@@rosomak6900 the band is comprised of 4 members. The other men that you can sometimes see in live performances are simply additional session musicians that they hire for live tours, but they're not in the band.
Wow, loved your reaction. I am a fan of J.R.R Tolkien and his Lord of the Rings Books and have never been a fan of metal music until I read somewhere that Blind Guardian made a concept album inspired by Tolkiens book "The Silmarillion". I had to buy this album because I found it very interesting how a fantasy book inspires a metal band to make an album. Since then I am listening to metal music and became a fan of Blind Guardian, Eluveitie, Jinjer, Sabaton, Ayreon and of course Nightwish. I like Epica, Kamelot, Within Temptation and metal music in general and all because Blind Guardian made this one album. And as some people call Tuomas the "Metal Mozart" because of his fantastic compositions, some call Hansi "The Bard" because of his great storytelling. He IS the Bard that travels from town to town singing stories with his very distinct voice. There is a legend saying that if you pass by the cattle pastures of Wacken (where the festival takes place) at night and listen very closely, you can still hear the crowd sing "Valhalla". Edit: Forgot to say that your "Ever Dream" Cover sounds pretty good already. I think it will be great.
@@elianaegomez8646 The Name of the album is: "Nightfall in Middle-Earth" and is the sixth studio album of the band. It has a lot of short spoken tracks inbetween the actual songs. The very first track is a conversation between Morgoth and Sauron in which Sauron tells his King that the enemy (the elves) are in the fortess already and suggests Morgoth should flee to the deep places ("There are places below") where he should be safe. But Morgoth says: "And you know them too. I release thee. My servant shall be for all time" and then the first song "Into the storm" begins. Fun Fact: This song is originally a Duett recorded in 1989.. Hansi sings it with guest singer Kai Hansen from Gamma Ray/ Helloween. Kai is a major player in german metal music, he has his his hands in almost every metal production in Germany if not Europe. Kai has a very distinct voice so when Blind Guardian performed this song live (and obviously it is a crowd pleaser and a fan favourite) he had to come up with a way to sing with himself a duett. Blind Guardian is very much inspired by fantasy literature, esp. lord of the rings, so your fairytale associations are spot on. They partnered with a video game company a couple of years ago and they worked with them on a game called "Sacred 2". They made an virtual in game concert (as a reward for a quest the player gets the song) and that song "Sacred worlds" is great as well and a recommendation.
First video I’ve seen of yours. You have great energy, and Guardian never disappoints. I would honestly be happy to see you react to any of their other songs, they are by far my favorite band. Seen them live twice and I’ve never been to another concert so memorable. Keep up the great work and loving the preview of the cover!
Yeah, since Hansi has cut his hair he looks just like a nice uncle xD He is most known for recording vocals with complex layering. It is often like a duet with himself. He even recorded a choir album where he sang all of the voices. And his voice has this inherent overtone, so even without that extensive layering it sounds pretty special.
Hansi had his training during blind guardian's career. If you listen to their albums in chronological order you can clearly hear the transition taking place.
BG albums usually are concept albums around fantasy a lot, even tolkiens silmarillion (lord of the rings author) was part of an album. Songs are epic studio versions usually use choirs in choruses and it is bombastic in terms of production.
ok, I try the translation. First part: I would also like to let you scream longer, unfortunately we have little time left. Of course, we want to spend it with music. I think most of you will know what comes next. It was already legendary here (in Wacken) one or the other time. I have the feeling that you will "put the crown on" this time. We had a great time up here. We always liked to come to Wacken. At some point it's time to move on. The time has come now. See you somewhere! At the end of "Valhalla": Looks cool. Sounds cool. I think I've done enough work. We should... (I can`t understand it) get into the game. You'll have to sing a little louder for that. "sing louder" "mega" "sing us off the stage" "the last three"
Concerning the part you couldn't understand, he says "I think Magnus [rhythm guitarist Markus "Magnus" Siepen] has done enough work, we should bring Frederik [Ehmke, drummer] into play now"
Really love your enthusiastic reactions! I hope I can contribute some facts from the top of my head (Blind Guardian were my first metal band, I got to know them in '98 :) ). If I remember correctly, Hansi only started to take singing lessons prior to their fifth studio album "Imaginations From The Other Side" in '95. "The Bard's Song" is from their fourth album "Somewhere Far Beyond" in '92 ("Valhalla" is taken from "Follow The Blind" in '89). In my opinion you can clearly hear how his singing improved (though he was good before). He also was playing bass guitar until '96 but then wanted to focus on singing further on. (For touring they have a session bass players ever since, never hired an official fifth band member, though the current one, also seen during the Valhalla recording, is only the second session member, they are kind of consistent with their lineup (Hansi and lead guitarist André Olbrich are founding members, rhythm guitarist Markus Siepen joined before their first album, they only switched their drummer once since starting recording albums, first six were with Thomen Stauch, since 2005 it's Frederik Ehmke.) Concerning the lead guitars, which I totally love too, in my opinion, André is one of, if not the, the best lead guitarists in the Power Metal genre. Another great song of theirs and one of my favourites is "And Then There Was Silence" about Cassandra (prior to the Trojan War from Greek mythology), it is a very long though and I don't know if there is a decent live video on TH-cam, but the studio record is awesome! Besides this one, every song from their album "Imaginations From The Other Side" ('95) and "Nightfall In Middle-Earth" ('98) is a great experience, among many others from their career. Keep up the good work! And I am looking forward to your Nightwish covers! :) Greetings from Germany!

Thanks for this reaction! I first heard this song in the early 90 while listening to their music on a walkman in a school bus! Blind Guardian are legend! They created the genre of "Power Metal" in the 90s! Most of their early works are heavily influenced by JRR Tolkien, just like "The Bards Song". They are nothing but Legend!
Thank you so much for dipping into Blind Guardian's music. Loved your reaction. The Bard's song is not just a song; it is an anthem. hey you can do those distorted voices, you've got everything it takes. Relaxing your neck and supporting yourself with your stomach, use your head voice and try to modulate it in a relaxed way until you "find" the subharmonic folds. I wasn't able to do it without hurting myself until I was able to relax everything and use my stomach. You can find this muscle if you make the sound that is made when falling on the couch exhausted (some like: ahhh..!). Sorry for my English and a greeting I hope I have helped.
Blind Guardian is playing in front of 82000 Fans with the same energy as if they play a smaller venue with 500 Fans....seen that happen several times...they are Gold !! Typically in Blind Guardian, lead guitarist André Olbrich writes the music and Hansi writes the lyrics and vocal melodies.
Great Anastasia - now, as someone else mention, if you to hear another project Hansi participate into, Avantasia - leaded by Tobias Sammet (the captain in Ayreon's The day that the word breaks down) -slso together with a norwegian power metal hero Jørn Lande - the Raven Child: th-cam.com/video/czJJBH-7J5s/w-d-xo.html:
