I am a new player and apparently the sucker types that they are looking for because I pulled on Zack just because I wanted his matching date outfit with Aerith 😂 luckily I have had good luck with the black whiskers so I will pair them together. Thanks
I don’t like these cure all abilities it’s more expensive than say fairy tale and it’s weaker heal, plus your forced to bring a cure materia , cure sucks to farm
Zacks weapon looks like a great sub weapon for cloud or tifa with the ff9 gear if you got them high enough. The amarant gloves have been great as a sub weapon for cloud, but I have to handicap his hp or phys ability potency if I want to run tifa at the same time, since she would then need to equip the gloves herself. I’ll probably wishlist zacks weapon going forward and aim to build it up as a good sup weapon for cloud.
The thing for me is I do view that phys ability potency as the best offensive stat in the game (along with mag ability potency of course) because it applies to all elements making you able to jump into battle with any materia as a back up for dungeons with a large elemental spread. The fact that his costume and weapon then chuck on high HP as well makes them incredible for having Zack be high damage and high survivability similar to what we saw with the FF9 weapons. I don't like the PDEF down being linked to having over 50% hp as that makes it a lot rougher on dungeons however. This banner is very tough to be honest Pros - Phys ability Potency (versatile damage), HP stacking for good survivability, extra effects with magic attack down, AOE heal, debuffing damage and defense on one strike is a first to my knowledge too. sub weapon potential. Cons - AOE heal not as strong for high damage single target bosses, Pdef down disappears on 50% HP (rough on harder content), steps on the toes of black whiskers already doing defense down, lower damage than the FF9 phys weapons and single target. Believe it or not (because it looks like an Imperial Era upper class suit), it was Hispanics and Afro-Americans and working class of the sort that would be wearing leather jackets a decade or so later, that popularized the Zoot.
The second I saw Zack banner and with that costume and weapon I had the biggest struggle NOT to pull. I love Zack as a character and I wanted him in my team but I couldn't switch him in as a healer instead of Aerith. Until now. I couldn't resist and pulled for 1 page. Got the costume and the ob1 and I don't regret at all because today I managed to clear both VH dungeons on S+ and also I managed to get a clear on VH Bahamut. All thanks to Zack! All I can say is it's good that the weapon makes Zack tanky. You need that for his both weapon buffs to work. Right now my Zack has no dps and is just a debuffer and healer but in the future when I get his weapon to ob6 it'll have a lot more attack from the flat stats and the phys ability potency so he'll hit harder too. As for my experience with Zack being the team healer - I like him a lot. It's Zack and his heals with my 4* Cura work very nicely. I was afraid of both VH dungeons especially with untested Zack but it was very nice and enough. I'm below VH Bahamut power recmd with below 190k team with Zack/Seph/Cloud and I equipped a second Cura for single heal when Bahamut would target single character. It worked out great for me and got me that VH clear where I thought I'd have no chance. If I had a 5* Cura it would be even better. My dream came true with having Zack in my team and I'm very happy. 🥰
What? This is Zack's physical ability up sword and suit. It's not at all like the Halloween one. That was physical attack and water potency and hp and physical attack. Those are different stats, and physical ability gives a far bigger bonus when combat stance is maxed. Physical Ability weapons are also a lot rarer, atm at least, so it has value as sub weapon on anyone's physical ability build. Whether you pulled Zack's Halloween or not, even if you're not maining Zack much, it's still worth considering, and if you're maining Zack at all, you want that costume as it's far more valuable than the Halloween. Maxxing physical attack to level seven is easy without the costumes, physical ability not so much.
So, if I want a solo build (expecially for Crisis Core) I should have the Black Whiskers and the Tweihander? I like to focus on doing damage and healing when needed. I still have the umbrella too and I almost got all the upgrades during the event.

Sometimes you have bad luck unfortunately. Thankfully this is a weapon you can drop onto wishlists and keep getting over time. Good luck on future pulls but I know the pain, the FF9 banners had super crap luck for me as well (stamps not as bad but spent quite a bit and only got one weapon above the guaranteed ones). It does feel like the rates should be a bit better some times but if you spend responsibly and enjoy all the free pulls they give now and again it could turn around.
Any chance you've thought about making videos analyzing peoples sets and offering build tips? You're super knowledgeable and while I have stuff, Im like not sure what to build with it.
Yeah this one was a no Brainerd for me, it's one of the worst banner they've released so far. I have Kuja costume and weapon and it's way better (also limited), while this is just meh and wishlistable I keep my crystal for costumes with elemental damage boost like Lucia earth I just got (we obviously getting a boss battle soon based on earth with all those Xmas earth weapons)

Matt and barret!? Ooph my aerith is kind of towing the line between healer and dps she has has 1 purple star overboost on her sun parasol, and I've been trying to overboost fairy tale, its at 1 or 2 red star. But her Chocobo Staff is max overboost (not +20 tho)
I would love to pull, but Zack is my #6 main (still level 57) and Matt is even lower (49). They really want to make it hard to build a bunch of characters.
I think I will pull it because I don't have much with Zack, and having at least one skin on my chars is a goal I have. I missed the christmas skin for Lucia, I didn't think they would take it off so quick... oh well, I'm not using her right now neither.

I think this is a good weapon & costume for zack since he had so many physical weapon, so I think the best build for him is physical dps.
