Featuring John Reed as Ko-Ko. - บันเทิง
The way Ko-ko is slightly pigeon-toed is too precious
John Reed is my favorite version of Ko-Ko. Hands down. I love this opera, and John Reed’s performance solidified my choice a long time ago.
Absolutely. John Reed - in any G & S - brilliant.
I AGREE!!! because the way how he sings reminds me of Zazu!
Gilbert and Sullivan grossly underrated composers. Music and lyrics great. Mp
Calling them "underrated" is inaccurate and ridiculous.
They are almost certainly among the most famous composers in history, "underrated" they are not. I do not think you fully know what that ord means.
@@tr7938 He clearly meant underappreciated. Don't hate :)
Gilbert was the playwright - sullivan was the composer.
@@lorrainesekera4100oh, come on. It is a ridiculous thing to say.
? I've seen this Mikado in its entirety and I believe it's one of the most beautifully done Productions I've ever seen and I've seen a lot in my 84 years and I believe it comes from maybe Canada I can't remember right now just wonderful though you can find it on the web costumes magnificent. I really enjoyable watch
What a superb voice ,just fabulous ,their are not many people with a singing voice like that !!!!!
Oh! This is the exact tempo and pronunciation. Thanks.
Class of 1996 st Andrews school. This was a good play.
My boy about to chop the heads off innocent men by accident and the child comes to save the day.
"Let me hold your greataxe for you."
I came across this in a book today. I started singing it. It brought back memories for me from my childhood that had been forgotten. What a pleasure to hear this. Thank you
Was that Book “Consciousness Explained” by Daniel Dennett? Because that’s what brought me here just now.
[NOBLES]
Behold the Lord High Executioner
A personage of noble rank and title -
A dignified and potent officer
Whose functions are particularly vital!
Defer, defer
To the Lord High Executioner!
Defer, defer
To the noble Lord, to the noble Lord
To the Lord High Executioner!
[KO-KO]
Taken from the county jail
By a set of curious chances;
Liberated then on bail
On my own recognizances;
Wafted by a favouring gale
As one sometimes is in trances
To a height that few can scale
Save by long and weary dances;
Surely, never had a male
Under such like circumstances
So adventurous a tale
Which may rank with most romances

For me the best version on TH-cam, I've got it on DVD. Love it...
Thank you so much for sharing this Jewel!!!
The only thing I didn't really like about this scene was that all the nobles looked pretty much the same. If I were to stage this, 2 would be shinto senior priests, 2 would be armored samurai, 2 would be dutch diplomats-in-residence, and the remaining 3 would be the conventional nobles we see here.
Agreed. In the 1987 version, even though all the nobles wore black, they did all have very different appearances.
youre doing a great job as usual.
Thanks Colin.
And now... I am free to sing all the Gilbert and Sullivan I damn well please!
This should be released on Blu Ray. This is much better than the Hollywood 1939 version, the only version I can find in HD.
Can I please buy a dvd version of this superior version from you? This audio is amazing.
Perfection
John Reed is the true successor of George Grossmith. Only he and Grossmith did koko's role brilliantly and as visioned by G&S themselves
You saw them both?
What about Martyn Green? He's often lauded as the greatest of the comic baritones.

Anyone else here cuz of sideshow bob?
Yessss I love that man
Would you say that the Zodiac Killer had good taste in musicals?
I remember this from the serial killer avatar 😮
and to think that this was their last collaboration.
V. C. T.: Your name should be added to Ko-Ko’s little list or have the Mikado determine your fate. THIS WAS NOT YHEIR LAST COLLABORATION. What idiot told you that fact. Google and find the answer. You do know how to Google, don’t you?
The racism and cultural appropriation in this is disgusting. This video should be banned. Sarcasm btw. 😁
