With regards to your comment about Magearna's beam of light and why it took then so long to find Mohn, my understanding is that they were basically traveling, for argument sake, in a giant circle until they could triangulate the beam of light to find Mohn's exact location. I got really emotional when Mohn regained his memories, and I was surprised that the Shiny Nihilego became part of the family. I absolutely loved this episode, so I'd give it a 10/10.

And i wonder why they did it now? As in i think it would be interested in this was a special episode that aired sometime after the crown tundra’s release.
Yeah my mind was also thinking about when certain decisions were made, even down to Nihilego being Shiny, and how early did they know that this story would culminate with a Shiny Nihilego impersonating Lillie, or when they knew Mohn would be in the Crown Tundra with an Ultra Beast... it's very interesting to think about!
We saw back in Sun & Moon that traveling through Ultra Wormholes doesn't affect the time spent away, so yeah, Mohn has been away for years. If I'm being a bit blunt, your complaints about this episode were more than a little nitpicky. Yes, Ash and company's presence wasn't necessarily needed here, but at the same time, they didn't steal any unnecessary screentime. They only did what was absolutely necessary for them to meet up with Lillie and that's it.
That's fine lol. I still thought this was a good episode, and acknowledged in the video that I was being critical of the episode. I just didn't like it as much as others🤷
just... just listening to the music you can feel everything that happens in this episode: the quite waits, the confusion, the eeriness and suspense and the overjoy of the family reunited at last. It's just so good with this episode it literally puts me in tears.
As a respone to your criticisms, Magearna just shows the direction where Mohn is, not the distance.. like from Alola to Crown Tundra, there must be a whole bunch of places in the same direction as the Crown Tundra and they would have enquired and searched for Mohn in all those places. So reaching the Crown Tundra this late does make sense imo. And abt Ash & co suddenly appearing in the Crown Tundra, it was bcoz that Mayor saw Nihiligo (white & yellow pokemon) in the blizzard & reported that. I know this could be a strech but as time would pass, Nihiligo might roam around farther from the place Mohn was staying at in order find some food or something idk (we can let that pass for anime logic ig😅) and that's why it took a long time for anyone see it and report it, which then ofc led to Ash & co being there Like it's not perfectly sound logic but I think it works for the Pokemon anime and isn't as outrageous as one might think it is😅
Alola and galar are most likely far away from each other, maybe at the exact other side of the planet, so it takes a long while to find and reach that location, by just following a beam of magearnas light. Which just points in one direction, that can't be constantly followed in one direction, due to what roads and vehicles you can use.
I just can't buy that as a reason for why it took them so long if we have already seen Ash and Goh travel the world 50 times over in that same time frame
@@EliteTrainerMark well ash and goh use the airplane a lot, while it seems that Lillie, Lusamine and Gladion keep using their own train. So ash and goh can travel a little bit faster and know their end location. While lillie, lusamine and gladion don't know their end location until they reach it and due to the train less directions they can use.
9.8/10, I just felt like the information about Mohn and the Ultra Beasts should have been explained to Goh and Chloe by Ash properly so they wouldn’t be standing in the background confused but happy for the Lille’s family, even though they're obviously not the main focus of this episode.

lol I used to always get copyright claims for the clips I used, but from lots of practice and trial and error I learned what worked and what did not work, so it has been over a year since I got any copyright claims. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

About that whole thing about it taking much longer for Lillie, Gladion, and Lusamine to arrive than Ash Goh, and Chloe, Lillie was taking a boat to the Crown Tundra while Ash was taking a plane. The plane would have to be faster. Given the fact that accessing the Crown Tundra is only possible by flying in the games, I don't think boat travel is very quick. Plus, we don't know where Kanto and Alola are compared to the Crown Tundra. It's probably not just as straight journey to the Crown Tundra, and they probably stopped somewhere along the way. And as for the amount of time Mohn spent in Ultra Space, I'd speculate it was about a few months. I'm not trying to start an argument here, I'm just pointing out why I don't see these problems with the episode. I'd get into my thoughts with the episode (it was amazing) and opinions on the next, but I'm pretty busy.

