Hey there! On behalf of the Dev team and creators of the modpack, we’d like to leave some updates regarding our awareness of the criticisms and changes we have planned and in development. Also as an aside, we very much appreciate you taking a look at our modpack, your experience is invaluable! Regarding RNG structure and mob spawns: We feel the same way. We don’t like excess randomness in progression, and have been working on an update that will help balance all spawns in general, and provide ways to summon or otherwise seek out progression related mobs and items. We do have plans for more music! We have a few musicians/producers that we are working with and hope to get some more unique tracks into the game to give more variety. We 100% agree with a structure compass/structure eye seeking system. We (the devs) have been in talks about this for a while on how to handle it as best we can! All in all, a very fair review. The issues pointed out have been felt by us all, it’s just too bad your experience did not lend to see the greater upsides. we will continue working on bringing Chocolate Edition closer to the polished vision we have, taking ideas and criticisms like this into account! we'll be sure to be in touch when we feel the pack is in a more complete and polished state and maybe you can try it again then!
Ay! Thanks for leaving the response! Sorry if my criticisms ever seemed too harsh, I genuinely see a lot of potential here! I like what the pack and the team is trying to do, and id be more than happy to revisit the pack once the rework drops! Thanks for watching and I cant wait to see the work your team does in the future! Keep at it!
I feel bad saying this, but I have another critisim, and this one is a big one for me: I never really felt like I had to build, and when I did, it was annoying. Minecraft is a sandbox game, so I should be building all the time, but with all the structures, I could just set up a base in one, and never have to worry about making my own. Plus with all of the other content feels like it expressly avoids some of the sandboxiness, as some stuff just takes too much time to get on top of the eyes.
here's a recommendation for structures. if you've ever played twilight forest you'll notice that you never run into this problem this is because the way the world generates guarantees that you cannot go too far without seeing a dungeon. plus this does align with terraria. you know where the dungeon is, you've got a very good idea of where the jungle temple is. if you understand the world gen, know with a good degree of certainty where any biome is (at least a very narrow range of its possible spawn locations) and here's the fun part. you typically have to be told this about the twilight, it's very unobtrusive
@@babafisi8135 same i always felt it would be better to settle in some of the pre built structures insted of building my own cuz they were always cooler than what i could build normally . Kind of removes the charm of minecraft
Hey, may Eureka! or something like it be added? The pack is far too reliant on nomad playstyle, and while you can have base(s), you will have to explore great distances for everything, Waystones do help alleviate that, but i feel like moving bases like the ones in Eureka! would help more
Hey, I’m the creator x) So my devs made a statement from the Choc youtube account but i also wanna say stuff myself So basically the entire video I agree with. The biggest problem is, frankly, EVERYTHING TAKES FOREVER! Choc is so ambitious because virtually every complaint you mentioned is being worked on in a full overhaul, its just so much to work under mod limitations and manage a team and college and bang my head against a wall because Im constantly going into uncharted territory when it comes to what you can do with a modpack x). The vanilla spawning system is so awful im REWRITING IT FROM SCRATCH with full mod compat. The NPC quest system is so complicated and I plan on making integral to finding structures. The eye overhaul is so incredibly hard because I want each eye to be its own mechanic, theme, and guide but many aspects of the game just dont fit that mold perfectly. The music is actually bugged rn to play so unevenly because the developer of the music mod i use is currently working on an overhaul of it and refuses to fix stuff currently. The thing is i always have a solution for the problems people bring up especially rng but these problems are from vanilla or base mods and Im trying to make long term solutions rather than just add lame bandaids like explorers compass lol. I often have to configure mods doing stupid stuff like the diamond termites being off by default will be with the spawning update. I actually kinda encourage players to cheat rn when theres a bug or something because i consider the pack rn completely unfinished, like its just up so I can get motivation to keep working on it rn since people are invested even in its current state. I even built a post-End Time dimension called the Nexus that will be a boss rush through time and a whole endgame. Basically every aspect of the game is under development, its been a year since I started and im not gonna stop till its finished! (Also, i just wanna say that I think you judge the mods you see in the modlist too quickly x) for example blue skies. I completely overhauled it, removed the nerf, added exclusive dinosaurs and structures and am not done with it! Just because I have a mod doesnt mean im using it the way you think it will be x))
Ay glad to have ya here! I see a lot of potential in the pack and Id be more happy to revisit it when the rework drops! Hope college goes swimmingly, I remember how hard that was when I went through it. Definitely seems incredibly ambitious but I believe yall can do it! Especially seeing how much effort the team put in collectively! Thank ya for taking the time to watch my rambling, and I hope I wasnt too harsh. Hope to see ya again soon!
