I do always think that you need to invest in a decent tool set. At the very least, a Ratchet. I’ve had the halfords advanced tool set for over 6 years now and it’s invaluable and comes with a lifetime warranty.Combine that with a decent set of handled Allen keys, torque wrench and other bits, and you’ll be laughing and no longer struggling. Keep up the good work dude!
Having just gone to get replacement Allen sockets for the ones which snapped on my Himmy yesterday, I totally agree. I love that they will replace broken parts for free for life.
The “Messerschmitt “ twitch is something we should all practice regularly even with mirrors! For those non “flyers”, that’s glancing over the shoulder for unexpected traffic! Another very useful and informative video. Thank you!
The Interceptor is a good looking bike, the mods you are doing are making it look great. It still amazes how often a few careful mods can make such a big difference to the appearance. 👍
I had visions of the tank getting scratched or dinged when you were having problems with the bar end mirrors, I always covet the tank & painted parts when there's a chance of slipping etc, also always take your watch off, saves the chance of any accidental damage, bit over the top maybe but I've learnt from previous gaffes 👌
Since you are blessed with both the Royal Enfield & Triumph Speed Twin might I suggest a comparison video. I bet there are a number of riders out there who are trying to decide between them. Similarities, differences, pros, cons. Thanks !
A good little tip which does use the grab handle, is buying a bicycle rear light from Wilkinson that flashes alternately or just on, so if you are unlucky enough to break down or get a puncture in a unlit road you will still have rear lights, as it does not seem possible to have lights with ign switched off (Wilco light fits in mins to grab bar)
Nice enjoyable video and a good example of how some simple (and relatively cheap) mods can make a significant difference. The bar end mirrors really do look fantastic on that.
The Enfield is such a good looking bike TMF, and being such a good price it will be a joy to 'fettle'!. The Tec parts and how to videos are excellent . I saw a 'scrambler' style Interceptor at Goodwood last week, with a small flyscreen, it looked brilliant. , Cheers, Steve
I cringed when you said “how hard can it be?” That is usually the precursor to having to drill out stripped bolts or spending the afternoon fishing a bolt out of the deepest darkest recesses of the fairing/engine. Fun video! RE looks great TMF. Maybe some RAM mount balls in the mirror mounts? Peace!
Great. Ideal watching this at home, what with the bad weather and me recovering from a cold. True what a weight some of those parts are. I just bought a second hand 2019 CB500X as a second bike (to my T120) and took the pannier racks off, which weigh a helluva lot, but adding a centre stand, which also weighs a lot. Those bar end mirrors look great. Well done and thanks.
Nice vid & good to see bodger after my own heart! Amazing how relatively minimal mods can make such a big difference to the appearance & riding experience.
As somebody has already suggested, go to Halfords and get one of their excellent tool kits. 1/4 drive sockets and proper Allen tools are very useful around a 'bike. I winced when you brought out that cheap Allen tool😞

Halfords do a cracking little torque wrench Andy if your getting into more future mods. I take parts off my Bmw to clean sometimes and its perfect just to get the factory torque settings correct. Getting rid of them mirrors for the bar ends has just made it more beautiful

Your channel is flying Andy amazing. You could have the seat covered in a nice light brown leather with a cream piping that would look stunning on there. It will match your scrambler jacket. Excellent vid
Two things for me in this install I would have done differently. I would always cover the tank when working on the handle bar area. Sometimes, I even cover the front fender as I have made expensive mistakes as the spanner or socket drops free and onto the metal painted bits. Also, you could have pulled out the factory bar weights by attaching the factory screw back into the weights, then using a large pair of pliers or crescent wrench to provide a solid piece to hammer against using a dead blow mallet against to drive out the screw/bar weights. Then use the new bar end/weight as it was designed. Good video though, with good content. Looking forward to see your transformation of the RE. Cheers from Arkansas.
Or fitting the appropriate size socket to internally accept the bar-end weight, a washer or two stacked over the end of the socket and a long enough bolt to fit into the bar-end weight threaded hole.
New mirrors and leavers look great but I would never be tempted to ride a motorcycle with out mirrors in today’s traffic just to make the bike look better stay safe interceptor is looking cool now🔧🔩⚙️👍
Hope you are enjoying the RE. Had mine 2weeks and done 400 miles. It’s the lowest hp and biggest grin factor bike I’ve owned. PS. Just ordered same levers 👍

