It’s so interesting watching western zero waste living. Coming from an Zimbabwean African. Literally this (or most of it) is how people there live. It’s very sustainable and organic and natural. The west could learn a lot from their ways.
Thats so true! We (the Western World) think we are so sophisticated when in fact it is not a desirable development. I admire how my grandparents and their parents lived. No plastic, being very frugal and minimal...ultimately i think this is where we have to go back to😊 love from germany
You're absolutely right! Even us non rich people over here in the west, or poor people in the west, use up about ten times more energy than people who aren't from the west. Just because using energy for showering, cooking and heating had been so incorporated into our lives! That was so interesting to me.
@@wordsbykathi im in awe of my grandma and how she makes so many things frm scratch, food and using old linen etc. as i have shown interest i think she also is very excited that she gets to share this and hopefully i will learn a lot and be much more independent and have to rely less on buying. we definitely have a thing or two to learn from previous generations, consumerism and accessibility has ruined a lot
We are under constant pressure to consume in the USA. In many white collar jobs you are told you must dress and drive a car like your boss, especially if you want a promotion. Then there are all the commercials that inflict FOMO (fear of missing out). Biggest examples are Black Friday sales. Latest example was the fear buying at the beginning of the pandemic and then just last week they tried again saying people were stocking up again because of a second wave of corona, or because there might be civil unrest due to the elections. After 9-11 Pres. Bush told people it was their patriotic duty to go out and spend. When you work two or three jobs to make ends meet anything "convenient" (AKA wrapped in plastic, bad for the Earth and human health) is what you grab for. Many times to do things the Earth friendly way cost so much more because the bad way is subsided. My grandparents went through the Great Depression and lived much more sustainable, but my parents generation went for the "easier" way of life and lost the knowledge and without knowledge you are then forced to depend on that "easy" solution, and are enslaved by the ignorance. Many of the younger generation are trying to learn how to do things better and are even willing to pay a premium price to buy organic or zero waste products. Even after that our litigious society hinders you. Can't let you use your own container to put the deli meat in at a grocery store because if you didn't clean it out properly and you get sick from eating the meat out of it you might sue the grocery store saying it was the meat that was bad and not your washing. I am thankful to those that come from societies like your that share the knowledge of more suitable crops to grow , as well as different habits to create to live better for all concerned.
@@FairylandCottage Yeaa it makes all the plants look so green and fresh and creates the special Ireland flair 💚 I visited Ireland 4 years ago and I was flashed by its beauty. It's great that Germany is not far away so we can also come by car or train, which is much more sustainable 💚
Simple Joys couldn’t agree more never tire of anything irish. I think this is universal thing. You will find the people are what make the place special
Watching you go about your hygiene routine outside was inspiring. You made me think of early century agrarian villagers who probably sat out in wooded areas and did the same thing. I appreciate your seriousness about truly living minimally and in harmony with nature. A real genuine person who really achieves what they set out to do! You inspire me to live the same way.
@@FairylandCottage thank you for this vdio i know how hard it is for u guys to go outside for washing n cleaning in the stream as you all are not used to it...but it has been our life ...i remember one time an intern from uk came to india in our hospital... she was devastated when she entered the bathroom to find no shower head no hot water no running water ...she called me n i had to explain her how to mix hot water n cold water in a bucket n pour water with jug ....when i turned around to say ok ....she was in tears ...later we had to postpone her bath there n send her to a doctors house quite far away for shower (luxurious bath we used to call it but was necessity for her) ...back then with no internet around it was talk of the hospital but now i realise how helpless she must have felt. sorry for the random comment 🤪 just felt like sharing....we are learning new things everyday .
@@aratibhattarai6856 Firstly, I just realized your name is amazing. Secondly, OMG I can totally relate with people beeing totally helpless when visiting my country (specially foreign docs) because in the first 3 hours of the day they already saved stabbed, shot or domestic injured people. It's too much for most of them. Our hospitals. Are just for emergency purposes, for routine purposes we have other facilities, so sometime a foreigners gets a day in emergency while expecting common ambulatory work!
Winter in Australia is a joke for us here in Switzerland. I also do not like cold showers, unless we have odds summer days at about 28C or slightly over. But we have good rain here, no water shortages at all. Most of us shower for short periods of time. Kind greetings from Zurich.
@@jot_scribble its the northern hemisphere.. australia is in the southern.. so , they are opposites, we have just entered winter, they have just entered summer :D
This is such GOALS! It really is a journey, not the destination. Zero Waste is not as big in the USA (where I'm from) as it is France (where I live now). Living in France has opened my eyes to a new way of living - especially in terms of slow living, eating and living more naturally, and a deeper connection to the Earth. Your films always bring me this same sense of peace and calm @Fairylandcottage. I always look forward to your Sunday film :) If you’re curious, last week I created a peaceful video of the forest in the Alsatian countryside where I live in France. Also, your sweet new Robin bird friend you posted about on Instagram is so cute!!
