This is wrong in every way I'll try to fix it 1.John Charles (Juventus) 2.Kevin Kegan (Hamburg) 3.Steve Mcmanaman (Real Madrid) 4.Gary Lineaker (Barcelona) 5.Gareth Bale (Real Madrid)
Yoosuf Ahmad couldnt agree more, this is why i hate when they do these videos, some of the lists they do is absurd how the fuck is Barton in this? he done fuck all compared to the legendary John Charles who was voted the greatest foreign player to play for Juve, Mcmanaman won the CL with Real and Keegan became a superstar in Germany, not to mention Paul Lambert who won the CL with Dortmund.
John Charles? Welsh player who could play both CB and ST to a world-class level. He played for Juventus for 5 years between 1957 to 1962. Was voted Juventus' best ever foreign player, as well as being voted as the Seria A's best ever foreign import, ahead of players such as van Basten, Maradona and Zidane.
What about Owen Hargreaves? He not just transferred abroad... He actually came through in the Bayern Munich youth teams and stayed at the club for 10 years. Maybe he's not really remembered in England, since he was constantly plagued by injuries when he joined ManU after his Bayern career. But at Bayern he is still a bit of a club legend.
Yeah, you're right about his birthplace... But afaik he has always held a british passport and he played for england after all. So I guess he would qualify for this list.
I have to disagree. Your nation is what it says on your passport. And if you are born to british parents that happen to live in Canada at the time of your birth and you have a britsh passport, you definitely are british. This idea of your country of birth being your nationality is very much depending on the laws in the countries at question.
I have to disagree on that, your nation just doesn't show on someone's passport, if you're parents are from a different country doesn't mean you're exactly that same nation it doesn't work that way, nationality isn't a race where your parents gens are exactly what you are not by the nation they were born in. Either a person has a descent from their parents but that doesn't change what their real birthplace nationality is. It's like saying here in the United States we're all not Americans because pretty much all of our parents came from a different country. He has an English father and welsh mother their parents are British he was born in Canada making him a Canadian of English, welsh descent making him not British at all, you got to understand that him choosing to play for his parents countries doesn't make him British he's still Canadian at the end of the day.
it's sad how they cant do top 5 brits abroad today. probably because the only good brit who is welsh is bale. I cant think of any other brit who is even in the first division of a top league in europe. the only other brit is bradley wright philips who has scored 21 goals this season in the MLS
Are you mad? Beckham above John Charles, who must obviously be #1. Beckham was not a team regular when Real won the league yet the British press was building him up. Keegan did better at Hamburg.
What about the righteous legend, Luther Blissett? He was great for Watford in 1982, as Division One top scorer in his first season in that league with 27 goals. He moved to AC Milan for £1m and scored just 5 goals that season. Italians started a group called the Luther Blissett Project. You could be him by adopting the name, Luther Blissett. "When it came to not scoring, he was something of a genius." - John Foot. WHAT A DON
Reading some of the comments on this video was painful. Do people not understand geography? I must have read "bales welsh" about 10 times! Loving how Joey Barton got in the top 5 too, good one Copa90
How the hell is Barton ahead of the likes of Kevin Keegan? Keegan arguably should be number seeing as he won the European footballer of the year (now merged with the FIFA World Player of the Year awards to create the FIFA Ballon d'Or) two years in a row at Hamburg!
John Charles was voted Juventus best ever player ahead of Platini and Zidane, Kevin Keegan won 2 European Player of the Year awards whilst at Hamburg and Chris Waddle was voted 2nd best player of the century at Marseille behind Papin, all better than Joey Barton
What about these players? Mark Hateley - AC Milan, Monaco Kevin Keegan - Hamburg Steve Mcmanaman - Real Madrid David Platt - Juventus, Sampdoria Graeme Souness - Sampdoria, Rangers Paul Lambert - Borussia Dortmund Chris Waddle - Marseille Ray Wilkins - AC Milan, PSG Ian Rush -Juventus Michael Ball - PSV Eindhoven
I have a question... how the hell do you put in Joey Barton, and not a legend like John Charles? "Rated by many as the greatest all-round footballer ever to come from Britain"
im from australia so correct me if im wrong but isnt paul pogba born in the uk? if so, i cant seem to understand why he wouldnt be in the list knowing that juve signed him off man utd for free and now is worth 60m+ ...
John Charles was woted the best juventus player ever and Hes not een on the list he should be number one. I'm 14 and if there is any old people here who have seen him play i would like to hear More about him
Yes but at this current time Beckham has achieved more abroad than Bale has abroad since Bale has only just gone Real. This list at the current time is just fine but I'm sure in a few years he will achieve more than Becks, especially with the players that Real keep buying. He is more than just a set piece specialist though if you watch him play he can be great playmaker but I agree that Bale can do more than him.
Jesus Christ, players prices are really ridiculous nowadays, i mean, Beckham was worth 25m back in the day, and now fucking Lallana is worth that price.
This is wrong in every way I'll try to fix it
1.John Charles (Juventus)
2.Kevin Kegan (Hamburg)
3.Steve Mcmanaman (Real Madrid)
4.Gary Lineaker (Barcelona)
5.Gareth Bale (Real Madrid)
you are one real fan...we don't see many fans like you this days....most are pretenders
Shaikh Mohammed Yunus
thanks
according to this top 5 list football was first played 5 years ago,
Robin Banks It was 1 year ago
Yoosuf Ahmad couldnt agree more, this is why i hate when they do these videos, some of the lists they do is absurd how the fuck is Barton in this? he done fuck all compared to the legendary John Charles who was voted the greatest foreign player to play for Juve, Mcmanaman won the CL with Real and Keegan became a superstar in Germany, not to mention Paul Lambert who won the CL with Dortmund.
ryan gauld is a good one played for dundee united and sporting lisbon bought him and put a 60 million buyout clause
He's so overrated and inconsistent
footballfan21 do you watch dundee united?
