    So very helpful. I ran out of fabric for a long sleeve, so I thought adding a flounce would work. It does! Thank you.

    Yay! This is great! I have a shirt like this one that I have thought about copying because I really like it. I also love the sleeves on the T-shirt you are wearing. I wanted to take the time to thank you for creating your blog and your TH-cam channel. Teaching is definitely your gift and I feel more comfortable and confident about learning to sew with the information you are sharing. Thank you! 😊

    If you wanted the whole sleeve to be the circle sleeve due to have very large upper arms, would it be basically the same?

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, you'd want to do something more like the first sleeve hack in this post: mellysews.com/2017/05/sleeve-hacks.html

    Would the dividing number of 1.83 be different on a woven? Could you explain any differences on a woven flounce. I like your method. Moxt people just add a rectangle which isn’t nearly as pretty! Thank you.

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You divide by 6.28, which is 2x pi. Pi is constant no matter whether you are using woven or knit. However, with a woven you'd want to add a seam allowance after drawing out your quarter circle.

      thank you for such a prompt reply! Oops I meant 6.28. Thanks for reading my mind. Good to know that 6.28 is a constant. Big help. I have seen such complicated explanations for this and you really simplify this. I can’t wait to try it! Lynne

    If some parts overlap, do you use the same sewing method?

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't understand your question about overlapping.

    Hey. I’m new to sewing and I’m self taught.
    Do you have free patterns?

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of my free patterns are only women's size small.

    Hello! You said you hand sewed the hem for the circle, what hand stitch did you use for that hem?

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A hem stitch, as shown in this post: mellysews.com/2013/03/hand-sewing-stitches-for-garment-sewing.html

    Just curious, you didn't say how you determine how much fabric you cut?

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because I can't. It depends on the measurements you choose to use. Then you can figure out your own yardage like this: mellysews.com/how-much-fabric-to-buy/

    How would you do that with pleated fabric

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't understand your question. If it's pre-pleated fabric you don't need to change anything from this tutorial. If you're asking how to pleat fabric to do this, that's something entirely different and not something I have a tutorial for.

    Why do you divide it by 6.28 instead of 4?

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Because (2r)pi is how you get the circumference of a circle. So 2 times pi = 6.28 and dividing by 6.28 gets us r, the radius we need for this circle.

    Where did you get the math from, to know what to multiply it by?
