Mariah Carey , Nirvana, White Stripes, RATM, ,....I could go on....today Ren showed up in my TH-cam feed and I immediately ran to my 41 year old musician son and said OMG you have to watch this !!!!!!! I know something special when I hear it and Ren is the real deal !!!!!! I too had several omg moments while watching this performance, especially when the devil appears and felt a soaring elation when God has his retort " I too have many names, I am HOPE, I am the One who loosens the knot in the rope" !!!! Kelly, I'm just 10 years younger than you and had pretty much given up on "modern" music as nothing has impacted on me in a long while. It reminded me of the first time I heard Bohemian Rhapsody on the radio. Like you I wanted to share it like I was 15 again. The journey through the story is also akin to Stairway to Heaven (imo). Just like those two this is a classic in an instant.
Reminded me of the first time I heard Dylan, It's Alright Ma, for the impact.

64 year old female here, and I completely agree. I think the phrase "I'm the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope" is one of the most important, impactful phrases ever spoken, and I can't hear it without my heart clenching. I believe firmly that one day Ren's brilliance will be spoken of as Prince's still is. After countless watchings, this song's impact has not softened. "We are all human beings" is my daily mantra and prayer.
I have been watching reaction video after reaction video of this song for the past 2 weeks. I think I have heard/watched this song/performance about 100 times…and I have noticed that once the climax occurs with the dark side…and it switches to the light side. 99% of reactors stop worrying about how they are reacting, and start truly listening to this masterpiece. Thank you for your reaction video…and you have gained a new fan as well. I still get chills every time I watch Hi Ren, and I get even more when watching that transition of a reactor turning from a person scrutinizing a video…to someone scrutinizing themselves and how this hits them personally. Love it.

I just found Hi Ren yesterday at around 1am... I watched reaction videos and his other music videos until 7am LOL. I was tired at work today fr.
I must have watched HI REN 40+ times in the last two months, picking up tidbits from one reactor after another. Just now I noticed something that other people probably knew long ago... that when Ren talks about the light-dark-pendulum dance, he drifts side to side as he walks toward the camera... and the camera sways along with him... panning back and forth against the background... partnering, like us Ren-understudies, in the dance.
9 months later I’m doing the same thing. I’m making a compilation for myself of reactions to the first falsetto section compared to the last.
He recorded it and performed it in one go. No breaks no edit. He’s a genius.

I read a post he made speaking of the voice in his head that he's had since he was a child, so it would likely be schizophrenia from prior to when he developed Lyme and then spent over 7 years being mis-diagnosed and deteriorating as a consequence.

I love how EVERYBODY, goes quiet when it ends, it's thst 'I need a few seconds to process' pause. Really good reaction mate.
You can see the respect in your eyes. The silence at the end of the track was perfect, you knew that you had witnessed, possibly, one of the most creative musical artists of this century. You just were in awe and were not sure what to say as you sat in silence appreciating a master at work. The track is very complex and Ren nailed it. His timing is remarkable, the story telling superb and the production amazing.
I don't know how many times I've watched this video (and the rest of his catalog now), but I literally get chills every time he rises from that chair. I know it's coming. I can tell you the exact chord he's playing...still get chills.

Ren's an absolute genius, such a multi talented guy, and who can disagree after a performance of his art like we have seen in this video. He's got many other amazing tracks / art including a trilogy (that needs to be watched in the correct order) called Jenny's tale, Screech's Tale and Violet's Tale.
I only discovered him a couple of months ago myself but I'm sure it's not going to be long before he's very, very well known across the world.

This was one of the most moving things I’ve seen in a very long time. Genius.
I have tears in my eyes every single time I listen to this. It hits so deep. I deal with alot of the same things from an autoimmune disease to the mental struggles and the struggles with medications, never quite getting that relief and getting to that point where the voice in your head takes over saying "why keep going to these doctors, it isn't going to help you"...
That voice inside that isn't a real voice, but has so much to say and so much sway. We give it that power over us. I'm glad Ren seems to have found a way to handle it. Hope all of us who struggle with it kind find that dance and stop having to fight as victims.

Ren is the greatest musical artist of our generation, he's a modern day Van Gogh, but he still here and it's amazing.
This song was the first Ren song I ever heard. It had a profound impact on me. The first time I heard it, it was so deep, so overwhelming that I suddenly had to cry, I was so deeply moved. I have never experienced such an authentic artist in my entire life. Since then, he has surprised me every day with his versatility and what moves him. I hope we will hear a lot more from him, and above all, I hope he gets better and doesn't have to constantly deal with pain and immense burden. It's always the people who give the most that have the least because they know from their own experience what it's like to be alone in the darkness, hoping for help that never appears.
Ren is absolutely amazing. He has such a beautiful gift and message to share. His passion for his art speaks volumes and he's going to reach and help heal so many with his artistic expression. Love it.

Ive now watched about 20 reaction videos to Hi Ren, some better than others, you captured the neuance in the lyric well for a first time listen and by now im sure youve realised there is so much more, beautifully set with emotion and passion in the cinematography, 3 cams, live vocals, man, guitar, perfection.

I've watched Hi Ren at least 100 times in the past 2 weeks. Of those 100 times about 15 were react videos. Your reaction was the most authentic among the others, mainly due to the fact the when Ren locked his alter-ego inside and temptation and despair took over, you looked totally blown away, were speechless for the remainder of the performance. I know this feeling well... it's the same feeling I get every single time I watch Hi Ren. My heart goes out to Ren for sharing it to the world. Love bother... respect!

