band, great performance and great video!
Linda is and will always be one of the greatest voices of generations the ultimate crossover artist no matter what genre it was, she could sing all and did!!! Just Pure Authentic Talent ❤🎶Thank You Linda for giving us the Soundtrack of our Lives ❤️🎵
Killer voice. Killer line-up of musicians. Great job on the harmonies by Wendy Waldman and rock-solid beat by Russ Kunkel. Mad Love is an album that is often overlooked but it's punchy as hell.
I liked all her albums, but Mad Love is my favorite. The energy and emotion of ...Make You, Look Out..., I Can't Let Go. Terrific!
Every one in that audience was truly blessed to have been there and experience that concert ... great musicians ... great vocals ... and they all enjoyed performing with each other ... 44 years has passed since this concert and it's as fresh as the day it was performed.
What a truly great singer Linda Ronstadt is.
Thanks for putting a big smile on my face just being able to see and hear Linda and her band.
@gingercat555~~I hear ya~~She'll always be one of my fave female vocalists ever~~I was Blessed to have seen her in concert right around this time in Syracuse N.Y.~~I went to see Linda but at that concert was Willie Nelson, Emmy Lou Harris and The Stray Cats~~I took my Ma cause she never went anywhere~~She was blown away by the filled huge arena and music and of course Linda was the best~~I bought my Ma a beer but she never drank~~I told her it's a concert so you have to drink a beer~~So funny she got a little buzzed and was so cute~~I'd been listening and loving Linda from the first time I saw her and heard her sing~~My Ma finally realized why I adored her so much~~Seems like yesterday I can still see the arena and the whole show~~One of the highlights of my life~~I still cry when I found out what happened to her~~I pray for her but at lrast I can still watch her and her videos~~God be with her~~Take care now and have a great day/nite and stay safe~~😃😃😃💖💖💖🙏🙏🙏~~
One of the great regrets of my life was never getting to see a Linda Ronstadt concert. I grew up in northern Canada and left for South Africa in 1984, and never had a chance to see her live. Thanks for this Linda, I will watch and re-watch it for as many years as I have left.
I was 19 and Linda being my favorite and still my favorite female artist, I had to see her in concert. It was in Pennsylvania, I think Valley Forge. It was this tour and I loved it. The only Big name artist I ever saw in concert, ever. I still listen to you Linda, Thanks for so much enjoyment over the years. I believe She is one of the best ever!!!
My wife, sister and brother went to a music jam in a small hole in the wall place in Denver Colorado in the late 60's? I knew then, she would MAKE IT! She was fabulous and worked her way to the top. ❤
Wendy Waldman, what a great job done here
The total package. Incredible Voice, Beauty & Band. Could take an old song & make it a smash hit. An incredible talent…
Excellent show! What a fabulous voice, and what a stellar band!
Wendy always a great voice, Kenny a long time classic with Linda, Danny, Bob and Dan always great. Russ fantastic, was married eventually to Nicolette Larson who left us way too soon. Bill Payne made those keys talk! Peter didn't always play in the band, but his contributions were fun and needed. Love the cow bell and his harmonic background vocals. And then Linda's crystalline pipes! Just wow. Desperado the cream de la creme! I want to see the next tour on here. Get Closer. Please. Thanks for posting this one.
Bob had a beard when he played on Jackson's 'Running on Empty Tour'. He looks younger clean shaven.
When Linda hit the high notes, a chill goes through our body. Love you Linda. 💞
Just wonderful. First heard her on The Old Grey Whistle Test in the UK in Autumn '76 when 20. I had just broken up with my fiance and was heartbroken. "It doesn't matter anymore" helped! Loved all her music ever since. Every blessing.
Was I the only one who fell hopelessly when I saw Linda sing live? Sadly only one time but gratefully at least one time.
@khoury2000~ loved this woman since day 1~~Obsessed~~I was fortunate enough to see her in concert in Syracuse N.Y. in the 80's along with Emmy Lou Harris, Willie Nelson and The Stray Cats~~One heck of a show~~Only went to see Linda and can still remember her singing~~Stole the show~~I only have the memories of Linda and sort of remember all the others~~Seems like yesterday~~A concert I will never forget~~God be with her and please give her many Blessings~~There will never be another Linda~~Have a great day/nite and stay safe~~💖💖💖💖💖
The variety, power, strength and mastery of her craft is obvious.
Frigging amazing. From first to last number, her voice is astonishing. And that is one tight band, with one of my favorites from Little Feat on keyboards.
Beautiful and incomparable! I will always be in love with the gorgeous, talented and intelligent Ms Linda.
My all time favorite singer, at the top of her game.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a band! Wow. And Linda is... well... she's just out of this world good. Oh, I loved the "Mad Love" album. I was 19 and I had the cassette tape. Threw it in my Pioneer Super Tuner and cranked it up as I cruised around town in my Mustang. Those were the days.
