This movie proved that Tobin Bell is a STAR, even at 81 years old. I agree that X is one of the best in the entire franchise. I genuinely didn't expect it to be as good, and effective, as it was.

The series definitely shot itself in the foot when they killed John Kramer in the third one. He's a standout horror villain for me because he has an actual philosophy, an edict that he lives by as he does these terrible things. All the other antagonists who came after in the series had relatively generic reasons for putting people into traps. Kramer is one of the few horror antagonists whose agenda has some actual philosophical intrigue behind it, one that can be considered flawed from a number of angles, but it's still interesting to see in a genre that's know for its one-note killers that just kill for the sake of it. This movie is definitely starting off on the right foot by recognizing their golden goose and putting him at the center of the story.

To be fair, im sure they didn’t know they were going to make 10 movies lmfao. I think the original plan was just a trilogy which is why they killed him off, but they could of left it more open at the end just in case they wanted to make more, instead we got convoluted plot lines and Hoffman to make up for it smh

This movie finally felt like a Saw movie for the first time in 13 years. I’m happy they were able to get Hoffman back into the story, albeit for a small, but crucial role. Although Saw is my favorite horror franchise, I feel that by the end of the original 7 films, there weren’t many loose ends and as viewers we already know the fate of almost all characters in the franchise. This leads me to believe if writers will continue to make new installments, we will receive unnecessary information about a story that already ran its course long ago.

The way they humanized John more In this movie and the focus on his relationship with Amanda did the job for me. Big props for mentioning the simple thing near the end. The fact that it looks and feels like a Saw movie is a big reason why I’m excited to see it. Saw 8 aka Jigsaw didn’t look like a Saw film AT ALL. Too bright, too soft, too clean. The normal colors were gone as was the grit. Spiral looked a little more like a Saw movie (being directed by Darren Lynn Bousman of course, director of Saw 2,3 and 4), but that was like a Saw movie trying to look like Seven, if you know what I mean. This looking legitimately like a Saw movie was the second thing that got me excited, after Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith both returning and having bigger roles of course.

One flaw with this saw movie is if a person fails the test simply because they lacked an extra literary 1 second or 2, through Kramer’s eye they didn’t have enough will to survive. But that’s clearly false because they went through the pain, they had the will but just needed an extra 5 seconds or so

So if you want to imagine, there may have been a third trap, or another layer, hidden somewhere that was not even revealed because it didn't need to be revealed. A stretch but given what is known about that sequence it's entirely possible.

Such a great entry into the series. Finally took the series back to what made it great instead of just trying to follow the same formula of increasingly elaborate traps with as much gore as possible. They had suspense, and character development so we actually had a real sense of why these people were put in traps to begin with instead of just throwaway characters to get the death numbers up like the franchise had been doing for many years. The series had really fallen into the self-parody trap of trying to constantly outdo itself that losing the essence of what made it great to begin with. Tobin Bell was always the only Jigsaw, and the series never was able to reach the same heights with the other killers. The simple is better approach to the storytelling is so refreshing for this franchise. I was a little irked with how little time he gave the victims to escape their traps so it felt like they had no chance to escape, but the writing really put us on Jigsaw's side here by making it so personal with what they did to him. I also felt the twists at the end relied too much on foresight of relying on characters to behave a very specific way which wasn't believable. This irked me as well, but I guess it wasn't as ridiculous as many of the other movies in the franchise had done.

If we had Tobin Bell, Tony Todd and Doug Bradley sitting together in the same room I'm pretty sure the world would explode from the "oh shit" meter breaking.

John Kramer is kinda dumb in this one. You’d think a man like him would do more research before getting scammed 💀

It's nice knowing other people get muscle cramps while watching movies. lol
I deal with severe muscle spasms daily and going to the theater ends up meaning I spend 10-20min every time stretching out leg cramps...but I go anyway.

If we're lucky, we'll get Saw XXX by 2069.

One thing about Kramer's whole plan seems dicey. To think that they won't wait until Kramer's test ends as he dies in front of them, and instead go grab the briefcase with money in the midst of his trap is a bold and risky assumption. But the fact that Kramer predicted them putting him in her trap was a good gamble

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS MOVIE! Saw 10 and Saw 1 are my personal favourite films of the entire franchise. Amanda and John are what make the movies great ❤️👏🏻

It just felt like a SAW movie for the sake of it…
      The ending was poor.
And it didn’t really tie in to any of the other SAW films.
Good movie but felt let down how it didn’t tie in. 😢

As a huge Saw fan I was severely disappointed. I actually found myself bored to tears in the theater. I thought Saw 3D was the worst but this one TAKES THE CAKE.

The certified fresh score on RT literally and genuinely shocked me since not since the first saw film in the franchise has it gotten this high of critical acclaim. I’m so ready for the revival of torture porn! Let the torture commence 💀 ☠️

Jigsaw has mastered the art of cloning and AI assisted implanting of his mind into the clones. It will take at least 20 more movies to explore this arc.

This movie is a triumph , best since the original. The worst parts were when they focused a little too much on the gore…but hey, it’s kinda baked in the Jigsaw Cake.