*****
To be fair, the standard of football in the SPL isn't that great, but I do agree he was good for Dundee.
droidcube
My bad.
a guy from scotland that looks promising
John Charles?
Welsh player who could play both CB and ST to a world-class level. He played for Juventus for 5 years between 1957 to 1962. Was voted Juventus' best ever foreign player, as well as being voted as the Seria A's best ever foreign import, ahead of players such as van Basten, Maradona and Zidane.
Wow, someone like this would not be around today, BUT maybe they could play for LVG'S man Utd. Short of top notch CB's and strikers.
Italian clubs adore their english legends....John Charles was rated among finest players of this generation
Too bad John Charles was a Welsh legend, not an English one.
Steve Mcmanaman??
thats what i was thinking
rush and keegan too
Teckoe john charles
Kev Set I
What about Owen Hargreaves?
He not just transferred abroad... He actually came through in the Bayern Munich youth teams and stayed at the club for 10 years. Maybe he's not really remembered in England, since he was constantly plagued by injuries when he joined ManU after his Bayern career. But at Bayern he is still a bit of a club legend.
But Owen Hargreaves was born in Canada, so technically he's not British.
Yeah, you're right about his birthplace... But afaik he has always held a british passport and he played for england after all. So I guess he would qualify for this list.
But he's still a Canadian. No matter what country he played in his birth country is his nation.
I have to disagree. Your nation is what it says on your passport. And if you are born to british parents that happen to live in Canada at the time of your birth and you have a britsh passport, you definitely are british. This idea of your country of birth being your nationality is very much depending on the laws in the countries at question.

How about John Charles, Kevin Keegan, Steven McManaman, Tony Woodcock, Glenn Hoddle, David Platt, Chris Waddle, Graeme Souness or Trevor Francis?
I know most of you will disagree but I think Owen Hargreaves at bayern should be on this list.
it's sad how they cant do top 5 brits abroad today. probably because the only good brit who is welsh is bale. I cant think of any other brit who is even in the first division of a top league in europe. the only other brit is bradley wright philips who has scored 21 goals this season in the MLS
Kenny Pavey! AIK Stockholm LEGEND! Still plays for the club and has won the league with them, you should interview him.
What about John Charles the Welshmen. He was incredible for Juventus.
Teddy Sheringham played for Djurgårdens IF in Sweden in 1985.
Are you mad? Beckham above John Charles, who must obviously be #1. Beckham was not a team regular when Real won the league yet the British press was building him up. Keegan did better at Hamburg.
Joey Barton's single goal in France was something special
Lmao Joey Barton to QPR is more significant than Steve McManaman to Real Madrid???
Got to be honest, I normally disagree with the order of all of these lists but this time I completely agree
WHAT A DON
why not the best ever british center back JONATHANNNN WOODGATEEEEE
joey barton ahead of the likes john charles, kevin keegan, steve mcmanaman, laurie cunningham, is shocking
I think you forgot John Charles, Steve Mcmanaman, Kevin Keegan actually existed
It's sad how they don't cover any players before the 80s...
Reading some of the comments on this video was painful. Do people not understand geography? I must have read "bales welsh" about 10 times! Loving how Joey Barton got in the top 5 too, good one Copa90
Why is joey Barton in the top 5. Where's Kevin Keegan, John Charles and Steve mcmanaman.
Wow no Mcmanaman, Charles, Hargraves or the Scot that played for BVB whose name I forget but Joey Barton gets in.
Paul Lambert my bad
Also Platt and Keegan
MICHEAL OWEN !!!!
but he was one of the best brits to play abroad, the title doesnt infer that they played well abroad :)
***** well it does a bit but is is fairly vague in the actual meaning
Yes but if it does slightly imply that and that's what they meant they aren't going to not go with their idea
I still can't believe that guy won a ballon d'or. This has to be one of the best football jokes ever haha
Lina Desbois you didnt watch him duing his prime then
Paul Lambert.... won the Champs League with Dortmund.
you have joey barton in there and not steve mcmanaman. he won 2 champions league and 2 la liga with madrid. also scoring in one of those finals
I love how when English people don't have many great English sportsmen to choose from we're all British all of a sudden xD
Litterly like 90% of great athletes in Britain comes from England. They make up like 90% if the UK's population
Exactly if andy murray does shit he's a filthy scot (I like the scottish though), but if he does well, he's a brittish hero.
It annoys me that most of the people in the comments dont know that Wales is a part of Britian
I can't believe you put some dude in there and left Owen or Kevin Keegan out, yeah Hargreaves as well
How is Bales goal a wonder goal, Di Maria did everything he just put it into a empty net.
he was talking about the copa del rey goal, where he ran pass bartra.
Shaan Targaryen oh sorry, I must of not heard right.
Mukund Barot Someone who calls someone a dumb shit, is not very smart himself.

How the hell is Barton ahead of the likes of Kevin Keegan? Keegan arguably should be number seeing as he won the European footballer of the year (now merged with the FIFA World Player of the Year awards to create the FIFA Ballon d'Or) two years in a row at Hamburg!