I am thinking about getting an Interceptor next year and slowly turning it into a proper scrambler over a couple of years. I want it to be a long term/keep forever bike completely mod'd out for my personal tastes and satisfaction without the concern of resale.
Hi TMF that would be a cracking idea to scramblerize it. A good pair of nobbly tyres, 2 into 1 titanium exhaust, beak front mudguard ( GS style), tidy up the rear end with a GS style number plate, matt black the engine, paint the wheels black, sump guard, engine bars, you could even get Del Boy involved foand Sealey for some tools
Mirrors confuse me...says the man who flies a plane lol, I always place an old towel over the tank when doing anything with the handlebars as a precaution, looking good, Tec mufflers as well?
A good habit to get in to is, every time you take a bolt out or nut off add some anti seize grease before you put it back. (Or if it was threadlocked, replace the threadlock.). It makes life so much easier further down the line. I'm interested to see how the scamblerize project evolves as I was contemplating one of the new Norton Rangers but can't really justify the cost of one as a second bike. This may be a more wallet friendly option.
Hi TMF.Well done mate.Another good video. If I could suggest you might want a 3/8 ratchet set from Halfords. You can buy the Torx and Allen key bits individually and I would also advise covering the tank with a blanket to protect it from dropped parts or accidental slips with a tool that slips off.No criticism,I've learnt the hard way.
It's good to have a toy to tinker with and change things to one's liking, I watch you Vid and like it. I may do what you do to your interceptor if I buy one. . Keep up the good work. With thanks
Very nice ..even I the pureist think the tek(Tec, ?) parts are well made and functional as well as asthetically pleasing ..so they must be good !. A bit of blue thread lock on the bar end mirrors and a touch of copper grease on the grab rail bolts will see you well in the future . Looking forward to the further scramblerisation . Peace and love young Mr Flyer 👍🏻☮❤

Good evening Mr Flyer. I'm looking at the TEC bar end mirrors for my Inter too. They have a good vid that might help you eliminate that gap and make them more rigid. Looking at the bar end weight and the end of the handlebar they are half-recessed so that they fit together without spinning. TEC recommend that you get busy with a file for a minute or two and do this to the part they supply. That will close up the gap and help stop anything moving. Good vid though. When will we see you actually riding it, and when will you tell us about those aftermarket pipes (did I miss it?). Keep up the good work.
Looks a wedge better. On my Moto Guzzi V7 I was able to turn the mirror mounts upside down to hide the holes, but it doesn't look like you can on the RE
One thing to check when changing the levers is the up and down movement. With a proper bush arrangement there should be no up or down movement or play. So many standard levers have way too much play in the up and down direction, indicating poor tolerances. A good reference is normally the levers on a BMW. These always seem to be precise with very little play. Just a thought, can the mirrors be mounted below the bars for a cleaner look. Not sure if you would be able to see behind in this arrangement but it works on some bikes.
TheMissendenFlyer I am glad i read the comments first, as I was going to say exactly the same thing. Should they not be hanging down under the bars not above?? Looks way better now though. Cracking job Andy. Need to invest in a set of decent Allen keys my friend.
Looks heaps better minus the grab handle!👍🏼 Just an aside TMF in getting that end weight off with said “dubious” Allen key. Just a tap on the drive end(?), not the leverage end of the key as you “try” to undo it sometimes can be enough to loosen it. But yeah done the bloody same with inferior tools! Like the adjustable levers too, & bar end mirrors. Looks trick😎
Mate, I’m thinking there was a wee bit of blue loctite on those bar ends! Thinking the vibration would warrant a bit of them on there as well. Just a thought
I was thinking the same - can remember buying some aftermarket mirrors for my old XT660x - couldn't see a thing due to vibration induced blurring, switched back to the OE items! Be interesting to see how these perform.
Quite right Beozzie… Warming the screw with a hot air gun will soften the thread locker, the same as you do when removing brake discs (Harley manuals even tell you to warm the disc bolts to 'touch hot' before trying to undo them). Expanding bar plugs normally require the screw to be undone a few turns, then tapped with a hammer to return the expander inside, allowing the clamping part to retract and release the plug. They work the same way as a Rawl Bolt.
If you mess around fitting or changing stuff on handlebars ever again, put a thick towel over the tank. You only have to slip with a spanner or drop a nut once on the tank. I know from experience.
@@TheMissendenFlyer Sorry. I took my mirrors of my old T100 bonnie off and slipped with my spanner and took a lovely chip of paint off the top of the tank. Whenever i rode it after i could see the chip when i looked at the speedo.. broke my heart..had the whole tank re sprayed.
TEC Bike parts do produce quality accessories. Good to see your honesty in letting the viewers know that the accessories were given to you, as there are a few motorcycle TH-camrs I use to watch who have now turned into Social Media Influencers and allowing viewers to think they have been out and bought parts, accessories, tools etc. No doubt the lure of money and the thought giving up the mundane day job has turned them into snake oil salesmen. Surely TH-cam should make it compulsory that youtubers declare free gifts, I follow a channel called Double Boost and when John does a reviews he is always dead honest and declares that the tool was given to him and when people use the affiliate links he is paid a small commission Great new website ------------------------------
I am seriously considering one of these next year to be my 'weather's a bit rough so I'll use the Enfield' kind of bike. Do you think it will hold up ok to rain and salty roads? 🤔👍
That insert comes out. If you screw the bolt back in a few turns and then tap it; you'll break the taper that is holding the (two piece) insert in and you can draw the piece out with the bolt. There should be new inserts with the bar end mirror set.
Hello TMF loving the MODS.. the bar ends worked out ok.. But what may make your life easier later is the fact that if you had simply wound back the allen head screw with the key and tapped the allen screw back into the bar it would have pushed the wedge shaped cone inside the bar end, which causes the aluminium bit that you were thinking of filing down to expand and grip the inside of the bar then the whole thing would pull out. I'm sure that if you look at the one that came with the mirror you will get the idea. But they'd on as it is and they won't go anywhere. I'm sure that many people will inform you about this but it is one in the memory bank for later..Best regards
Nice work TMF - the Interceptor looks great. Recently put a set of Puig bar ends on my Ducati Scrambler. First in an upright position which looked good then flipped them to an underneath position a couple days ago and now they look great. Mind you they don't work as well but I always check my 6 when maneuvering anyway. BTW - I've noticed a guitar hanging up in some of your vids. Do you do your own background music?
I think the bike looks a lot better with the new aftermarket wing mirrors fitted. I've seen other motorcycles with the wing mirror hanging below the handlebar, I think that they are OK but it is a greater movement from looking straight ahead to looking that far down. I would much prefer the mirrors you've fitted as sometimes with the positioning of the mirrors you see a lot of your arm and not much else (at least that was my experience mountain biking). Have you noticed a better view from the new positioning and do the mirrors have a concave or blind spot feature?
It does look better without the mirrors. It would look sick with out the turn signals also but i guess those are needed items. Its a sweet bike for under 6gs US brand new i might just have to buy one.
Have to say though you gave a thumbs up for the parts, those bar end mounts for the mirrors are clearly not made specifically for that bike. If they were they would have had a milled base to match the groove on the bars that they could not fill. They look nice and I'm sure will last well, and for a freebie it's fine but had I paid for anodised alloy parts like that I'd be wanting a better fit 🤷🏻♂️
Those barends...I think that bit inside the handlebar is suppose to be removed. And use those expanding bits to mount the new round bit for the mirror. That's what I did in my Honda anyway.
Nice videoTMF, i would say that not grinding the lugs off, where the sissy bars go, is a better idea, you might want to put them back on if you sell the bike at some stage.
I love you! Thank you so much for your content and sharing it with us! All the best! Love this stuff! Very nice garage by the way! Are the rest of your bikes just outside?