It’s crazy impressive what yall have accomplished with chocolate edition! One solution that might be a bandaid is mowzies cataclysm mod. It adds eyes to track down mowzies mobs just like cataclysm has. You can make a datapack to add these eyes to common loot chests. Then, they will lead you to the bosses. You could do something like that for each boss/important structure?
i dont think its a good idea to fix everything all at ones. I think you should use use alternatives like explorer compass for now and then change it when you have a proper time and view of what you want it to be. Being too much stressed with perfection is just gonna bring you down so take it slow and steady :)
With the music aspect, what I can think of to improve that feature is NOT make it biome-based; INSTEAD, there are 3 major track areas in the overworld - the Surface, which would play stuff like C418 Alpha tracks and is most of the normal landscape, the Peaks, anywhere in a certain area above a certain Y value using the C&C soundtrack to make it feel more grand. Then, for the caves, I’d personally probably go for entirely new, custom tracks; echoey, dissonant, make it feel like the weird and somewhat soothing music is bouncing across the walls of those massive caverns - like the MCD Fizz track, YK? This might make certain biomes feel a bit weird though, so a few specific biomes should get unique music; jungles, glaciers, the Deep Dark, etc.
I would thought that C&C soundtrack could be used for certain bossfights rather them a grand music. Which tracks did you had in mind, I would like to listen to them.
Cartographers make the pack way better, you do need lots of them so you get the maps for all the structures you need but i can safely say they are way more useful and helpful here
Something I'm not sure the modpack authors accounted for (and I'm surprised you didn't bring this up) is that Terraria, while having procedural generation, generates worlds according to a very specific structure that makes sure everything you absolutely need for progression doesn't take too long to find or reach. For instance, the second primary boss can always be fought by breaking certain objects guaranteed to be found in natural corruption/crimson biomes, which are always generated not too far from the original player spawn. The dungeon is always found on one end of the map, and the jungle on the opposite end, so finding one means you know where the other is. That guarantee of finding things doesn't exist in most of Minecraft's standard worldgen, turning Terraria's fairly consistently paced progression into an inconsistent mess of rng. If a mod/modpack author wants to add Terraria-like progression to Minecraft, they really need to make sure the necessary mobs/biomes/structures spawn in a predictable, consistent manner.
Based on convos ive had with one of the team members, theyre trying to make the minecraft gen work with the packs progression. Take that with a grain o salt tho!
maybe they could have structures spawn in specific biomes, so you can use nature's compass to find them maybe also have heatmap based worldgen (like sevtech ages) so biomes never take too long to get to, but that might be hard to implement
It's funny terraria never really had the problem of not finding a structure due to it's limited world sizes. If they want to copy Terraria they could try to make a system that forces the needed structures near spawn.
fully agree, it felt like it was so close to the terraria vibe, but the rng and larger would area you need to travel drags it out, im excited for their fixes.
I’m really glad you continue with this Minecraft modpack stuff, trying it and giving it an actual review. I played a lot of modded Minecraft and couldn’t find any actual review like yours. Most creators are just like “This is the best modpack ever!” Then the whole video is just them flying around in creative for 5 mins spawning stuff and the worst thing is they probably haven’t even try actually playing the modpack too. Good vids hope your channel grow more!
If I remember correctly, there is a mod very similar to Nature's Compass (it might even be made by the same devs) called Explorer's Compass which does the job of locating structures.
This is definitely all valid criticism and I agree with most of your statements. But I guess one reason I got a lot of joy out of this pack is normally whether it’s vanilla or modded Minecraft I struggle to slow down and just enjoy the experience more. I tend to put off things like making a house I’m satisfied with or just building. I’m used to progressing really fast and I guess the eye quests in chocolate edition just really helped me slow down, letting myself get sidetracked to explore and interact with things I wouldn’t normally interact with.
Thing about Blue Skies is that it's ment to be a standalone experience, and NOT shoved into 300+ mod modpacks. I genuinely have no clue why modpack authors insist on adding it and not bother considering balancing it at all (i know chocolate edition removed their nerf, but this still applies to all packs in general) A LOT of Blue Skies' current issues have been addressed with their upcoming "Convergence" update, which has no release date, but it seems really promising. Me personally I don't like Chocolate edition, tried it and couldnt stand mods like Better Combat & Parcool, made it hardly playable for me. That and I generally don't like the pack devs, I don't wanna go into details but there may be a bit of bias with that front.
Thats fair, but I think the mod itself has issues because it invalidates the players progression upon entry. Thats my core gripe. That and the ores it provides are vanilla equivalent, which make them feel unnecessary.