Musically, you missed the Celtic trick after Evil Ren's rant. Ren doesn't say the expected words and doesn't contribute to the tempo.
He doesn't say, "I spent half OF my life BE-ING ill"
He sings, "I spent half my life ill." In our heads we are adding the words he chopped until we are left wondering how we got out of step...
Lastly, "Some people know me as 'HOPE' // Some people know me as the // voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope" plays again and again in later songs such as Money Game Part 3.

As for the "She sells seashells on the seashore", that's reference to another song by him, Money Game II, which is a sequel to Money Game
He also does music in his band the big push, lots of covers and just jamming.
He speaks about the fact that he heard voices when he was young. He has said that, that's what the whole song is, he heard voices
This entire reaction was beautiful and considered but, from the ‘newsflash’ onwards was the best reaction response I’ve ever seen. I love the intricate deep dive and analytical stuff, but after the change up your body language, your facial expression, your silence was the most audible and expressive language we humans (Ren 人) can voice. SO glad you reacted to this....I stumbled across this a few days ago and have been dying to see others reactions as I think it is a masterpiece of pure art!
I think most of us had the same reaction. That initial confusion, then intrigue, and that moment it just hits you that you are watching something extraordinary just in awe. Its almost emotional overload while trying to take it all in. Mesmerized by the moment.
I thankfully found this song recently and have dug into a lot of Ren's other work which is all over the place genre wise. From the amazing story telling like the trilogy (Tale of Jenny and Screech (Full)) to rapping like "Genesis" or old school rapping in "What You Want" then amazing singing in "Chalk Outlines" which is one of my favorites... and even more with the street busker stuff, the rock songs with him in the band The Big Push, etc... all of it has been so good.
This is probably the 20th reaction video I've watched of this now and I will continue watching all the reaction videos. It's honestly the greatest song I've heard in a long, LONG, time and it makes me tear up every time

Great reaction bro! Saw Hi Ren when it came back and I was so hyped to see some reactors see it. When people talk about art I think the term gets thrown around casually. In a traditional sense art is supposed to move you and make you feel. While I enjoy a lot of music, this song taught me how rare it was that music really moved me. GL in 2023 brother.

Violet's Tale was released about 2 years after Jenny's and Screech's and on Ren's TH-cam channel the trilogy are played in this order. 👍🏻

This is my favorite reaction (I’ve watched all of them), you didn’t step on the video, you gave insightful reactions. Loved it. I notice something different each time like the “evil ren”, has a small lamp and the “good ren” has a larger lamp. Like his good light is shining brighter than his dark one, and it’s always going to be a dance between the two.
I discovered him there is like 3-4 years on his performance on Blind Eyes with Sam Tompkins. This dude got an amazing talent. This is not just music, this is a piece of art.

I came upon a few of your Harry Mack reactions before, I liked them, especially the analysis but never subscribed since I actually don't listen to a lot of rap (it is fun to watch reactions to Harry Mack though). Now Ren is the best artist I have discovered in the past 10 years maybe (listening to him for a year) and your reaction was so good! Thanks for reacting to him, I will definitely checkout your other reactions to see if there is something I may like, and will definitely watch if you react to more Ren stuff.
As for what to react to next his tales trilogy is similar to this (acoustic guitar + rapping + singing) they are all single shot videos, and live audio recorded. Jenny's, Screech's and Violet's tale. I would love to see you reacting to them (in that order, since there is a continuous narrative).
His most famous song is probably Money Game Part 2 (which has a small connection to this one, which I am sure you will spot), that one and the first Money Game are also great. He has lots of rap songs, eclectic stuff (rap, reggae, soul, blues, rock) and also unbelievably good ballads. And a hip-hop only album coming (already released 3 singles).
He was also part of a rock band called the Big Push doing originals and covers. Which, rock! :)
Oh you have other channels and own music as well. Checked out Demons. And spot on, similar concept, similar struggles (which all humans share I think). No wonder, you liked Hi Ren, you thought about these things before. Good stuff mate, I am liking it! :)

It hits us all. Hard. The depression, the negativity, doubt, hatred, destruction, evil. It's summed up brilliantly, but couldn't exist without the positivity, the love, kindness, compassion, hope, by the strength that shines through. Ren has gotten this far because he has such will power, an amazing compassion and love. It's always those that have been or are going through alot of crap that really show love, bravery and compassion the most. Wonderfully detailed reaction! ❤

Great, intricate breakdown of this Masterpiece, most detailed I've seen and I appreciated things I didn't notice I'd noticed until you spelled out for me why I loved or appreciated a certain part, eg the compound rhyme explanation.
Another YT reactor said "Ren is a Wormhole, I need to deep dive this guy" and that's exactly it - I, like thousands of his Community (for that is what his presence has created amongst us followers) see him with one performance and automatically we feel compelled to deep dive and watch everything he has produced- and each piece is so unique, a surprise, covering a multitude of genres brilliantly. He's a lyrical and performance genius who truly captivates his audience and draws them into his world, yet so authentic and humble. His Reach is two- pronged I feel: those who simply enjoy and appreciate his musical and performance genius; and those who resonate with parts of his story as he articulates our own pain and struggles, our own battles of Darkness and Light. Imo, he's a born Warrior of Light and is now stepping into his Power to shine his Light of hope, inspiration and validation through the myriad of gifts and talents he has. I'm so glad for him this deeply personal, vulnerable masterpiece is now giving him the reach and spotlight he deserves - he's worked so hard for it "Renlentessly" for so long whilst still battling ill health. I still tear up at when he starts singing as he steps into his Light. "And when I am gone I will rise, in the music that I left behind..."

I like how you seem to be a very concrete balanced man and how Ren managed to get you too in the second part of your record :) I admire when I saw you really felt it, had tears and admitted the super-talent of all this masterpiece - I feel respect for you for that.