10/10 storytelling wise, nit picking how about the physics mechanics are trying to co parallel to journeys length seems willfully cynical, Might be the best episode I think either this or Ash versus Leon which just goes to show how great that episode is considering Leon it's the main antagonist of the series
For the length of time to reach crown tundra, I think they were going at the pace of Ash walking to reach that point and journeys is the first series where Ash uses public transportation excessively. Remember it took ash a whole year to travel per region yet he remains 10 years old. Time is a mysterious concept in that world. I totally understand your criticism, but I feel that this being part of main journeys series lineup rather than a special is a good thing. The anime team in Japan probably wanted this to be seen worldwide in the various countries’ own respective language. If it was a special, there’s a good chance it would not be dubbed. I mean how many of the post-series specials have been dubbed in English that kids were able to see? There isn’t even an English dub of the Arceus special yet so they probably wanted fans to at least see this reunion where it did not even happen in the games as well

I mean that pirate anime, One Piece, with their 1000 episode and 1015, both took 6 months each just to do the special animation. Great review! I respect your opinion on the episode. Personally, I loved it! I have a theory as to why it took Lillie's family so long to reach the Crown Tundra when Ash and Co seemed to get there almost instantly. Lillie's family had no idea where they were going. They were following Magearna's light, which is just a straight beam. That doesn't account for the mountains, cities, etc, that would get in their way and have to change course, only to have to reorient themselves with Magearna's light again. And of course, because Magearna's beam isn't always active, it's possible they overshot the general direction she was pointing, and change course. Especially if they were on a fixed path due to a train or boat, for example. Also, they had no idea how far away Mohn was. For all they knew, he was just beyond the horizon. And with the beam shown to point towards, (and presumably) through mountains (as shown in the Alolan reunion episode), I feel like there could have been times where they would've mistaken THAT to be his location, when in reality, Magearna was pointing THROUGH the mountain (just as an example). Whereas with Ash and Co, I don't think we know how far away Cerise's lab is to Galar compared to Alola, do we? Maybe it's a lot closer than Alola (Correct me if I'm wrong). They also knew exactly where they were going, and probably found a relitively direct route. Also, AFAIK, there wasn't any indication in the episode as to how long it took Ash and Co to get to Galar; so it could've taken some time. Anyway, sorry for the long winded comment, lol. Again, great review!

I struggle to accept travel logistics as the reason why it took Lillie's family so long to find Mohn, I mean even in this episode Lusamine pulled out that new device from the Aether Foundation and got a tent instantly, if they have that kind of resources, I have no doubt in my mind that they could afford to travel by air and find out where the beam of light ends in less than 2 months, and surely more time than that has passed since the end of SM. If it's a straight beam of light, then you could literally draw a straight line on a map and follow that. Idk, I just couldn't watch this episode without thinking about stuff like that. It was still a really good episode though!

I am curious to see Chloe and Lana interact in the next episode, for the first time she won't be meeting another trainer and their Eeveelution, but rather a trainer and their unevolved Eevee. That could cause some progression. Or, maybe just a 5 second scene of two Eevee playing because it looks cute

