Thank you I have been thinking about this, and appreciate this share! I’m 16 years into my Cushings and struggling to be properly diagnosed and need treated. I suffered a giant right coronary artery fistula with 2 aneurysms in 2016, which was asymptomatic and found incidentally and repaired. It’s been 4.5 years since and worry of new damage, as my Cushings was still not diagnosed then.
Such a nightmare. Everyone in the support groups speak of you “Dr F” and are all so anxious and excited to see you. They’re desperate for treatment and have been unable to find adequate diagnosis and care. Thank you so much for all that you do. I’ve made a promise to myself, that if I can obtain proper diagnosis and treatment, I’m going back to school and will do whatever is necessary to help women like myself, who have been disregarded, misunderstood and deemed “psych” patients.
We’ve been told our symptoms are “psychosomatic” and completely ignored. My own PCPs progress notes from visits have no mention of the several symptoms I’ve brought to his attention in the past two years such as mania, insomnia, extremely excessive daytime sleepiness, memory impairment & loss, loss of time, not to mention the physical metamorphosis.
There are so many of us who are just pessimistic about receiving proper care because it’s NEVER happened before. And my PCP utterly lied 🤥 in my last progress notes, as a means of covering his ass.
My sister, an RN for a big GI DR in NYC tells me not to react to this or mention this to the new Endo he’s referred me to. Because no one wants a patient like that. But what am I to do? Just allow my Dr to lie and paint a very skewed picture? It’s just devastating. So I admire what you do and God Bless you Dr. Friedman. This world needs you. We need you!

Hi Nat524Ricci! I sure would like to find out if you’ve been able to see Dr. Friedman. He truly is a “Savior Doc,” as one woman named him. I had the same experience you describe with my early endos, but when I saw Dr. Friedman he said, “Of course it’s all in your head! It’s your pituitary gland!” That was 14 years ago, and I’m healthier now than I ever thought I’d be, all thanks to Savior Doc.

@@stevie4913 yes!!! I sure did. In 3 visits between July 2021 and Feb 2022 I was diagnosed and by August 2022 had my pit surgery in Pittsburgh w Dr Jho. But no remission - so I’m testing cortisol again and am wanting to pursue a BLA.
I could have a secondary source ectopic elsewhere bc ACTH is quite high, but who knows. I’m just so done. It’s been 18 years now. I took Keto from Feb 22 to August 22 before surgery, it did work but only for about 6 weeks, then I became florid.
Dr F helped me get to where I needed to be. I’m forever grateful. Journey isn’t over yet!!

Very disappointing there is no mention of strengthening the immune system, such as having adequate VIT D, that plays a major role in regulating cytokines. Cytokine storm can be the killer. Low Vit D is common in endocrine patients...and ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Other flu vaccines have been shown to increase cytokine storm among military studies/recipients.

I agree, and Dr Friedman is always reminding us to keep up our D and B12 levels at every appointment. Not sure why it wasn’t mentioned here, but maybe bc it is universally a given.
