I was born in '82 & there is one of these selling close to me. I'm seriously considering pulling the trigger on it. After researching the Norlin era Les Pauls, I must commend your description of what separates these guitars from other eras. Dean DeLeo (one of my all-time favorite players) has championed the oft-maligned Norlins too. He has several. Nice playing too. Your tone mimics Gibbons flawlessly.
@timvanrooy9665 grab it if you can. Best Les Paul's ever and a great future investment in my opinion. Dean Deleo is a master of tone, in my top 3 all time great guitar tones!
I have an 82 SG standard with the side input jack and it has the same oval shaped strat buttons. As soon ad I started playing I knew it was great - the sound was so full and jangly and the same time! Now I’m chasing my dream guitar- late 70’s/early 80’s black Les Paul Custom with maple neck and vault behind the headstock. Gret playing man!
@@scottlaurenceguitarist Hi Scott, it is still for sale. Its currently listed on Reverb.com Please let me know if you are interested. Have a great day.
Have the same year custom les Paul. Nothing is as good now. Have to put the Tim Shaw pickups in all my Gibsons now.
They certainly are special and they seem to age like a fine wine.
Cheers
They sound so good especially the high notes.
I have tried countless boutique vintage and modern Gibson pickups... My 86 prehistoric reissue with the shaws is just the one
Absolutely, they are really tough to beat.

I'm happy to see I'm not the only person to love this era of Les Pauls.
They sound so good especially through Marshall Amps or Fender . My Tremelo is different than yours.

I have an 83 Norlin era LP custom in rare silver with the Tim Shaw PAF's It's become my main guitar. Absolutely love it!!
I love the Norlin era Les Paul's, superb guitars in every way. I struggle to like modern LPs for some reason.

Hi, all Les Paul Customs had the Tim Shaw pickups as standard.
Absolutely incredible pickups in my opinion. Enjoy your Les Paul.
Where’s the gold hardware?
A few were released with chrome hardware.
I have bought 5 used guitars with Shaw pickups in them, the best move I ever made was to replace them.
Good for you. Everyone has different tastes in the end.
Shaws are the Best pickups Gibson ever made imho
