15:41 funniest scene of an old lady being killed? Iol. Also, it's so sad to see those iconic locations gone or have been demolished. And I agree that Kate's story is the most depressing Christmas story ever, it freaked me out as a kid.
Man that Chinatown set was masterful. It really made you feel like it took place in NYC. So much movie magic happened in the 80s. This movie is just an all time classic.
Me and a friend went to go see Gremlins when it was originally released in theaters. It was the first time we went to go see a film in a theater all by ourselves. We took the RTD bus from our neighborhood over to the Glendale Galleria to see it. Good times.
Damn dawg, considering that many of the locations were “inaccessible”, you nailed this episode. I remember being scared as hell when I watched Gremlins as a kid, yet nowadays I see how funny it is. By the way, some of those set locations look a lot like Nightmare on Elm street scenes (I don’t recall you doing any episodes on Nightmare on Elm street by the way… or did you? Hahaha, Gen-Xer getting old). Thank you for another good episode Kurt!
Great video!! You left us on a cliffhanger! Will there be anymore 80's life videos? Did Kurt survive the attack? All of these questions and many more will be answered on the next episode of...80's life. I bet you thought i was going to say soap?
I had to do a double take on the police officer. Knew that was Jonathan Banks. Of course I didn't know that when it first came out. Great job as usual. Love the ending. Thanks!
Thank u brutha , this was a trip down memory lane , always watch gremlins at christmas , look forward to watching more of your videos 👍 support from Auckland New Zealand 💯😎
Omg how amazing is this? It's simple, but it's so interesting to get all these locations in one spot but over 2 locations, Absolutely brilliant kurt 10/10 from me. Keep up the amazing work, and I'm looking forward to the next one.. Oh.. have you all noticed when Mrs deagle is killed the gremlins cuts the break cable on the police car, when the police car drives off it slows down and the break lights come on lol...
The first X-mas movies that popped into my head were Elf and Bad Santa. Elf was filmed in New York and Vancouver, BC, Bad Santa takes place Phoenix but it was all filmed in California, Long Beach stood in for Miami Beach and Thurman's house was in West Hills.
Funny, I just watched that Movie again on Saturday, 1st time since it came out. I was thinking, Where did they film that and then you posted this. Great work.
Thank you for mentioning Lethal Weapon as a Christmas movie. While I don't think Die Hard is actually a Christmas movie, if you accept Die Hard as one then you have to count Lethal Weapon and a lot of "Die Hard is a Christmas movie" advocates never even think about Lethal Weapon.
On the movie theater marquee. A Boy’s life was the working title for E.T and Watch the Skies was the pre-production title for Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
It’s always amazing to me how many iconic movies, that you thought were filmed all over on location, were actually shot in just a couple of places on a backlot. Kind of ruins the illusion rewatching them in some ways. As an adult today, I guess I can sort of tell if I think about it. But especially as a kid in the 80’s, I really had no idea and didn’t even think about it.
I think the film history in all those locations adds greatly to the charm and was probably done intentionally for that reason. It’s kind of an homage to classic films in several ways.
Christmas story 🎄❄️☃️Love my favorite one fan Big Mary Christmas 🎄 ☃️ ❄️ Happy New year 2024 🎉 Universal studios Hollywood ⭐ love my favorite one fan Big
I was watching this about a month ago and it popped in my head no one has done movie location vids. Then I realized the whole thing was back lots and sound stages.
A lot of people today will say their favorite Christmas movie is Die Hard. Mine is Gremlins. You could even remove the creatures and still have a good Christmas movie with Mrs. Deagle as some Scrooge-like character.
I don’t know why but when i was a kid that movie creeped me out flinging an old lady out of the window and tying their dog up with Christmas lights really messed me up but definitely Gremlins all in all is a holiday classic.
They could use some that set if they decide to make Gremlins 3, the 3rd film would or could be a trip back to Kingston Falls Billy Peltzer's home town, but they could rebuild that set in some other studio on a different location or even film inside.
Btw the science teacher's phone on his desk can only call the school office and perhaps other classrooms but it can't call off campus - that's why he used the pay phone :)

Practical effects are so much better than CGI
I’m just rewatching Gremlins now and that scene made me want to find out where it was shot.
One of my favourite movies of all time. So much nostalgia for this.
My mom and I would watch Gremlins every Christmas eve!
I love the ending that was so funny
Awesome work super informative. I learned a lot. Great research. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

The ultimate Christmas horror classic!!
I can't say how many times i have seen this movie. I saw it in the cinema and countless other times. It's a great christmas movie and a real classic.
One of the all time greats!

I love the font that they used for the DJ's billboard.
My friend, I’m replying before I’ve watched but literally just watched one of my favourite Christmas movies. Merry Christmas from the UK

Merry Christmas. Thanks for all the great videos and looking forward to more in 2024
Fantastic!!
Incredible research, thank you very much.