@@therealbottomdweller That's completely fair! I recall the devs mentioning that Charoite & Diopside would get some interesting perks in Convergence. Completely unsure if you've read the blue journal but theres some Blue Skies things that do differentiate the tools from vanilla: Falsite for example, found in beaches in the Everbright, can be used in adding extra durability to your tools (blue skies only) which acts as a more interesting version of mending. This can be used on Tools & Armor. In addition, the different stick types in the dimensions do matter, since depending on what wood type you use, your tool will have different durability, mining speed and all that jazz. This opens up a bit of customization as to how viable you want your utem to be, and it puts Diopside as a very worthy Netherite competitor. I haven't played the mod but iirc Comet/Cherry sticks are the best overall for most tools and starlit /[some everdawn wood i forgor] are the best for diopside since its so heavy.
the aether invalidated the players progress on entry, but that mod was still beloved more than i could possibly state. i dont think thats much of an actual issue ON ITS OWN. it becomes an issue once its shoved in with other mods as part of a "greater experience", i agree
@@-Ano-Ano- The issue with the aether is that its a beta 1.7.3 mod that is still praised to hell and back and its quality shows. If it were released today, the aether would be ridiculed for its awful balancing, texture work and boss fights, the only reason its so beloved is because it unintentionally managed to trick tons of kids who didnt know better that it was a mod. Nothing from the aether would work in modern day minecraft, the entire dimension would have to be reworked to the point where it isn't even the aether anymore.
I've been searching for a channel like yours for soooo much time man, as a Terraria fan, I always thought miencraft modpacks are too loose and random, but you showed me raspberry flavoured and it's now my favorite Minecraft modpack, thx for videos man
I've personally always felt like an "adventure" based progression is fairly flawed in a game that weeps on the backend whenever you explore, god forbid on a server, but its really interesting to see that this pack has made an extremely solid effort to make it work. Personally not my cup of tea, but a damn admirable project.
Imo when the description says stuff like "Minecraft without the tedium" or "Minecraft but you don't give up after getting iron" it's not really implying that the mod is "all around better than Minecraft", it's just implying that it's "better than Minecraft on these specific aspects". For example, if a mod like L_Ender's Cataclysm said in its description that it has better bosses than vanilla MC, it doesn't mean that it has better building too
I can see your POV, im just under the stance that saying youre better in any capacity for any reason is saying youre better than Minecraft. Kinda like how cars get a mild improvement in one aspect so they claim to be the better car? I totally agree with you though. It is implying being better at certain aspects.
A great moddpack you can try out is Vault Hunters 3th edition. Playing the pack now myself en it is really enjoyable. Also it has not that many mods as most moddpacks so you can run on weaker hardware (I only have a school laptop, so I can't run alot of mods)
Please review prominence. It's easily the best modpack I've ever played. The mods integrate into each other perfectly, and it only gets grindy if you choose to maximize efficiency, like quintupling netherite scrap or general automation (which is optional). The tech mods are moreso supplemental to your experience. It feels like there's always a brand new side of the modpack to discover, without creating any progression walls. Imo, it'd be perfect if they removed ad astra, as It really doesn't add anything and feels disconnected from everything else, especially the modpack's theme. Really hope they add malum and Eidolon in the future.
Heya! I'm the dev of "Better Beta". It would really be incredible to see your thoughts on the modpack as it's quite unique and unlike any of the other beta themed modpacks or forks
Ay! I'd be more than happy to check it out! The only deal is this times on a vote, but when I make my own choice next time I may very well consider it!
Better than adventure! It's a mod I've been interested in checking out but I haven't heard much about how it plays itself or what all it exactly changes. Would love to see you cover it!
Hey I was, at least one of, the people who recommended this pack on the raspberry video. I can definitely agree on the RNG part, it does get very annoying, I'm really surprised that the pack doesn't have Explorer's Compass which is the structure equivalent of Nature's Compass, it directs you to the closest of that structure. Sad that craft to exile 2 didn't make the votes, so I'll vote for reminiscence
these videos r so cool you should make a list of like your 5-10 favorite modpacks at the end of the year (assuming you've played enough to do that kind of thing)
Chocolate was my first ever modded mc experience, Its what started my current obsession with modded mc, so it does have a special place in my heart, so theres bias here. I think your critiques are fair, but I particularly disagree with the first point, What I liked about the pack was that it required you to explore, and I found that i was able to get through the easy eyes without much annoyance, while I was out exploring for the things I needed, I kept coming upon new structures, biomes, etc, that kept it interesting the whole time. I really enjoyed that progression, but if i was coming at it with your frame of mind, attempting to make a video in a reasonable time frame, I would be incredibly frustrated, it took me well over 200 hours to get all the way through the 16 eyes, and that was with a friend. That being said, theres so many other aspects to the pack that make it a good experience, I felt like I was progressing consistently the entire time, but I needed to dump a lot of time into it in order to really experience what it had to offer, so it would make perfect sense that youd feel frustrated when (i assume) you didn't sink that many hours into the pack.
