I once worked with a lad who on average worked anything between 50 and 60 hours a week. He once told me that his young son would shy away from him and sometimes hide behind his mum because he didn't really know his dad that well - this lad was like a stranger in the eyes of his son!! 😮 That story has always stayed with me and that's why I left a really well paid job when my children were born, I took a pretty big reduction in my wages to guarantee that I'd be able to spend time with my children!! I've got no regrets and I don't think you will have any either!! Nothing compares to family - especially your children!! You're 100% doing the right thing mate!! 👍❤️

As the WEF said about the common working man, "you will own nothing, and be happy", only the rich and elites get to enjoy good art and anything that increases the quality of a man's life, you work your whole life for something your passionate about, and the poor sods end up having to get rid of it all because they need the cash, shouldn't be that way, you're supposed to enjoy and pass it on to the kids, that's why it's called an investment.

I have a massive collection and I always thought like you this is for them when I’m gone which kinda made sense but my eldest kid said what’s the point we won’t want to go through it all we should be spending time and making memories now life’s to short. I lost my sister father mother and partner really young and I’m in my 40s only. Just buy a shelf bruv, stick it on there, shouldn't take over your life, take something off when you have 5 minutes to let off steam, don't overthink this stuff, it's something to pass on to the kids, like all art, you get to look at it and enjoy it and up the quality of your life, and then pass it on to the sprogs. I totally get if you can't afford to keep and enjoy it though, if money is needed, that's a shame, but understandable of course.
It’s not needed as such but it would just help to clear some debts so I don’t have to work 7days a week and I’d have more time with my kids and enjoy the stuff I’m keeping
@@Waynesworldofgaming Well you gotta do what you gotta do, for me, I like to enjoy these things that I have collected over the years, they are part of my history, and it's nice to have something tangible to show and pass on, these things also get more valuable as time passes, and it's nice to have a nest egg that I can enjoy myself at the same time, vinyl and legacy video games that are kept in good condition will be worth a fortune in 20 year or more, if we are still here that is (way things are going right now I'm not sure), I am in no way materialistic though, even though it may sound like I am, I just enjoy and like to preserve art.
I'm at a point at the minute where I've got so many games piled up, spent loads of money, countless times stressing over what I should play, then when it comes down to it, I don't even play 90% of it anyways. So it begs the question a bit, what's the point in buying them? I hate the collecting aspect, just piles of shit shoved on shelves, not enough space for any of it and I think of myself more as a gamer first, but my gaming habits don't even suggest I am. All part of the dillemma I suppose? Honestly bro I’m in the same position as you working weekend and throughout the week, recently finding out the wife is pregnant with our first and my games room is taking up the spare room, I’m 24 with a wife 1 sheep dog and a King Charles spaniel puppy, with my games room taking up majority or the spare room granted it’s mostly ps3 stuff I think this video has mad me come to the realisation of games will be always there but family always comes first, I know If I was to sell an expensive ps3 game I’d know it would go to the right owner but apart of me thinks it won’t, I am 2 bottle of wine deep into writing this comment so I won’t be surprised if this doesn’t make sense at all haha, I’m just in a nostalgic path with finding out the wife being pregnant and knowing I won’t have much time to game a stuff and for me being the nerd to whatever it js I know gaming it gonna be outta window for me at least 2 to 3 years from now like when it come to me having Time to game again will I be restless to game or will I eve r game again, all in all I’ve thought about selling my ps3 collection to be able to provide for my family soon to come because we’re both also in debut with passed bills and credit cards, so after seeing this just shows that family comes first and games means nothing more that family first
You can always buy games again my friend but your family will only be there once. Don’t waste the gift. As for the gaming side, I have a 5 month old and still manage to games most nights so not all is lost. Hope everything works out for you mate
@@Waynesworldofgaming for real man, after finding out ima be father really soon really it me hard but after seeing this video made me change my mind set on no matter the value of the collection right now is the collection to my wife means £50 and to my kid in years to come might mean f all but yea, even with gta 6 slowly being released and having thousands of hours on gta5 I think I have to put my family first before gaming& debut, I hope all it well for your family… I’ll always be here to support with Merthyr being my local CeX I believe your local myself so growing up is this the part of life :)
Your making a good choice family is important. But as a gamer you will eventually have remorse for some of the games you sold. I would suggest that you keep a few of your holiest grails from each console to ease the remorse when it comes. Sell everything else but keep your very favorite ones.
Alright bro. Brave video - it's hard to talk about adulting in the real world, particularly in front of millions. Family always comes first, so it looks like your priorities are right. I'm not convinced that it's worth acting so quickly though. I'm a big fan of you and your channel even though we've gone off and done other things in life, but this journey has taken more turns and 180s that I'm not quite sure you know what you want on times! I think the Pokemon collection was a prime example - I haven't seen many videos where you've had a genuine zest for collecting when you were picking up some of the big hitters, so to see that get thrown out of the window was a tough one but I understood the reasons. This seems like a misstep though - yes, you can emulate old games but then you can also emulate driving a Ferrari in Forza Motorsport or Gran Turismo. We've grown up through the same things and I know that one of the core collecting ideals was to have that window of nostalgia for what you grew up with - so I think hoofing the PS1 collection needs reconsidering for that reason. The added danger of the PS1 and PS2 collections is that they predated the digital shopfronts and DRM - so if you bin off some of those physical media, and then digital storefronts close or withdraw rights, then you may never get the ability to play them again. At the end of the day it's your call - this view generally goes against the grain of many commenters, but in a similar position to yourself it's nice being able to be a decent dad and show off some banging hardware and software from the 80's and 90's to kids that have Game Pass, emulation, and cloud gaming at their fingertips now! Either way, look after yourself bro, I'll make a purchase for funsies :)
Appreciate you taking the time to write all that mate and you’re right in one sense. I may not have come across in the video how it was meant to, all the titles that mean most to me are staying. Consoles are staying and the accessories are staying, this is just going to be a big reset to alleviate some financial pressure. I will then start again but not quite as mental, focussing on more heavy hitters and I can have the fun of collecting them all again
Sold my whole collection about 6 years ago to free up money to buy a house, and everything in it. All consoles and games from atari to neogeo and beyond. Today I've bought some stuff back that I really wanted and emulate the rest. Have the ps5 and switch set up for me and the wee man. Family comes first.
I've just bought one of your ps2 games on vinted and found my way to your channel here. I've been toying with the idea of scaling down my collection in some way too. Maybe just keeping my favourites and emulating rhe rest or such like. I've subscribed to your channel and looking forward to watching more. Wishing you all the best moving forward!!
Totally understand why you selling up all the collection like you say family first, will go over and follow vinted see if can bag some cool games I've seen you grab over the time. Big decision mate but sometimes needs must. Those 10 ps4 sleeves I bought turned up, immaculate condition. All of them have info on the back and say for display purposes apart from Spiderman which is all red with a spider in the centre. Personally prefer the display ones with the info so will be swapping out the spiderman one. A lot on ebay seem to be the display ones so not sure what the crack is with the different versions.
@@Waynesworldofgaming they all look the same from the front so who cares. The collector inspectors who decide everything must be CIB or how it was sold originally can do one 🤣 Think the plan is once I get the games room they'll be displayed in some sort of openable shadowbox on the wall

