    I just finished watching another TH-camr make the same dress. Hers was wonderful and so is yors.
    I love to see how different people put their own spin on the same pattern and come up with a unique garment.
    Never give up. Every time you sew something you learn something. I've been sewing for 40 years. I'm always learning. It's impossible to know everything.
    I like the fabric. I dont know how it was to work with, but it looks good.

    I like your positive attitude. It happens to all of us, I've been sewing 35 years and from time to time wonder what I was thinking about fabric. 😜. I know it takes a lot to make a video and put yourself out there. I've loved watching to the end. Well done. ❤️👗

      I sorta needed to hear that. So thank you! Sometimes it feels like this only happens to me lol. I’ve yet to complete a project or video that I’m thrilled with but I know this is all new and I know that day is coming. I can’t wait for it and I hope your here for it. ❤️ Drew

      Me too. I would have been that person tossing the garment in a pile of unfinished projects. I think it's an important part of the learning process I had not learned but am working at it every day. For this as well as your project pattern choices, I really am enjoying your channel.

    Even though the dress did not go exactly as you planned with the sleeves the dress still turned out wonderfully made.

      Thank you. Looking back at that project it was doomed from the start when I didn’t care for the fabric, I’m Glad I stuck it out regardless and It’s now a cute house gown that gets worn often. Thanks for watching 😊

      I seen the one I think you are talking about! She did a great job my fabric was way to thin. I wouldn’t mind making it again.

    Thank you so so much for not editing out the part where you did the pleating, etc. even though it didn't make it into the dress. I'm planning on making Sleeve B and I'm going to modify it to be long sleeved, so watching you go through the process was extremely helpful. I gasped when I realized you were going to cut it out!

    • @SewSewDrew
      @SewSewDrew  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It was so hard to cut it! I would love to make this pattern again know what I know now! I definitely would use heavier fabric! Good luck with this one ♥️

      @@SewSewDrew I'm not sure I will sew the dress I have in mind. But if I do, it will be because you gave me an idea after watching you change the sleeves of your dress. I can't find the pattern of the dress I want but may have a blouse pattern that I can simply extend into a skirt...
      You project a wholesome image on your video: a young woman who is not afraid to say she doesn't know something...yet! I see you are determined from the titles on your bookshelf to your collection of patterns. Best wishes to you and your son, Maverick.

Yes I am truly determined, I think I’ve just become aware that Sewing is a lifetime hobby and one that you will never master because there will always be something new to learn and that actually excites me. I look forward to just adding more skills. Thank you for watching and I hope you stick around! 😊

    I'm so glad I found your channel! I'm about to make this pattern so it was super helpful. I really admire your determination to finish this pattern. My heart broke for you when you had to cut off all those beautiful pleats but I think you're right those pleats + collar wouldn't work together. 💚

      Thank you for watching I love your channel! I can’t wait to see what you do with it. My fabric was wayyy to flimsy. I think that was the the 2nd or 3rd dress I ever made. I’m so proud of my progress and the tips I get from our community have helped tremendously 😊

    I think the style of this dress would look great in light denim with a white collar. What a lot of work for 1 dress, but I think it is worth it.

    I think it turned out real nice and very neatly sewn. Good instructions. I saw that sleeve variation pattern and had a chance to buy it on sale but it’s so hot here in Houston, Texas that I didn’t buy it.
    Thanks for the great instructions and I think the print turned out fine too.

      Glad it helped! I sometimes have to reread so many times before I understand what’s being asked of me. Don’t judge this pattern by my experience with it. In hindsight it’s a really good one and I just made poor fabric and alteration decisions. I can’t wait to make this again knowing what I know now. Thank you for watching. ❤️

    Hi Drew!. This was a very valuable tutorial for everyone who has taken the time to watch. The dress came out lovely. Although it was not your original plan, it looks great. As far as the mock up, when you envision an idea such as your sleeves, that is when you do the mock up. It will also serve as a new pattern piece for the altered style. The mock up in that case would have only been 1 front and back piece, the sleeve and 1 collar piece. Also when something like this happens never look at it as a bust or failure! This is a learning opportunity to utilize your creativity. You can find bleached and unbleached muslin or inexpensive cotton or cotton poly by the bolt. Best wishes!

    sorry if already addressed but I have this pattern and was considering it , did you do the sleeve heading in the organdy or taffeta ? I wonder if that would have provided the structure you were hoping for .

    • @SewSewDrew
      @SewSewDrew  ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t do the sleeve heading! It probably would have helped a great deal but my fabric was just so thin and the pattern took away from the design. With the right fabric this can be a beautiful dress

    Is anybody else having issues--from many years ago in Home Ec class--with her cutting the notches INto the seam allowance instead of OUT, or is it just me? (You cannot make alterations if you cut into the seam allowance...)

    • @SewSewDrew
      @SewSewDrew  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are not the only person who notices it. You are however, The only one who has said so in such a way. A few people have kindly informed ME as I am self taught 3 years into my journey that the notch is to be cut out not in. I take most advice/ lessons/ information and apply them. Gratefully. But for some reason when it comes to the notches I prefer to do them this way. And so that’s What I Do. So your “issue” is yours alone. And I do hope it’s the only one you have on this beautiful Sunday ♥️Drew