Being under a week upload schedule does a number to my POV! I can certainly see what you mean, and exploration is fun! I just like the exploration to feel more consistent and less like I havent done anything because of bad world gen. Thanks for your kindness and for your good opposing POV! Hope to see ya againn
@@therealbottomdweller Totally fair perspective, Just wanted to defend it a little cause i had such a good experience with it, haha. found your content recently and have really been enjoying it, keep it up!
am i insane or something because i swear minecraft already has biome based music in vanilla. granted, the pool of songs per biome is pretty big and overlap a lot, but im pretty certain it already has a biome based music system. well, biome is one of the factors, i think gamemode and dimension and stuff effect it too
There is in some aspects but most of the overworld has a large library in vanilla. Biomes are split with their own tracks and each biome has at most 2. Its grating.
Sounds to me the pack could really use explorers compass or have less structures . I vote reminisce for the next video. Surprised how quickly this one came out.
I am a pretty avid Better Than Adventure player, but I’d love to see a review of Reminiscence, as I already know most of what there is to know about BTA.
Better than adventure!!! It's a fresh take on what Minecraft could've been. While i haven't played it a lot, I adored the time I spent in it, but it does miss some QoL features. Hope that gets mended in future updates.
I actually think this modpack sounds really fun! and the fact you stated that it is *super* optimized has me ready for the grind of finding the eyes lol, great vid!
Cool Video! A bit picky of me, but at some points in the video, it seemed as if you were trying to over correct you a bit to much, and instead of looking like a review of the pack, it seem like you were directly talking to the devs, which I feel made it seem a bit to personal at times (to my taste atleast lol) and I think that your disclaimer about you your overall opinion of the pack at the start, was enough. Anywas would love to see Better Than Adventure next!!
Ay picky or not, your opinions valid! I agree and will try to be more concise. I just hate being negative to peoples hardwork so I felt bad lol. Thanks for watching and im glad you enjoyed! I hope to see ya again soon
If it really wants to be Minecraft but terraria then it will need to solidify the biomes and structures that spawn in the world, and maybe even make Minecraft a truly finite world. Terraria works best more or less because it’s entirely set when it comes to what is and isn’t included in a biome. It’s not a chance of if but when you find something with that game, and for Minecraft it has always been if. Random generation is such a core value of Minecraft that you can’t really get rid of it in any meaningful way. Unless you want to completely get rid of everything that is Minecraft you have to have that randomness, but terraria is not about that kind of randomness. Also the worst part about terraria is it’s RGN, and making a game progression built entirely off of RNG really isn’t a good thing.
@@therealbottomdweller There’s some big inconveniences and problems for me. Weapons locked behind RNG, time-based trades, all of the reforge system, etc. Still very good though don’t get me wrong.
Hey Bottom Dweller, I have a mod that seems right up your alley for a mod review. I have recently released a mod called “Fixed” which attempts to balance many aspects of the survival game and bring new life to forgotten areas, but by trying to do this in a way with the smallest amount of changes possible. It has for the most part been just me working on this mod and this is my first mod so it might not be the most polished thing out there but I would be looking forward to see what you have to say about it. Thanks
never understood why people try to put terraria into minecraft when they are like apples and oranges, they play COMPLETELY differently and have completely different strategies. if people want to expand upon minecraft they should check minecraft's influences and minecraft itself, we have infiniminer, dwarf fortress, and a lot of early dungeon crawlers from the 90s to early 2000s to look at and put a survival spin into it, and yet people use a game that is different from minecraft in every way because they share 2 genres, pretty peculiar imo.
better than adventure also wonderful video and i really hope the devs fix the progression system. and about the compass thing they could use explorer's compass which is literally just nature's compass but for structures instead of biomes
I think what they meant by the terraria devs bit has to do less with the games they are based on and more what the devs do for the community. terraria and minecraft don't mix but every terraria player can tell you ReLogic really try to make their game for the community. The unfortunate downside being its not really made for everyone, like MineCraft. Yeah i wish Mojang was more like ReLogic in their ways of thinking, but it is what it is.
Great video :3 but I've really enjoyed Blue Skies when i played the mod as a solo experience around the time it came out. Did they do something with the mod to just make it worse or something? Genuinely curious on your opinion on it sense you brought it up twice but never really elaborated.💞
My issue is how the mod is fundamentally designed where it invalidates overworld progress just so you can get the dimensions new ores which are just as strong as overworlds. It'd be different if the new ores provided value, but they don't. Im not a fan of invalidating progress in any game, same reason I didn't like Cube World. Its aight if you like it! I just reaaaaaally don't. My opinion is a call back to my Better Minecraft video, so its a running gag of sorts. Thanks for watching btw! Hope to see ya again!
