    IT’S A MONSTER OF A DRAM
Ardbeg Wee Beastie is the latest permanent expression to join the Distillery’s Ultimate Range. At just five years old, Wee Beastie is a feisty young creature with a formidable taste.
    SOMETHING BIG AND SMOKY…
Our whisky creators set out to make the rawest, smokiest Ardbeg ever. The result is Ardbeg Wee Beastie and this tongue-tingling, beautifully smoky dram is the youngest Ardbeg we’ve ever made.
On the snout, intense aromas of cracked blacked pepper mingle with sappy pine resin and a sharp tang of smoke. Suddenly, an explosive mouthfeel bursts forth with chocolate, creosote and tar. Savoury meats sink into the palate before the long salty mouthcoating finish slinks away… revealing the inner beast of this Islay icon.
Young and intensely smoky, this is a dram untamed by age. Matured in ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, Wee Beastie is perfect for enjoying neat or as the mouth-watering main ingredient in a powerfully smoky cocktail.
    Non chill-filtered at 47.4%.

Great wee dram, no brainer for the price and kudos to Ardbeg for putting an age statement on it. Nothing wrong with younger peated whisky, just ask uncle Octomore!

Fantastic release. When I first got it. The store by me had it on the shelf a few days early so I ran over to grab one. But they had it priced the same as the 10 yo. So I hesitated for a split second and then I said to myself. You’re not an Ardbeg fan if you don’t get it. 😂 so I did and wasn’t disappointed at all 🤙🥃

Great review Vin, and I look forward to trying this one.
Please don't change the way you run your channel as the way you're running it is what makes it so appealing. Your honest, to the point and no 'whisky snobbery' reviews make them so enjoyable, especially for newcomers to whisky. IMHO, it's great to see reviews that are not all about pricy, cask strength, age stated, cork plugged bottles, so no need to apologise about age statements.
Keep up the great work. Cheers 🥃🥃

Try an Arran 10 after an Ardbeg 5 (yes, I know it's taboo) it's like tasting the best sweet honey (with a twist of lemon) on a smoky tongue. Gotta try these things.

I like this one Vin. Islay Scotch doesn’t really get hurt by being a bit younger. The thing I would warn those that haven’t tried it yet is that you need to get past the “neck”. This one changes quite a bit past the neck. When I had my first pour I really thought it was disappointing. So I let it be for a bit. I came back on the second pour and it was slightly better. From the third pour down, it was terrific. We pay $49.99 USD here. That’s a fair price. The Ten is $55.99. I wouldn’t buy the Wee Beasty as a replacement for the Ten. I buy it as a compliment to the Ten.

The offer price is brilliant for this bottle, was very happy to grab it under £30, even if I don't tend to reach for it often. I am not sure if the ten has increased a bit in cost since this came out but great to see an Ardbeg in the supermarket.

    • @NoNonsenseWhisky

I really enjoyed the bottle of this I got last year, punchy dirty smoke and peat from the young age but a subtle fruity sweetness too.
The young age really doesn't seem to hurt heavily peated whisky much. A 5 year old Watt Whisky Inchfad from Loch Lomond I picked up a couple months ago has really impressed me for the age of it too.

    • @NoNonsenseWhisky

Love the Wee Beastie, from the name, to the nose, to the taste, it's a fantastic expression. The Uigeadail is superior of course, but for the price range, it's a great expression. The Corryvreckan is a bit much for me, (but it does make for a fantastic Penicillin), that said, the Wee Beastie is going to be a staple in my liquor cabinet. It's "green" compared to other Ardbegs, but it's also much less expensive. Strongly recommended for fans of peat.
