    I appreciate that this video gets right to the point. I started using Ableton more seriously abt three years ago, and haven't really touched my Maschine controller since then. I kinda wanna pick it back up again. Thanks for the video!

    signed into my youtube after getting this maschine + retro, being a native ableton and push user i gave up on it twice already after having an mk3 2 years ago and selling before i've gotten to the point im at now. i can actually understand what im doing on the device itself, but learning how to manage the maschine software with the instrument (i love being hands on and playing things) and ableton is a HUGE plus for me. thank you so much for your time, and the fact you were juggling so much in life at the time and still took the time out of your busy day to educate us and teach us how simple things can be i have great appreciation for you as a human being. thank you so much blake!!!!!

    New subscriber here:
    Hi everyone, I have a Maschine Plus and was frustrated for weeks because I could not get Ableton to "see" the Plus as a controller. I eventually found the solution -- the solution is this: I had to hit "settings/system" and then hit the "controller" button to take the Plus out of the "stand-alone" mode and Ableton could "see" the device and details in Blake's video work perfectly. To return back to "stand-alone" mode you reverse the process by hitting "settings/system" and hitting a new button now called "stand-alone."

    Never one to hold back on running before I can walk, I bought a Maschine plus as well with the idea of using it live and condensing my Ableton tracks so as to be able to set them up on Maschine plus for a live set. Does the drag and drop work the other way?

    Blake, I really like your style of teachine with Maschine and Ableton, and producing in general. I am currently trying to figure out how to best set up my live tracks for my church using Maschine and Ableton Lite, and the songs we do are subject to repeating or jumping to another part of the song. Trying to avoid buying the standard edition if possible since I already had to pony up the dough for Logic Pro (needed some of the tools and sounds). Anyway, thanks for the breakdown.

    I haven’t found a simple explanation like this anywhere. Very good job!!! And for that you get a sub. I have both and I like to switch to keep things fresh. Hey, how’s it work in reverse?

      What a nice compliment, thanks for watching and subscribing. I just try to make videos that I wish someone would have made for me to find on TH-cam! I have no interest in going in reverse, generally start with Maschine to flesh out the ideas, and move over to Ableton...

    How can download the maschine software as a plugin in ableton? do i need a maschine hardware?

    • @BlakeHeart

      If you own a serial to Maschine, you can download the software and yes, use it as a plugin in Ableton. But you need to have a registered serial number in Native Access to be able to download it...

    I think the best way is using NI's script for Ableton Live which gives Maschine a ton of functionality. It's on NI's website along with instructions.

    • @BlakeHeart
      @BlakeHeart  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right, you can use Maschine as a midi controller inside Ableton - and there are a bunch of ways to use Maschine with Ableton, this was just something that was working for me - in terms of my personal workflow, and I thought I would share it BUT yes, you definitely need to find out what works best for you...it will be different for everybody.

  • @grrlinduluth

    so can you just use maschine studio as a midi controller for ableton or other software-are the keys programmabled for other software,meaning not using maschine sofeware like this video shows

    • @BlakeHeart
      @BlakeHeart  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use Maschine as a midi controller in Ableton BUT what I am doing is actually using both with Ableton. It is a workflow thing - they are different pieces of hardware, similar, but different just as maschine software is different than Ableton Live. For me, I like using them both, I get the ideas flowing with Maschine - and build them out and finish them off in Ableton. Best of both worlds!

    • @BlakeHeart
      @BlakeHeart  ปีที่แล้ว

      Search for exactly that on TH-cam and you should fine a ton, you will need an audio interface of some kind to bring your signal into your computer.

    Great video and topic! Question: can you drag the full midi patterns from Maschine to a drum rack? I think you said you could but last time I tried, something weird happened.

    • @BlakeHeart
      @BlakeHeart  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Great question, I should have been more clear - as best as I know there is no way to drag all into a drum rack, but you can move a drum rack into the midi clip once the drum midi is there and if you want all your drum midi in the same drum rack, you can just copy and paste it one by one into that one midi track, which is a bit tedious. You would then need to move it to the corresponding note, because all are on C3 by default I believe. I personally like to keep all my drums separate and then place them into a group, this way I can have individual control over each with effects, etc., but then also easily apply effects to all the drums in that group.

  • @futurewillow3269

    This is great but when I drag over a pattern from maschine into Ableton. It doesn't loop properly. It always has a tail end of blank sound. How do I fix this issue?

    • @BlakeHeart

      Did you figure it out -- sorry but I don't know what the issue is...

  • @mustbescud

    So by default, how/where can i find the samples I imported/dragged from Maschine to Ableton?

    • @BlakeHeart
      @BlakeHeart  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you choose collect all and save in Ableton you should be good to go - and will have all samples within the Ableton project folder. I am always on the same computer, don't move around -- and don't collaborate with folks, so not an issue for me generally. But with any DAW, if you are collaborate and moving around - make sure to save with samples, collect all and save, etc., whatever the DAW calls it because they label it differently. Hope this helps!