@@therealbottomdweller That makes a lot of sense and i feel my standpoint is a little biased on that, big dimension mods like blue skies i would always just start myself in the dimension (i think there was even a config for that) I can 100% see how starting over in progression is annoying but for me in a way i like that fact as its like when some people will go out 100k blocks from spawn and throw away all their god tools and stuff to restart on a hardcore world. But i don't think that's for everyone obviously.
I know you said vote, but have you been told to check out landscapes reimagined genesis yet? Its got a lot of mods you've seen before but i feel like theyre all integrated really well, its what i personally would think of when i think of a better minecraft made through mods
Thanks for that bit about terraria, i hate it when peoples main critique of minecraft is that its not like terraria, a game which is fundamentally different from minecraft in so many ways
as someone who as played Terraria the definetly hit the nail on the head with this one. tho as for removing tedium AND being a terraia-like pack good luck. Actual terraria itself is a hell of a grind so i really dont know what they were going with trying that because its not happening. tho my one complaint is dont yell at the devs for the diamond termites because thats from a mod called Born In Chaos and the have like no control over that spawning unless they add a world gen blacklist mod to prevent them from spawning
Oh Im not yelling at the pack devs for the termites being made, its for them being added. I know they didn't make that, but if I were them I woulda disabled this lil bastard. Thanks for watching btw! Hope to catch ya again soon!
Even if minecraft shouldnt be a terraria clone, it does fall short at me having fun with it due to both a lack of options on the same level and an extremely short progression system that accelerates in the blink of an eye before platoing hard (iron) for a long time. With things like the new combat with weapon speeds, multiple different ores and stones mostly unused or actively bad in relation to progression, enchants, potions. There are just so many systems that COULD be expanded on for having player choice but then it'll only make like 2 options or actively punish you for NOT using them by having a strictly best option (protection, sharpness, any tools other then iron, diamond, or netherite). I like netherite as a late game option i feel it fits well and fixes the progression being solved too soon but early and mid game still struggle in their own ways really. Not to even mention all the other systems that are cool foundations but just have a shed on top. Also just, everything about anvils, they are so bad that mending got made which has its own problems. Its very easy to just have resources to just become so abuntant they are useless after a week or so and at that point its just kinda creative mode with more grinding. Basicly things like minecraft survival game mechanics in stuff like hunger and monsters at night as well as its rpg mechanics are so easily problem solved they become more of a nuisance then actually engaging. Just get 2 stacks of bread and a whole in the ground and a bed and suddenly its just completely invalidated, in a game that was so much about surviving the night it doesnt matter past the first 5 minutes. Now they shouldnt be expanded to levels to where they become the whole gameplay, rpg or survival, i just wish they werent so "solved" and never just outright disappear into the background so much is might as well be aesthetics. I feel like a minecraft that had more of a reward for engaging with some of the main pillars people seem to engage with or want out of the game in automation, rpg combat stuff, and survival, even if it didnt force it it would be much more engaging for longer terms for it. Just giving you more goals you could set for yourself outside of just building because even without many goals for them people do those things. Its just boring doing the same things repeatedly. I do agree on the issues with progression in this modpack though, hell even in vanilla minecraft ender eyes and strongholds are even with how comparatively simple to more crazy mod stuff it is can be a pain and is why most of my worlds have never gotten to then end even. Hunting for an uncommon mob spawn just on pure luck just isnt fun, maybe if there was some proper way to track them down or something? bother structures and mobs. I just want more sidegrades and customization based on playstyle as well as a constant background gameplay loop of survival or threats that cant be so entirely ignored. Also just like a drop of a longer progression tree, going from your first night to iron to basicly the best in the game in diamon just feel like such large jumps and terribly paced out. Just a early game that lasted like 3 days but also wasnt completely miserable and something in between iron tier and diamond tier would be nice. Maybe a bronze or something before iron but that might be all too much.
Totally fair opinion to have! While Im more a fan of getting new tools, I can see the value in the players resource progression changing. I appreciate your input, and thank ya for watching! I do hope to see ya again!
B.T.A! B.T.A! B.T.A! a mod that I freaking love... I may not play it too much but when I do it is at least a while of fun (until I end up getting steel and get bored cause I Dunno how to set my own goal posts or goals lol) so ye I'm voting for Better than Adventure! While we are talking about Nostalgic MC mods/modpacks might I suggest MCSX aka Minecraft PSX/PS1 aka MCPSX (this thing has too many names lol) it's a horror modpack il admit... and its very vanilla, but the various aspects of it go together very well my only personal problem with it is the sanity mod and the nether (wait no i mean the slip) being horrible to travel in (no spoilers!)
