Love hearing this song ,first heard it on a local radio station many years ago ,finally tracked down the song and it resonates in my mind constantly 🤔😔
Johnny has been a country &Irish legend for many years . And why wouldn't he be with that beautiful crystal clear voice. And Johnny long may it continue to do so. God bless.
Loved his songs since mursheen durkin through my life and heard him often. But finally met him in Letterkenny this spring and he signed his wonderful songbook for me. Pure legend. Great performance every time. Treise le do laimh Johnny.
This is one of my very favorites...I have to listen to this almost every other day..something awesome about Johnny's voice, and the sadness of the lyrics. Just wonderful...
I first met Johnny at the Golden Nugget, a bar in Toronto, Ontario, Canada...oh so many moons ago. Late '60's and early 70's. This is certainly taking me down memory lane. I remember all the words of all the songs he sang. I am so pleased to see that he is still sharing his gift.
Yes they are called ballads; however not all Irish songs are ballads. Some are just for fun, like "The Night Pat Murphy Died" one of my favorite funny Irish songs.
Just remembered... I don't love you any more...trouble is, I don't love you any less. Now I must search for this one. The one problem I have with TH-cam is I come for one thing and before I know it many hours have passed as one thing leads to another...and another... and another
great version ,but the best version I've ever heard of this great song was by a singer, the late Noel Cassidy, he was a wonderful singer, his version is not on the web,and I don't know how to upload it ...
That is a wonderful song by a great Irish singer... back when the Irish knew who they were before they internalized the commands of their oppressors and committed suicide.
Love the singing, it is good and clear but although I know this is translated from Irish, I wish there were not so many capital letters where they do not belong and, worse, "you're" which is 'you are' in full instead of "your". Got to grumble, teaching too long!!
The best to ever come out of ireland, great song, great singer