didn't know Lusamine developed Capsule Corp since leaving Aether Paradise, granted it's not as small as a capsule, but i figure since flying vehicles don't yet exist, this is still in the prototype stage i still remember when they introduced Mohn (though his picture) and when it finally occurred to me that the guy with the straw hat who helped raise our pokemon on the deserted tropical island wasn't just a random, made up game exclusive NPC....and i'm glad (for as long as it took to reunite them, seriously when the Alola Series ended i thought they are never gonna resolve this story ever) they resolved it in the main series (and not some random 13 episode mini series where random episodes featuring familiar characters just happen to interact) this could have been a multi-episode story or even not include Ash at all (unlikely Ash wouldn't have been involved, even if he really didn't do much)....so i get that, but i'm glad we got a resolution....and honestly, if they wanted to follow The family get closer while staying in Freezington, perhaps rebonding while participating in the Calyrex challenge from the game (yes there is no connection, but Glastrier and Spectrier being Lillie and Gladeon's pokemon would be awesome and fit their personalities and styles)...i would have no complaints
Finally getting around to THIS video lol... So I still think that this is the best episode of Pokemon Journeys... But in a way, this doesn't really FEEL like a Pokemon Journeys episode. XD Like Ash, Goh, and Chloe didn't need to be there at ALL but... It is what it is. This was just one hell of an emotional episode when it comes to Lillie and family from beginning to end. Just the RAW emotions felt from just the facial expressions gave me chills at times... Especially a devastated Lusamine in regards to her husband not remembering to Lillie's face when she sees the Shiny Nihilego behind her ready to attack her for seeing too much...! And even outside of that, I think the pacing is actually like REALLY good... Kinda surprising for ME honestly. I love the song that plays on the piano 🎹 it's perfect... I love how this plays off of Nihilego UB-001 looking like Lillie and even disguises herself as Lillie. Very freaky but endearing at the same time! This just hit home with me and it really felt like the closure that fans needed for Lillie and family for years. Probably not a great return episode in terms of progressing Ash, Goh, & Chloe's story... But that's why I even feel like this episode doesn't belong in Pokemon Journeys. XD 9.5/10 but docking some off because arguably Ash, Goh, and Chloe didn't need to be there and outside of Ash didn't really leave that big of an impact on the overall story.
Tbh I don't really care about pokemon's series time line anymore, like ik it took like 100 episode for Lillie and her fam to find their father but u see Ash is still 10 after 1000 episode, so I can't really say much lol. (Anime logic is beyond us normal mortal's understandings)
I'm glad they had a pokemon theme here, I think it was Lillie's or Lusamine's theme she was playing on the piano so makes me curious or well worried what the english dub will replace it with. Since if they remove that theme it will have a whole lot less of an impact, I thought it was 9.5/10 for myself but I can understand why you voted it low. While I like that Ash's pikachu saved Lillie I think it would have been even better if it had been Snowy instead. Since it wouldn't make sense for Gladion since he was down the hall from her and wouldn't have gotten to her in time. Where as Snowy having been by her side a lot, would have gone to check up on her but ah well. Still love the episode all the same since I was a lot more emotionally invested then most episodes since I love S&M but also just love the Aether family a lot plus nice to see Lusamine with her full character on display looking happy. Since we don't really get that in the games to much.
The theme is called something like "Mother and Daughter" and it does come from the SM games, so I think the dub will keep it, maybe alter it slightly since this theme from the episode was a slight alteration from the game OST, but I would be shocked if they replaced it with something totally different

True it was slightly altered but still recognizable at least, but I sadly don't have high hopes since the english version tends to remove all pokemon game ost. Even the battle music which is still one of my biggest gripes even if sometimes it can be better like pokemon 2000 but yeah. But I hope they don't as the people who watch the dub deserve the good music especially this episode. :3

Not disappointed with your rating and respect your opinion as they are your thoughts but when you said 10/10 at 9:15 and after that when you said I'm not , I literally muttered Mo**f** in hindi 🤣 . My ratings are 9/10 though. Agree with the point that this episode should have come earlier. But still 9 felt fair as I loved the way they handled the plot.

Go being there is as important as Ash being in all of May and Dawn contests where his existence add nothing, Ash and Go are research fellows so it doesn't make sense if Go didn't join him and Koharu maybe has some relevance in next episode as she was interacting with Lana and her Eevee
With Ash having the only Melmetal that we know and the anime likes to show off all new pokemon and forms, I wonder if we will ever see Ash gigtantamax Melmetal
I doubt it. There are so many forms yet to be shown, even just going off Gigantamax, there are things like Gigantamax Butterfree or Kingler that we have never seen in the anime, so Melmetal feels about as likely as they would

