I just bought this same rifle.. same color.. same same.. I’m appreciating your instruction.. I have to add.. my fiancé would castrate me for spraying my hopps no9 in the house 😅.. she smells it on my hands after I’ve showered.. she’s got a nose like a fuckn plot hound 😅
Good informative video, but I would re do it using the phone sideways instead of vertical. Web will able to see the whole rifle and whatever steps you are doing. Thanks
Rule #1. ALWAYS clean bores from action to muzzle. When the swab comes out of the muzzle don't drag it back to the bolt end. Start again with a new swab from the bolt end and push the swab in the same direction that a bullet would travel.
My savage does not have a lever near the bolt. It has a button near the trigger guard that needs to be pressed while you hold the trigger down. Hope this comment helps someone with the same setup as me.
I'M not sure of what you are asking but if you're rifle is consistent, where the firing pin is striking the primer of the cartridges and firing the bullets at your targets than your rifle is operating like it should. This is a bolt action rifle where the bolt doesn't automatically cycle to have the firing pin strike the primer, you manually cycle the cartridges where the bolt doesn't strike the cartridges but when you pull the trigger the firing pin inside the bolt strikes the primer to fire the cartridge. If the firing pin is striking the primer and your rifle is firing, than it's working like it should, so there nothing wrong with your rifle. If the pin is not striking the primer than you're bolt is faulty and call Savage Arms customer service and they will send you a new one.
For some odd reason my bolt doesn’t wanna come out after I press both mechanisms(trigger and the lever). I took my gun to the range this past weekend and my gun wouldn’t shoot some rounds. The pin would mark the round but it wouldn’t set it off. Also sometimes that lever (that you pressed down in order to release the bolt) moved right when I pull the trigger when shooting and stops the ping from striking the round. Can you give me some info on this as to why the gun lever moves and doesn’t let me shoot? I just bought the gun and it’s new. I lubed it up at the range and I couldn’t really shoot a full clip without problems. Even the trigger would get hard.
If you just bought the rifle brand new I wouldn't work on it, it could void your factory warranty. I would take it to the retailer you bought it off or call Savage Arms customer service.
It's hard to know what the problem is without looking at the rifle but the feeding problem could be what I spoke about in the video. You said you cleaned the rifle previously, so I guess you were able to remove the bolt before. So if the firing pin isn't striking the primer enough it could be the spring inside your bolt or wondering if you put to much lubrication on your bolt. Also if you are at an outdoor range with temperatures at minus zero, with to much lubrication it can change the consistency of the lubrication I was told, causing problems to the action of the rifle. As for the bolt release, it shouldn't be moving like that, so I'm wondering if it's loose and it's not making proper contact with the mechanism that releases the bolt. Like I said if your rifle is new let Savage fix it for you to keep your warranty intact.
@@LRock- I just took it out the box and began to fire it and then that happened. I put some oil on it but it still didn’t fully fix it. Also another thing is that the pin would hit the bullet but it wouldn’t ignite it.
@ChrisPhillips-p1l I usually use a 2 and one cleaner and oil like CLP. But if you aren't, I would put a dab on top and underneath each side of the lugs on the bolt and then cycle your action five times.
Hey man this helped so much thank you!!!
Thankyou. That's the reason for my page, brother.
Great tip about the wing nut. You taught me something I didn't know about my Savage. Thank you and God bless.
You are welcome. Gun owners helping gun owners
Cleaning on the kitchen table. Im sure the wife loved that 😂! Great vid!
@MCK9000 Thank you, and yes, she did, but I cleaned up well after myself.
One thing I would recommend is when using the swabs, instead of going in from the front of the barrel is to go in from the rear.
Yes
Yes I agree.
Yes, you can definitely do damage to the crown of your barrel.. always push your cleaning rod from the rear towards the muzzle !
Rear
Well I learned something new today regarding the bolt on my savage bolt action rifle. Appreciate you brother !

SO glad i found your YT. Thanks for this video and thanks in advance for all the others I'm about to watch!

Great video. Thanks for posting!
I didn't know about the ejector "wingnuts" and their correct positions, never looked at them hard enough. Thanks for the video.
Yes I didn't either until digging deep for information when I was having feed problems myself.
Thank you for the tips about the bolt, I was having feeding issues and couldn't understand what was wrong
Your welcome I had the same problem and had to figure it out as well.
Much appreciated

Can you break down the bolt
The bot alignment issue isn't correct for the axis II XP, the long side has to go to the right.
What type of ammo are you using ? I bought some white tails I think they are 180
Grain. Haven’t shot this rifle before thank you god bless
I use Federal in 30-06.
I use Federal soft tips 30-06 150 grain. Might change to 165 grain.

I have a question I just got one an it’s a 308 an when I go to fire it’s like the bolts to hitting hard enough is there anything I can go to fix that?

You need to have the safety off, when you do this.
For the issues that you are having, if you just purchased the rifle than you are covered under warranty, so contact Savage to repair your rifle.
