Have ya'll thought about North Carolina? Not crazy expensive, a more seasonal year, mountains, and there's the Carolina Ren fair in the fall and the Georgia Ren Faire in the spring!

We just moved to Maine and I gotta say a lot of the things you say you guys want are a lot of reasons we moved here. 4 seasons, mild summers (autumn is a dream!) walkable small towns, one of the safest states in the country, big focus on nature/outdoor hobbies. Fairs/conventions and close to multiple other states in New England with access to ren fairies, cons, concerts, etc. Cost of living is lower than Cali. Obviously a big downside for some people is the cold winters, but we love snow. I dunno, we’re brand new, and I’m sure there will be things I don’t like. But so far, it’s got everything we wanted. It’s definitely worth looking into

Try WI or IN! You get all 4 seasons. They're cheaper with plenty of land for cottagecory and rural-ish living. But still close to Chicago with plenty of anime conventions and RIGHT THERE by Bristol which is voted #1 ren faire year after year! PS loved this, your husband is such a rare soul and you're both so wholesome together!

Might want to look at Vermont again. The best autumn colors on earth, It is cold over winter but most people hibernate in nice little cozy hidy-holes over winter, spring is cool and a fun outdoor energy, and then Vermonters are all about outdoors in the summers. FYI, the temp didn’t make it up to 90° for the whole summer. All 70°s and 80°s all summer and into the fall. It’s October 6, the temperature will be in the 70° today and I am sitting next to my window looking out at my maple tree with it’s fuchsia pink colored leaves.💗

Girl I live in wise virginia and it’s beautiful here! 4 different season. There’s a lot of farmhouses/Victorian houses. (Still out of my price range rn) but the North Carolina ren faire is like 45 mins away.

I grew up in VT and currently live in NH. If you're considering New England in general, NH is great because there is no sales tax. VT and NH have great 4 seasons, summer is mild. Any New England location involves you investing in a decent vehicle and winter tires. VT has a great art community (look up White River Jct or Burlington) southern NH is a busy place with a lot of things to do.
Pennsylvania has some really affordable living and great weather. Trust me… I’m trying to get out of Texas heat, so I relate to this. We are moving to New York in June. Albany, Rochester, and Buffalo has great cost of living. ALOT of job opportunities and the antiques and thrifting is amazing!

My husband had to go to PA for work last November and he loved it! He had to drive all over, even into NY and NJ and he said we were made for the east coast (I’ve only been to NYC and a little upstate) - definitely on our list!!

You two are adorable. This video was so cute. I live in Kansas City. I love it here. It can get VERY humid in the summer and storms can get wild but we have a kick ass ren faire and tons of fun outdoorsy stuff to do. You can drive 20 minutes in any direction and hit a more rural feeling area. You could feasibly find that cottage in the woods you're dreaming of! Also Colorado is only an 8 to 9 hour drive away and like a 45 min flight. Just sayin lol ❤
Move to central
Kentucky, it’s beautiful, 4 seasons… still hot and humid summers but that’s to be expected!
If you’re actually curious good places to check out are the Louisville and Lexington areas and surrounding towns…. Even Richmond or Berea (especially Berea) and we have a good RenFair in Eminence, KY and then another great one is just 3ish hours north in Ohio. We also have plenty of cosplay events (like Comicon, but there are others) that come through both Louisville and Lexington!
Michigan may be your cup of tea.

I’ve never seen a couple so well suited! So cute! Honestly I was going to suggest you move to Ireland because we have all four seasons and even recently it hasn’t gone above 30C… But we don’t have Ren Faires, which really sucks.