11:59 100% agreed with that, because honestly i get the complaints but to me most of it sounds pretty fun so ur video made me wanna try it more than it made me wanna avoid it xd
About the music thing, I think that you should put a disclaimer that this is solely your own issue, two tracks per biome is just enough, music is there to help you navigate where you exactly are and how to build around to exploit biome specific mechanics, also you are in minority with that problem, most people either don't care and music is just a background noise, me for example I can listen to a singular track for HOURS especialy when I'm playing a game, putting more than 2 tracks per biome especialy that Minecraft simply does not have nearly enough tracks for that would just cause confusion, very few people are gonna remember all 3-4 tracks per biome, it's good as it is now, about whole rest? Valid, them being Terraria mod developers probably made them forget that structure generation in Minecraft doesn't work like in Terraria, in every Terraria biome there is always a set of structures always in the same places, in Minecraft not only biomes can be hilariously small but simply don't always generate structures, same with loot table, too much RNG, also you can spend hundreds of hours without encountering a jungle or other biome you would need, I think they should just make a mod that completely reworks Minecraft world generation at this point because I have no idea how they can possibly make it any better
Fair! Disclaimer shoulda been warranted! Just keep in mind if it’s happening to me its likely happening to others too. Glad you could enjoy it personally, It just brought discomfort beyond belief for me. Glad you found the other points valid and that it wasnt just me and I hope to see you again soon!
I vote for reminiscnece and better beta, since those 2 are on modern version and ive already heard of better than adnvture so many times, and dislike modpack that cling to old minecraft because it was "better" A suggestiong for a new pack is create above and beyond, but it is a tech modpack if you arent interested in those
my worries about this modpack were founded it seems! also i vote for better than adventure because it's the only one i've played, it's pretty good but probably just not for me
I just dropped out of the modpack after 5 maybe 6 or 7 eyes (cant remember) because it's was toooo goddamn long of a job to get progress, i dont mean to say that long journeys are bad but it was just too much to it and the more i progress the more i felt like the things i had to get to craft the next eye was just annoying and irrelevant
Plus with all of the other content feels like it expressly avoids some of the sandboxiness, as some stuff just takes too much time to get on top of the eyes.
here's a recommendation for structures.
if you've ever played twilight forest you'll notice that you never run into this problem
this is because the way the world generates guarantees that you cannot go too far without seeing a dungeon.
plus this does align with terraria. you know where the dungeon is, you've got a very good idea of where the jungle temple is. if you understand the world gen, know with a good degree of certainty where any biome is (at least a very narrow range of its possible spawn locations)
and here's the fun part. you typically have to be told this about the twilight, it's very unobtrusive
@@babafisi8135 same i always felt it would be better to settle in some of the pre built structures insted of building my own cuz they were always cooler than what i could build normally . Kind of removes the charm of minecraft
Hey, may Eureka! or something like it be added? The pack is far too reliant on nomad playstyle, and while you can have base(s), you will have to explore great distances for everything, Waystones do help alleviate that, but i feel like moving bases like the ones in Eureka! would help more
Hey, I’m the creator x)
So my devs made a statement from the Choc youtube account but i also wanna say stuff myself
So basically the entire video I agree with.
Please remove the Mutant bosses they've NEVER been any fun
Havent even watched the video but this puts a good taste in my mouth, maybe ill check it out after/before the overhaul
i dont think its a good idea to fix everything all at ones. I think you should use use alternatives like explorer compass for now and then change it when you have a proper time and view of what you want it to be. Being too much stressed with perfection is just gonna bring you down so take it slow and steady :)
The immediate problem with "Minecraft but with Terraria devs" is that Terraria is a limited 2D world, while Minecraft is an infinite 3D world.
I think it can work, it just needs the right execution and a reasonable understanding of the world gen mechanics.
Console edition was limited just like indev. But yeah, I agree
Not a bad idea! I can see its value for sure! Also thanks for watchin!
I would thought that C&C soundtrack could be used for certain bossfights rather them a grand music. Which tracks did you had in mind, I would like to listen to them.
@Honzik207 Infinite Amethyst, Left To Bloom, and the latter-ish halves of Ancestry & One More Day are the ones that really come to mind for me.
@BlastFromTheGhast wait, what does C&C stand for?
Also would be nice to add layers or new ost for battles of low health
I vote reminiscence. BTA is great but has pretty much been covered by everyone under the sun
Vote noted! Thanks for watchin!
@@therealbottomdweller Great video
Cartographers make the pack way better, you do need lots of them so you get the maps for all the structures you need but i can safely say they are way more useful and helpful here
That makes sense! Didnt really think of a cartographer.