I don't no about 7/10 dude 😅, tbh I had no hype for this episode I just wasn't invested even tough I loved SM but like always Lillie episodes never fail to top..........It's like the team is always dedicated for her episodes.......so maybe ur first rating is more accurate😗 Also, another imp thing to note is that they had only 1 episode to do this, so I think considering that the episode did most things right, my only gripe with this is first Lusamine leaves her kids alone and then Gladion too leaves Lillie by herselves while a potentially hostile ultra beast is on loose did they not know better.....guess they had to add more shipping fuel so, whatever......anyways I think the bonding between the trio in the first 5 min makes up for lack of their use in this episode

10:04 I've been asking the same thing for Goh's existence! 😏 Why did it took 20 Years in our World for Goh to become a Trainer? What's he been doing while Ash is traveling in 7 Regions!? How did it took Goh this long, for him to be a Trainer!? When Goh and Ash were 6 Years Old, Goh said to himself that he can't wait to be a Trainer and Catch Mew! But for some reason, he only became a Trainer and start his Journey after Ash has been to 7 Regions!? That can't be just a coincidence!? lol I thought Ash was a Guy who's always getting late at something! How did Goh being an early person got late on being a Pokemon Trainer!? But I get it! There are somethings in the Anime that makes no sense I guess! 😒

We all know most of the time Journeys is a flop series. They don't have the great animation like XYZ or best charcters to develemont like Sun & Moon or like best storytelling like Diamond & Pearl. just... just listening to the music you can feel everything that happens in this episode: the quite waits, the confusion, the eeriness and suspense and the overjoy of the family reunited at last. It's just so good with this episode it literally puts me in tears.
As a respone to your criticisms, Magearna just shows the direction where Mohn is, not the distance.. like from Alola to Crown Tundra, there must be a whole bunch of places in the same direction as the Crown Tundra and they would have enquired and searched for Mohn in all those places. So reaching the Crown Tundra this late does make sense imo. And abt Ash & co suddenly appearing in the Crown Tundra, it was bcoz that Mayor saw Nihiligo (white & yellow pokemon) in the blizzard & reported that. I know this could be a strech but as time would pass, Nihiligo might roam around farther from the place Mohn was staying at in order find some food or something idk (we can let that pass for anime logic ig😅) and that's why it took a long time for anyone see it and report it, which then ofc led to Ash & co being there
Like it's not perfectly sound logic but I think it works for the Pokemon anime and isn't as outrageous as one might think it is😅

Alola and galar are most likely far away from each other, maybe at the exact other side of the planet, so it takes a long while to find and reach that location, by just following a beam of magearnas light. Which just points in one direction, that can't be constantly followed in one direction, due to what roads and vehicles you can use.
I just can't buy that as a reason for why it took them so long if we have already seen Ash and Goh travel the world 50 times over in that same time frame
@@EliteTrainerMark well ash and goh use the airplane a lot, while it seems that Lillie, Lusamine and Gladion keep using their own train. So ash and goh can travel a little bit faster and know their end location. While lillie, lusamine and gladion don't know their end location until they reach it and due to the train less directions they can use.

lol I used to always get copyright claims for the clips I used, but from lots of practice and trial and error I learned what worked and what did not work, so it has been over a year since I got any copyright claims. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

About that whole thing about it taking much longer for Lillie, Gladion, and Lusamine to arrive than Ash Goh, and Chloe, Lillie was taking a boat to the Crown Tundra while Ash was taking a plane. The plane would have to be faster. Given the fact that accessing the Crown Tundra is only possible by flying in the games, I don't think boat travel is very quick. Plus, we don't know where Kanto and Alola are compared to the Crown Tundra. It's probably not just as straight journey to the Crown Tundra, and they probably stopped somewhere along the way. And as for the amount of time Mohn spent in Ultra Space, I'd speculate it was about a few months. I'm not trying to start an argument here, I'm just pointing out why I don't see these problems with the episode. I'd get into my thoughts with the episode (it was amazing) and opinions on the next, but I'm pretty busy.

