Always liked the staging of this game. The Beauties coming around on the turntable and that triple door reveal. What a spectacle!

$1299 for the refrigerator, yikes. I was making about $30,000 in 1985 and probably taking home $23,000. I guess that's why I didn't buy new appliances back then.
Full retail price. 30,000 in the south 1985, good money. Working domino's pizza. Fun job at that time.
Probably the best playing of this game in its history. Excellent work by the contestant and also good improvisation by Bob to reprise the balls used in game play.
One contestant achieved a perfect game in Super Ball in 1992. She won every prize plus $3,000 cash with the Super Ball.

If I had my way, I'd bring this game back, up the prize budget for it significantly (one door is furniture, one door a trip, one door a car) and make the cash bonus $25,000 if you nail all four balls perfectly. That would make up for the "long time" it takes to play this game.
That is a wonderful idea 💡!! But it,s 2024 almost 2025. SUPER BALL was on Price from 1981-98 which was 17 years.But it,s been 26 years since SUPER BALL was last played during the Barker era.When you add how long SUPER BALL was in the show along with how long since it was last played.That,s 43 years almost 44. Now my version of Super Ball would be BEYOND SUPER BALL- behind 1 door is a trip-door 2 is a new car 🚗 3.is a SUPER DREAM CAR 🚗 & if any contestant nails the first 3 prizes with the regular balls THEY WIN THE TRIP & THE 2 CARS 🚗🚘 (REG.& DREAM CAR)!! for the SUPERBALL-if the ball goes in the $50-$50,000 $100--$100,000 WIN!!--$250,000!!(DAYTIME) $1,000,000(PRIMETIME AT NIGHT!)

Rod's voice cracks always get me. He was so good at this job, but I can imagine it was so loud in Studio 33 that he had to push it a bit and as a result his voice cracks were hilarious. I'm good with George Gray's style, and of course Johnny Olsen was the original, but Rod Roddy and Rich Fields did it best in my opinion.

It's also the day in which Bob couldn't go on on Barker's Bargain Bar when the sign was missing... except he sat on a bulb. Oh no! And then Bob and Janice nearly got electrocuted when they tried to put the light bulb back together.

Master Key could be another. If the contestant has two keys, they could win the car with the first key.

It's not China. It was just was relatively new technology at the time, which dramatically decreases in price over time even accounting for inflation. Back then most steam irons were much larger and mostly owned by dry cleaners. Remember the first color TVs cost $1500 in 1953 dollars, equal to about $15k today. I remember buying my first 9600 baud modem for $150 in 1994 dollars, you can get those for a buck at a discount parts warehouse now, if any even still exist.

All of them are already on TH-cam. I loved them, from Bob's tuxedo, to the high prize budget, to the "nighttime" lights in the studio to even the light music bumper they have when the third/sixth contestant transition from their pricing game to the showcase showdown (since they were on primetime commercial cadence instead of daytime). Too bad it didn't last longer.