Yo I wasn't expecting you to make a video on the pack thank you ❤
Of course! It was the most requested pack in the last video, I had to!
Take that with a grain o salt tho!
maybe they could have structures spawn in specific biomes, so you can use nature's compass to find them
maybe also have heatmap based worldgen (like sevtech ages) so biomes never take too long to get to, but that might be hard to implement
It's funny terraria never really had the problem of not finding a structure due to it's limited world sizes. If they want to copy Terraria they could try to make a system that forces the needed structures near spawn.
True! Only question is how that would be implemented and how hard thatd be to make.
fully agree, it felt like it was so close to the terraria vibe, but the rng and larger would area you need to travel drags it out, im excited for their fixes.
Honestly the worldgen's the only thing id want out of a mod to make mc more like terraria! Including the very limited world size >:3c
Its actually exactly why I make these! Felt there needed to be someone out there. Glad ya enjoyed and hope to see ya again in the future!
If I remember correctly, there is a mod very similar to Nature's Compass (it might even be made by the same devs) called Explorer's Compass which does the job of locating structures.
@@terenx5 I think its actually in the same exact mod but they disabled it. Heard theyre looking for a work around though!
Totally valid! Everyone has their own paces for the game. I like to be slower as well but it felt TOO slow. Like losing in a race against a rock slow.
Thing about Blue Skies is that it's ment to be a standalone experience, and NOT shoved into 300+ mod modpacks.
I genuinely have no clue why modpack authors insist on adding it and not bother considering balancing it at all (i know chocolate edition removed their nerf, but this still applies to all packs in general)
A LOT of Blue Skies' current issues have been addressed with their upcoming "Convergence" update, which has no release date, but it seems really promising.
Completely unsure if you've read the blue journal but theres some Blue Skies things that do differentiate the tools from vanilla:
Falsite for example, found in beaches in the Everbright, can be used in adding extra durability to your tools (blue skies only) which acts as a more interesting version of mending.
I've been searching for a channel like yours for soooo much time man, as a Terraria fan, I always thought miencraft modpacks are too loose and random, but you showed me raspberry flavoured and it's now my favorite Minecraft modpack, thx for videos man
Anytime! Thank YOU for giving my content a shot! Its the support of yall that keeps the show goin!
I've personally always felt like an "adventure" based progression is fairly flawed in a game that weeps on the backend whenever you explore, god forbid on a server, but its really interesting to see that this pack has made an extremely solid effort to make it work. Personally not my cup of tea, but a damn admirable project.
Exactly! I see so much potential in it! Its just not quite there yet.
Good news! There is a structure version of Nature's Compass mod already!
I love all of these different "editions"
In before Blueberry Edition.
Ill add it to the list! Heard a lot about it!
Big vote for Reminiscence. I haven't seen a review for that one yet! Also stellar vid my guy, I might check this pack out :D
Thanks for your kind words! Your votes been heard and I hope to see ya again! Enjoy the pack!
Its on the list! Itll likely be in a vote in a future video!

Ay! Dont sweat it! Just because it didnt make the votes doesnt mean it wont show up! Its on the list :)
Happy to see someone who shares my unending disdain for the Blueskies mod
Welcome to the cult my friend!
BETTER THAN ADVENTUREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
NOTED!
these videos r so cool you should make a list of like your 5-10 favorite modpacks at the end of the year (assuming you've played enough to do that kind of thing)
Maybe not this year, but I figured id do some sort of tier list of modpacks at some point!
Man, now I want chocolate.
Try the modpack The Forsaken World 1 - TFW1 [Skills And Origins Update] on curseforge
@@therealbottomdweller Totally fair perspective, Just wanted to defend it a little cause i had such a good experience with it, haha. found your content recently and have really been enjoying it, keep it up!
decided to play this with my sis bc of the controller support... 21 hours later and no eye (in all fairness we didnt really venture out that far...)
Yeah, seems like it can be a slog to go through for some. Myself included.
am i insane or something because i swear minecraft already has biome based music in vanilla. granted, the pool of songs per biome is pretty big and overlap a lot, but im pretty certain it already has a biome based music system. well, biome is one of the factors, i think gamemode and dimension and stuff effect it too
There is in some aspects but most of the overworld has a large library in vanilla. Biomes are split with their own tracks and each biome has at most 2. Its grating.
id love to hear your takes on Better Than Adventure!! personally really enjoyed that one!
Noted! Another vote to the Tally!
Is there no adventurers compass in the mod?
Not currently!
@@therealbottomdweller Well that's the issue lol.

Sounds to me the pack could really use explorers compass or have less structures . I vote reminisce for the next video. Surprised how quickly this one came out.
I try to be efficient! It definitely needs a better compass. Your votes been heard and I hope to see ya again!