Might be the best episode I think either this or Ash versus Leon which just goes to show how great that episode is considering Leon it's the main antagonist of the series
For the length of time to reach crown tundra, I think they were going at the pace of Ash walking to reach that point and journeys is the first series where Ash uses public transportation excessively. Remember it took ash a whole year to travel per region yet he remains 10 years old. Time is a mysterious concept in that world.
I totally understand your criticism, but I feel that this being part of main journeys series lineup rather than a special is a good thing. The anime team in Japan probably wanted this to be seen worldwide in the various countries’ own respective language. If it was a special, there’s a good chance it would not be dubbed. I mean how many of the post-series specials have been dubbed in English that kids were able to see? There isn’t even an English dub of the Arceus special yet so they probably wanted fans to at least see this reunion where it did not even happen in the games as well
It's still odd to me that this took place 111 episodes into Journeys, couldn't this have happened like 50 or less episodes into this series?

I mean that pirate anime, One Piece, with their 1000 episode and 1015, both took 6 months each just to do the special animation. Heck the Pikachu entrance scene could have at least taken a month to do. Which is probably why they aired this episode at this point in time

I have a theory as to why it took Lillie's family so long to reach the Crown Tundra when Ash and Co seemed to get there almost instantly.
Lillie's family had no idea where they were going. They were following Magearna's light, which is just a straight beam. That doesn't account for the mountains, cities, etc, that would get in their way and have to change course, only to have to reorient themselves with Magearna's light again. And of course, because Magearna's beam isn't always active, it's possible they overshot the general direction she was pointing, and change course. Especially if they were on a fixed path due to a train or boat, for example.
Also, they had no idea how far away Mohn was. For all they knew, he was just beyond the horizon. And with the beam shown to point towards, (and presumably) through mountains (as shown in the Alolan reunion episode), I feel like there could have been times where they would've mistaken THAT to be his location, when in reality, Magearna was pointing THROUGH the mountain (just as an example).
Whereas with Ash and Co, I don't think we know how far away Cerise's lab is to Galar compared to Alola, do we? Maybe it's a lot closer than Alola (Correct me if I'm wrong). They also knew exactly where they were going, and probably found a relitively direct route. Also, AFAIK, there wasn't any indication in the episode as to how long it took Ash and Co to get to Galar; so it could've taken some time.

I struggle to accept travel logistics as the reason why it took Lillie's family so long to find Mohn, I mean even in this episode Lusamine pulled out that new device from the Aether Foundation and got a tent instantly, if they have that kind of resources, I have no doubt in my mind that they could afford to travel by air and find out where the beam of light ends in less than 2 months, and surely more time than that has passed since the end of SM. If it's a straight beam of light, then you could literally draw a straight line on a map and follow that. Idk, I just couldn't watch this episode without thinking about stuff like that. It was still a really good episode though!

I am curious to see Chloe and Lana interact in the next episode, for the first time she won't be meeting another trainer and their Eeveelution, but rather a trainer and their unevolved Eevee. That could cause some progression. Or, maybe just a 5 second scene of two Eevee playing because it looks cute

didn't know Lusamine developed Capsule Corp since leaving Aether Paradise, granted it's not as small as a capsule, but i figure since flying vehicles don't yet exist, this is still in the prototype stage
i still remember when they introduced Mohn (though his picture) and when it finally occurred to me that the guy with the straw hat who helped raise our pokemon on the deserted tropical island wasn't just a random, made up game exclusive NPC....and i'm glad (for as long as it took to reunite them, seriously when the Alola Series ended i thought they are never gonna resolve this story ever) they resolved it in the main series (and not some random 13 episode mini series where random episodes featuring familiar characters just happen to interact)
this could have been a multi-episode story or even not include Ash at all (unlikely Ash wouldn't have been involved, even if he really didn't do much)....so i get that, but i'm glad we got a resolution....and honestly, if they wanted to follow The family get closer while staying in Freezington, perhaps rebonding while participating in the Calyrex challenge from the game (yes there is no connection, but Glastrier and Spectrier being Lillie and Gladeon's pokemon would be awesome and fit their personalities and styles)...i would have no complaints