Expanding bar plugs normally require the screw to be undone a few turns, then tapped with a hammer to return the expander inside, allowing the clamping part to retract and release the plug. They work the same way as a Rawl Bolt.
Looks great. Seriously thinking about one of these when I get back to UK next year.
Blue locktite for the mirrors?
If you mess around fitting or changing stuff on handlebars ever again, put a thick towel over the tank. You only have to slip with a spanner or drop a nut once on the tank. I know from experience.
You’re about the 4th person to mention that!
Surely TH-cam should make it compulsory that youtubers declare free gifts,
I follow a channel called Double Boost and when John does a reviews he is always dead honest and declares that the tool was given to him and when people use the affiliate links he is paid a small commission
Great new website

Thank you Tic - appreciate your feedback and comments!
Looks better, I wonder if you can swap them over so they become underslung?
Really beautiful video
Really good job
So beautiful bike
Im waiting the delivery of my new interceptor
Congratulations - you'll love it!
@@TheMissendenFlyer thank you very much I appreciate that 😊. Im waiting your video about exhaust tec sound ecc. I stay tuned😉
I am seriously considering one of these next year to be my 'weather's a bit rough so I'll use the Enfield' kind of bike. Do you think it will hold up ok to rain and salty roads? 🤔👍
Time will tell! If you look after it I don’t see why not....
Much better lighting this time. I thought the touring seat on the Continental felt and looked a lot better than the standard seat as well.
Great improvements, especially the mirrors.
Looks much better, barends give it a lower profile, nice 👍
Nice work TMF - the Interceptor looks great. Recently put a set of Puig bar ends on my Ducati Scrambler. First in an upright position which looked good then flipped them to an underneath position a couple days ago and now they look great. Mind you they don't work as well but I always check my 6 when maneuvering anyway. BTW - I've noticed a guitar hanging up in some of your vids. Do you do your own background music?
hehe, nope.....
100% better looking 👍🏼
So many people looking to buy a retro bike. Would be nice to do a comparison between the Interceptor & the Speed Twin. Which one gives a bigger smile?
Thanks for this these are the exact upgrades I am thinking of doing. Although I still think I am too clueless to change those levers... haha!
They work great - and no, no concave-ness that I've noticed...
The mods really good, fair play
I love you! Thank you so much for your content and sharing it with us! All the best! Love this stuff! Very nice garage by the way! Are the rest of your bikes just outside?
Decent tools for Xmas a must.
Now that does look better. I'm still not sure about putting knobbley's on though.👍
The interceptor is the perfect scrambler base, I plan to do the same . The seat is gone the day I buy mine.
Nice video as always but you needed to follow the video on the fitting of the mirror at Techbikeparts you need to get your file out and lock tight