I am a pretty avid Better Than Adventure player, but I’d love to see a review of Reminiscence, as I already know most of what there is to know about BTA.
Fair! Solid choice nonetheless!

Ay glad you are interested! Thanks for watching!
Also the worst part about terraria is it’s RGN, and making a game progression built entirely off of RNG really isn’t a good thing.
hey man thx for listning to my suggestion ❤🙏
also just discovered better beta from watching your video and look nostalgic and eerie so my vote is on that
Thanks for your suggestion and for watchin! Hope to see ya again soon!
“Minecraft without the tedium” when Terraria is arguably a far more tedious game 😭
I wouldn't even call it tedious if its fun from start to finish. Terraria is fun from start to finish imo.
Thanks
Sounds facinating! Ill add it to the list of mods we can vote on!
Out of that list Id personally say BTA it seems to add the most rather than just making small changes to beta
Fair enough! Thanks for your vote and for watchin!
I vote for 3. Better Beta
A modern take on an older version of Minecraft sounds pretty interesting
Vote noted! Thanks for the vote and for watching btw!
a video on Reminiscence sounds fun
Another vote for Rem!
never understood why people try to put terraria into minecraft when they are like apples and oranges, they play COMPLETELY differently and have completely different strategies.
if people want to expand upon minecraft they should check minecraft's influences and minecraft itself, we have infiniminer, dwarf fortress, and a lot of early dungeon crawlers from the 90s to early 2000s to look at and put a survival spin into it, and yet people use a game that is different from minecraft in every way because they share 2 genres, pretty peculiar imo.
Sometimes people got a craving for more of somethin! Totally agree tho, it is apples to oranges.
better than adventure
also wonderful video and i really hope the devs fix the progression system. and about the compass thing they could use explorer's compass which is literally just nature's compass but for structures instead of biomes
Thanks for your kind words and your vote! Hope to see ya again! :D
I just wish raids actually worked
They dont? Ill be real I didnt attempt that right away.
awesome vids! love ur content!
Ay glad you dig it! Thanks for watchin!
I could see that! They even commented here providing information for the community, so that makes sense.
Great video :3
but I've really enjoyed Blue Skies when i played the mod as a solo experience around the time it came out.
I’ll still add your recommendation to the list of vote options down the road!
Thanks for that bit about terraria, i hate it when peoples main critique of minecraft is that its not like terraria, a game which is fundamentally different from minecraft in so many ways
I agree. Its valid for people to feel that way, but both games are fundamentally designed differently
as someone who as played Terraria the definetly hit the nail on the head with this one. tho as for removing tedium AND being a terraia-like pack good luck.
I'd love to listen to a whole video where you just rant about / review blue skies

@@therealbottomdweller YAYYY
Oh my God, you got like 4K when I was saying you were like at 500 Jesus good job at making good videos.
Im shocked as well, Thank ya! Glad to see ya again and I hope to keep seeing ya!

11:59 100% agreed with that, because honestly i get the complaints but to me most of it sounds pretty fun so ur video made me wanna try it more than it made me wanna avoid it xd
Ay, thats awesome! I hope you enjoy the pack!
better beta or than adventure
Better beta would be cool
You should try BTA (better than adventures), i am currently playing it and i am OBSESSED. Also i love your videos keep up the good work!
Roger that! Also thanks for your kind words and support! Hope to see ya again!
you should definitely play BTA

I vote for reminiscnece and better beta, since those 2 are on modern version and ive already heard of better than adnvture so many times, and dislike modpack that cling to old minecraft because it was "better"
A suggestiong for a new pack is create above and beyond, but it is a tech modpack if you arent interested in those
Ill add that pack to the list! Thanks for the suggestion!
Given you like vintage story, what do you think of TerraFirmaCraft?
A good pack is TerraFirmaGreg
Its on the list of ones were gonna vote on down the road!
my worries about this modpack were founded it seems!

with that last comment near the end, i'm kinda wondering what you consider bad, also for the vote i'm voting better than adventure
I could certainly find an example pack! Also vote noted!
Better than adventure
Thanks for the vote and for watchin!
Shoot I couldnt even get past the first 3 cuz of world gen, you got patience my dood!
Great video! I vote for BTA.
Thanks for the kind words and your vote! Hope to see ya again!
Reminiscence Please, I've been thinking about checking out that pack and I'd love your input.

Hey, if you wanna make a review of a fun pack, arcane isles is a blast!
Ill add it to the list!
@therealbottomdweller it's a modpack that has a bit of a rougher start but a very fun mid and late game!
Better than beta
Noted!
Do better than adventure
I nominate nostalgia squared for next vote
Now it may not be NEXT vote, but I can certainly add it to the list of things to be voted on later! Dope nomination tho!
