The houses in Bluey are designed after a suburb in Brisbane. Their’s is a style of house called a ‘Queenslander’ which is wooden and built on stilts for airflow and to sit above any floodwater.
It’s most like the suburb of Ashgrove or Redhill which is really hilly and subtropical.

When I used to live in Dallas, in the USA, there was a T-shirt someone used to wear at school. "It's hard to be humble when you are a Texan". I thought it was humor and laughed at it. I think it was supposed to be serious. The response from my laugh wasn't what I expected. Some Australians could be a bit like Texans. Hanna-Barbera had animation studios in French’s Forest, a suburb of Sydney in the 1960’s onwards. They worked on many successful television shows, including The Huckleberry Hound Show, The Flintstones, The Yogi Bear Show, Top Cat, The Jetsons.
A family friend of ours worked there as a studio manager.
Before HB came to Australia we had a not very well animated character called the ‘Flying Dog-ter’ - obviously one of Bluey’s ancestors!

Our neighbour was an actress and dancer, still working at 80+! 😂 More interesting was the left-handedness of the artist! I expect that the easy smiles on Australian's faces is a big difference! 😁

I have never seen an episode of Bluey and I live in Queensland that Brisbane is the Capitol of. I did grow up near my Nana who always had a Blue Heeler or Cattle Dog named Rover. They come in Blue and Red just like his family and they are so smart. Rover saved my Uncles life at 18 months old. He followed him one day when he escaped out of the yard. Saw him fall into a deep Dam and jumped in after him. Rover found a spot in the middle of the Dam he could stand up on and he patiently waited there with the back of my Uncles clothes in his mouth until they were found. My Nana lived on the Hume Highway in Sydney. That is the main road that connects Sydney and Melbourne. Rover was bred to round up cattle, they are born working dogs. He used to try and round up 18 wheelers, I was there one day when he caught one. He was sitting at the back door waiting and bleeding. He had been torn open from his left ear, across his throat and down to his right leg. I was about 4 years old and I told Nana he needed a bandaid. She didn’t even blink, she told Rover to get the stuff while she got boiled water and disinfectant. He grabbed the first aid bag jumped on a chair and onto the table. She cleaned him up and then she stitched him up. He never even flinched and I never want to watch that again. Australian’s of my Dad’s era used the word Bluey for many things like cattle dogs or people with red or ginger hair can still be called Bluey. It is such an Aussie word. Now I get video’s of my sons Bluey, named Missy working his cows on my phone. He found a group of teens using her as a soccer ball when she was bout 6 weeks old. He took their ball back to his Clinic, dressed her wounds and stitched her. Then I got a report with photos every week on weight gain and anything funny she did. It is the law that Mother’s stay interested.

That's a Blackwing pencil. Looks like she's using the 602 Firm Blackwing over the softer black Blackwing. They are American, originally Faber-Castell then discontinued in the late 90s, causing artists to pay $40 or more to get their hands on them. Then in the 2000s another American company Cederwood (?) took up the Blackwing and we've all been happily over paying for pencils ever since.😅 Some say the new graphite formula of the greylead isn't as good, but still a great pencil. Blackwing's are known for their rectangular ferrule and replaceable erasers, it's the trademark look

ive actually never watched Bluey even though im in Brisbane... i just saw the locations and thought omg thats Paddington I use to live there. I just assumed it was set on a farm because Blue Heelers are farm dogs. Paddington is right in the middle of the city

It's delightful, just as much fun for adults as for kids. My sister put me onto it when it first came out after watching it with her grand kids 😄

Australians have been producing animated shows since at least the 1960s. Arthur and the Square Knights of the Round Table was an animated show made here in the 1960s and sold overseas. You can find examples of it on TH-cam.

Thanks Ryan for another great video, some info - felix the cat was another australian creation but filmed over in the US and early on Australian had a great film industry but the government of the day from memory awarded the government film contract to a french company which basically destroyed our flourishing industry. The first ever feature film was australian the kelly gang

That was great fun and it’s amazing how Bluey has taken off. Blueys Dad, Bandit or David McCormack, was lead singer in a few bands one I loved was Custard and they had a few hits on Spotify, TH-cam very catchy indie fun stuff. Davy is also a friend of the family and yeah I live in Brisbane. Oh and no Aussie would ever say happy arvo. We would just use it as a shortening of afternoon. Most common would be “see ya this arvo” which is usually shortened further to “see ya thesarvo” yep or even “see ya sarvo”. I like your laid back style you fit in here in Brissy. Why bother with a whole word right.

I live in the suburb where the real library is located and 1 suburb over from where a lot of the other cartoon landmarks are. The house was duplicated recently in Paddington for a few months and then sold. The church is in Red Hill and Hammer Barn is just over a big hill in Keperra. Its actually a real hardware retail giant named Bunnings. Yes they’re all based on real buildings.

our coffee is very different to America. You should do a video on it. We dont have the filter/drip coffee, we have espresso. It's quite strong compared to American coffee, so that small coffee is probably at least one shot shot or more of espresso which might equate to at a guess 2 cups of filter coffee?

Wow, I was thinking that 52 episodes thing can't be right. But I just checked and it seems it is? There's a lot I haven't seen then. The actors who do the voices for Chili and Bandit were on a Jimmy Fallon show not that long ago. th-cam.com/video/rpq8eHsHvFc/w-d-xo.html
Also, fun fact... Dave McCormack (Bandit) is/was the lead singer in a fairly successful Aussie rock band called Custard. th-cam.com/video/3ii6GyifD4E/w-d-xo.html