Im getting too many of these "selling my collection" videos in my recommendation. Ehh i not really a hardcore collector or have much a large collection. The family argument is flawed but i guess everyone has there different time management that works for them. I would just sell off collection editions and pointless shovelware of games and just keep your regular core games. Don't let your wife bully and emotionally manipulate into doing sometime you actually don't want to actually do. Also ps4, ps5 and switch game collecting is overpriced at the moment especially if you having debt issues. I think you you might have to re-examine thought process into this idea of selling your collection.

@xShaunx2000 you’ll get there mate, the first baby is always a shock to the system! Yes Merthyr is my local store!
Your making a good choice family is important. But as a gamer you will eventually have remorse for some of the games you sold. I would suggest that you keep a few of your holiest grails from each console to ease the remorse when it comes. Sell everything else but keep your very favorite ones.
@@zensai-gaming that’s what I have done, I’ve kept my favourites
He’s an idiot for doing it
Alright bro.

Nice that they turned up in good condition mate. I’m confused with the difference myself if I’m honest 🙈🤣
@@Waynesworldofgaming they all look the same from the front so who cares. The collector inspectors who decide everything must be CIB or how it was sold originally can do one 🤣 Think the plan is once I get the games room they'll be displayed in some sort of openable shadowbox on the wall

This is a very good time to sell. Prices for retro games are about to drop from their peak, so my advice is to sell those first. Keep hold of your PS3 and 360 games for the time being, they're going to rise ok value over the next few years. But anything PS2 era and older, get rid.