You do a perfect Norm McDonald impression
Awesome job . I love seeing backlots and how they were used. Thanks for a great video !!!!!!
🎅Thank you, what a great video! Gotta luv them 80s! Merry Christmas!🐪🌴🌲!
Another GREAT video. Keep up the good work
One of your best videos. Loved how this was more of an 80's movie filming location video, done through Gremlins.
Great video as always Kurt. That Christmas jumper is so cool pal 👌🏻
Man I gotta say you do excellent work. This was a lot of work. Just awesome stuff.
I really appriciate the work you put into this! Thank you

I never realized the teacher was Mayor Royce from The Wire.
Excellent thank you so much for this. My favourite Christmas movie- brings back so many childhood memories.
Great stuff as usual, Kurt! Happy Holidays.
Such a comprehensive and enjoyable then and now
Still kind of sad to see that soo much has been demolished. For me this would be holy ground 😊.
Gremlins is my all time Favorite..thanks for this one.
Love This 80s Classic.
I wish they made movies like this today
Love it!!!
Faviot 80s movie

Such a great flick.....one of my favorites especially on the holiday season thanks for sharing dude great video
Love the movie. Thanks for sharing all of these locations with us.
Brilliant
I love how you commented on goofs like the phone on his desk in the office or the tiny outfits for all the Gremlins! Hahaha
The first X-mas movies that popped into my head were Elf and Bad Santa. Elf was filmed in New York and Vancouver, BC, Bad Santa takes place Phoenix but it was all filmed in California, Long Beach stood in for Miami Beach and Thurman's house was in West Hills.
Thank you Kurt! Sad to see those sets go. So much history disappearing. It is good that you and others have documented much of it.
You can still watch the movies on repeat tho, which is a good thing.
Die Hard & Gremlins would be my 2 favorite Xmas movie.
Phoebe was so hot. One of my first crushes for sure back then.
That was really enjoyable to watch! Thank You!
I swear that damn story she tells about her dad haunted me growing up.
Cool video very informative..thought they were making Grimlins 3?
Funny, I just watched that Movie again on Saturday, 1st time since it came out. I was thinking, Where did they film that and then you posted this. Great work.

Happy Holiday
You did a fantastic job. Don't think anyone could have done better 🎉
On the movie theater marquee. A Boy’s life was the working title for E.T and Watch the Skies was the pre-production title for Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
I zoomed in on the phone on the desk and it doesn't have a dial or numbers. It was most likely just linked to the front office. :)
Great video - Billy's mum was a bad ass.

This is one movie I wish they would have filmed in an actual suburb. This is totally a Christmas movie tho!!
I think the film history in all those locations adds greatly to the charm and was probably done intentionally for that reason. It’s kind of an homage to classic films in several ways.
Awesome
Great one again! Isn’t that the same rug as Be Kind?
Dang, I’m almost Mrs Deagle’s age. 😅
Nice!!!!!
I love your Filming Locations videos! If I had Elon Musk money, I would pay WB and Universal to rent me an apartment on each of their backlots.
Christmas story 🎄❄️☃️Love my favorite one fan Big Mary Christmas 🎄 ☃️ ❄️ Happy New year 2024 🎉 Universal studios Hollywood ⭐ love my favorite one fan Big
The house next to the Gremlins house on the Warner Ranch was also Major Anthony Nelson's house from I Dream of Jeannie.
Awesome video love that movie maybe sometime you can do a porky’s filming locations video no one has ever done one that I’ve seen
being a kid at the time i’ll never forget get the one scene where the gremlin goes “ they’ve got weapons” (SO WHAT!) boom!!! “F**K! 😂😂😂
Legendary movie
😊 I did not know that Howie did the voice of Gizmo! I learned stuff 😊
Another good one Kurt Gremlins filming location but did anybody notice the 1970 AMC Gremlin at the beginning of the movie
Yep saw that, just left a comment.
Love these filming location videos, any ETA of the next Memories of The San Fernando Valley video?
What's good Kirt? Can u consider doing AirHeads with Adam Sandler. It was filmed in LA
I was watching this about a month ago and it popped in my head no one has done movie location vids. Then I realized the whole thing was back lots and sound stages.
You gotta do Predator 2!!
Wish you could do Nightmare On Elm Street!! 😁
A lot of people today will say their favorite Christmas movie is Die Hard. Mine is Gremlins. You could even remove the creatures and still have a good Christmas movie with Mrs. Deagle as some Scrooge-like character.
Kind of a shame how Feldman's life turned out, he seemed like the normal one before Haim passed away, now he's under the impression he's a rock star.
As far as child stars go, many have done a lot worse.
The Chinatown area reminded me of Big Trouble in Little China where his rig is parked in the alley.
Yeah, come to think about it, it is always after midnight 😅
I don’t know why but when i was a kid that movie creeped me out flinging an old lady out of the window and tying their dog up with Christmas lights really messed me up but definitely Gremlins all in all is a holiday classic.
What is the golf course at the start ???
I'm surprised you didn't point out the car the gremlin at 2 minutes and 33 seconds
I've never heard anyone point that out loll
They could use some that set if they decide to make Gremlins 3, the 3rd film would or could be a trip back to Kingston Falls Billy Peltzer's home town, but they could rebuild that set in some other studio on a different location or even film inside.
sad this set was turn down
Btw the science teacher's phone on his desk can only call the school office and perhaps other classrooms but it can't call off campus - that's why he used the pay phone :)
Lol .. my dude rocking mittens and beanie and a scarf😅😅😅😅😅 and its 85 outside that day 😅😅😅😅
🎉🎉🎉