Finally getting around to THIS video lol...
So I still think that this is the best episode of Pokemon Journeys... But in a way, this doesn't really FEEL like a Pokemon Journeys episode. XD Like Ash, Goh, and Chloe didn't need to be there at ALL but... It is what it is.
This was just one hell of an emotional episode when it comes to Lillie and family from beginning to end. Just the RAW emotions felt from just the facial expressions gave me chills at times... Especially a devastated Lusamine in regards to her husband not remembering to Lillie's face when she sees the Shiny Nihilego behind her ready to attack her for seeing too much...!
And even outside of that, I think the pacing is actually like REALLY good... Kinda surprising for ME honestly. I love the song that plays on the piano 🎹 it's perfect... I love how this plays off of Nihilego UB-001 looking like Lillie and even disguises herself as Lillie. Very freaky but endearing at the same time!
This just hit home with me and it really felt like the closure that fans needed for Lillie and family for years. Probably not a great return episode in terms of progressing Ash, Goh, & Chloe's story... But that's why I even feel like this episode doesn't belong in Pokemon Journeys. XD
9.5/10 but docking some off because arguably Ash, Goh, and Chloe didn't need to be there and outside of Ash didn't really leave that big of an impact on the overall story.

Tbh I don't really care about pokemon's series time line anymore, like ik it took like 100 episode for Lillie and her fam to find their father but u see Ash is still 10 after 1000 episode, so I can't really say much lol. (Anime logic is beyond us normal mortal's understandings)
I'm glad they had a pokemon theme here, I think it was Lillie's or Lusamine's theme she was playing on the piano so makes me curious or well worried what the english dub will replace it with. Since if they remove that theme it will have a whole lot less of an impact, I thought it was 9.5/10 for myself but I can understand why you voted it low. While I like that Ash's pikachu saved Lillie I think it would have been even better if it had been Snowy instead.
Since it wouldn't make sense for Gladion since he was down the hall from her and wouldn't have gotten to her in time. Where as Snowy having been by her side a lot, would have gone to check up on her but ah well. Still love the episode all the same since I was a lot more emotionally invested then most episodes since I love S&M but also just love the Aether family a lot plus nice to see Lusamine with her full character on display looking happy. Since we don't really get that in the games to much.
The theme is called something like "Mother and Daughter" and it does come from the SM games, so I think the dub will keep it, maybe alter it slightly since this theme from the episode was a slight alteration from the game OST, but I would be shocked if they replaced it with something totally different

True it was slightly altered but still recognizable at least, but I sadly don't have high hopes since the english version tends to remove all pokemon game ost. Even the battle music which is still one of my biggest gripes even if sometimes it can be better like pokemon 2000 but yeah.
But I hope they don't as the people who watch the dub deserve the good music especially this episode. :3

I doubt it. There are so many forms yet to be shown, even just going off Gigantamax, there are things like Gigantamax Butterfree or Kingler that we have never seen in the anime, so Melmetal feels about as likely as they would

Also, another imp thing to note is that they had only 1 episode to do this, so I think considering that the episode did most things right, my only gripe with this is first Lusamine leaves her kids alone and then Gladion too leaves Lillie by herselves while a potentially hostile ultra beast is on loose did they not know better.....guess they had to add more shipping fuel so, whatever......anyways I think the bonding between the trio in the first 5 min makes up for lack of their use in this episode

We all know most of the time Journeys is a flop series. They don't have the great animation like XYZ or best charcters to develemont like Sun & Moon or like best storytelling like Diamond & Pearl. This episode is eh... about 4/10. I love sun and moon more than xy or diamond and pearl so this episode didnt do any justice. All your point are good. You should have at least rated this episode 5/10 not 7/10! I dont like goh and Chloe in this episode and how they finish Lillie's arc in this episode is lame. Mohn isnt a very interesting character.