Bucks county PA is a pretty great place location wise! 3 ren faires (Maryland, PA, and NY) all within 2ish hours of driving. Close to Trenton NJ so you can take the train up to NYC. 1 hour ish drive from the Jersey shore (point pleasant, NJ). Drivable to Philly within 40 min-1 hour depending on traffic and there’s always the train to take into Philly as well! 4 hours ish to Washington DC too! Bucks can be expensive depending on the area but damn I forget how great of a central location it is.
You mentioned about places to live; Michigan is beautiful 😁 and we do have a Renaissance Fair

New England has all the seasons and access to the ocean, mountains, forests, etc, but some areas are expensive. You would have to do your research. CT is beautiful, but some areas are pricey, but there are a lot of job opportunities here.
Maybe think about Tehachapi, CA. It has four seasons, it gets snow but not too much. It's not that hot in the summer because it's higher altitude. It's not that far away from Los Angeles and other areas where there are Ren faires. And it's relatively cheap.
you could come up to Oregon. If you live in the Willamette Valley it's about an hour to the beach and an hour to the mountain
If you want to live in the least problematic state it’s Wisconsin. It’s got a ren faire and a nice city by the lake, lots of beautiful country side. I think there are a few small cons in mke and chi. You’re close to Chicago if you wanted a bigger city to tour. And Minneapolis is close by as well and mall of America. Oh and beautiful seasons and in the south of wisco the winters are not horrible and summers aren’t super hot either.

I would highly recommend moving to Virginia. They have one of the best renaissance festivals from what I have heard. And the cost of living can be made by just being an assistant store manager making $20.00 an hour full time.

Yes dachshund! Why not try looking a bit in Nebraska there are less humid 4 season areas, lots of countryside and within 7 hours or less you can be in Denver, Minneapolis, Chicago or Kansas City.
Also you should hit up big River Steampunk in Hannibal Missouri it’s a little cross between ren fair and cons. It’s staged through a historic downtown area. And you could easily be a steampunk fairy and a Mandalorian
Up north.. Astoria, Seattle, Portland.
I think you guys would like Illinois!! We have really nice fall weather and the leaves are so pretty when they start turning (which they already have where I am!!) And our winters can get pretty cold, but they're definitely tolerable once you get use to it, because it can start getting cold here pretty early :')) other than that it's awesome here!! :33

I’m not sure I can handle this. 😂 My husband and I are huge SG1 fans (I like the movies and Atlantis too, but SG1 will always be #1; probably because I’m ancient and watched it when it was first in tv…) and I keep trying to convince him we need to do an SG cosplay one day… Such a fun q&a; you two are adorable! ❤
If you moved up here in the Sierra Nevada's (I'm in Twain Harte) It's not hot like in the valley. We also don't get all of the winter fog that you guys do. PS Plymouth fair was really hot this year.

As someone who lives in texas, I can confirm, its way too frickin hot here. Death swamp levels bad, my husband is a lil sweaty guy and he is permanently damp here lol. Although the ren fair scene is *chef's kiss*. The texas ren fest bathrooms, I know weird thing to be impressed by, but they are the best.

I lived in CO for many years and my partner’s from there, and if you’re concerned about the income to expenses ratio definitely don’t move there. I found it harder to survive there on a low income than NYC, because there’s a pretty aggressive anti-poor setup as far as housing policy, available cheaper food options, gas/driving requirements, etc (at least in the Boulder/Denver area). Gorgeous landscapes, weird humans and cool art stuff, but we basically got pushed out by cost of living. My 2 cents. Philly on the other hand? I think y’all should check it out. It’s humid though.
Honestly? Have you considered Pittsburgh? I’m from there and if my job weren’t so specific I’d probably move back. It’s a good combo of pretty, weird, and affordable. Please don’t tell anyone else though 🙃. Other than that, Madison WI might be worth a look.
It’s rough out here though. I really appreciate y’all acknowledging that reality in your content- it’s a relief in a sea of papering it over.

Almost like an essay really. haha I basically responded to some of the questions and had a few suggestions with customer service jobs from popular big brand grocery store (WlMt) and phone company (Vzn). Yeah it gets a lot better. When it started out it was purely a parody of Star Trek and was very slapstick comedy. As the show progresses it starts to develop more range. It still had some comedic elements but especially by season 3 it commits to a more serious tone with the occasional joke. I would say quite a few episodes of season 1 aren’t it but there are some really good ones. Season 2 was very good. Season 3 was its best.
The reason it starts to find it’s footing and feels like Star Trek even though its not is because 1) Seth McFarland is a huge Trekkie and 2) they brought on some creators who worked on Next Gen and Voyager I believe