@@kerryirving2949 Hi Kerry! Yeah, I have a youtube channel. I make films on slow living and life in France. Anyone can subscribe if they feel naturally called to :)
@@FairylandCottage oh wow, thank you! And yes, even when there is a lot of heaviness going on in the world, connecting with nature brings so peace and appreciation. On the hardest of days, nature rebalances me. I'm such a fan of the work you create and share
I am in the process of getting rid of a third of my household and personal possessions. I don't need so much stuff and others seem to need and enjoy them. Now I can easily close my drawers😘
Like you, I have been working on minimalism. I started over a year ago. And, I have enjoyed not only having less things but not spending as much time needing to clean. It's a wonderful experience that I would encourage others to consider.
@@mrodriguez7135 I agree, Magda! The items that were supposed to make our life easier and give us more free time actually sometimes do just the opposite. We spend too much of our time and money taking care of them instead of ourselves! I think of all the batteries, special cleaners, filters etc. we have to buy AFTER we purchase an item to maintain it. When my second Keurig coffee maker died last month,, I got rid of it and gave the temaining coffee pods to a friend. Make my coffee in a pot and have lots more room on my kitchen counter! No mess, no filters to replace every 3 months etc. And better coffee!
I gave up deodarant 20 years ago after getting breast cancer, do not miss it. I really enjoy your videos as does my daughter, so thank you for making them.
Such a lovely way to start the day! I also pull down my bedding and let the bed air out for at least 20 minutes before making the bed. I use beeswax paper and cotton covers in lieu of plastic wrap. I also use bar soap instead of using liquid soap in plastic containers. I use Mason jars and glass jars to store items in the fridge. Simple things, but it feels good.
I'm sorry this is a late comment but I just discovered this beautiful channel. I make my own soaps, but to be honest you don't really need it. Unless you have a really dirty face, a bit of water and a gentle face cloth/a lovely natural sponge will suffice. I only use soap if I've had a really busy day or I've been wearing makeup, which I sort of gave up a few years ago. I am really enjoying watching your videos. I too live in a wooded area in Canada but we don't have the same flora and fauna that you have in Ireland. I'm so looking forward to watching more and catching up with Fairyland Cottage.
What a paradise... living simple, with no waste is the minimum act of respect for such Joy. And I agree with some milenar philosophies that say that we must start by changing 3 essencial aspects of our lives: feeding, phisical activity and sleeping. Gratitude! Have a Nice week.
Very true living in the country is definitely more conducive to eco friendly living but if you live in the city you just do the best you can and be kind with yourself. 😊
I'd say there are a few advantages living in a city, like no need to take your car because you can always take a bike or the bus since everuthing is kind of close to where you live. Besides (at least in France) there are easily accessible bulk shops or package-free shops and farmers markets in the cities. But I'd love to live in the country, that's for sure ^^
Starting my morning with your video. I have been turning off the news recently and turning on peaceful videos such as this. I spent so much time in my life collecting things, furniture and possessions and “stuff” and now I’m happy to start minimizing my things and surroundings in order to achieve a simpler, more peaceful life. Keep inspiring, dear. I look forward to following you.
That was a truly inspirational video. The longer I travel on this journey the less I need and the happier I become. I could give up a lot more, my books, my piano and music, my weaving and spinning but these activities add a richness to my life and I love doing them. Thank you for these delightful posts every week it is so lovely to see other people on the same journey
Today a famous Indian actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide at a very young age (only 34).... I was just shattered and shocked after knowing this....He was suffering from severe depression....Not only he was in his acting career but he was a mechanical engineer also...Got 3rd rank in a national entrance examination and many more awards in physics.....This heartbreaking news have left a message to our country that mental health is way more important than your physical health.....Money and success don't give u happiness 😑😑😑😑 ..... I was so disturbed......And then comes your video..... It's like a fresh air to me.....Thanks for sharing your sustainable idea of living....U teach us how to keep ourselves mentally healthy.....Keep sharing your love and great teachings....Thank u so much....☺
Wow that is so young and tragic. It is so true. We have nothing if we don’t have our mental health. I amount of money and power can ever buy happiness. Once you know that you can’t be caught in the web.
Lovely to watch, I am in bed battling eye shingles and covid 19 right now and I cant go out into the garden as i have to stay away from my family, so this was just what i needed x
This was a lovely video. Very calming. In the past few years we have regrowing many of our vegetable scraps or making soups with them and composting. We save our dish water in a tub to water our outdoor plants and we also save some rain water. We mow high to preserve the moisture in the grass. We flush the toilet only when needed and only bath every other day saving the bath water. We’re trying to use less packaging though we are finding that very difficult in our area. Baby steps but I’m loving getting ideas from you. Thank you so much. 🦋
I was reassured to realise that I’ve been living many of your suggestions all my life! I always strip my bed back every morning and open the window to cool and air the bedding. This discourages dust mites and allergies. Then I make the bed in the afternoon. I’ve been using the bathroom washbasin for my daily wash since teenage years. It saves so much water and time! Keep up your wonderful work Niamh! Your message needs to be spread far and wide over our wasteful planet.
Hi Niamh! Your videos are one of my favorite parts of the weekend. Routines are one of my favorite types of videos too, so that was an added bonus. I got a birdfeeder two Christmases ago and found another at a thrift shop, so I love going out and feeding the birds in the morning. Do you have pine trees in Ireland? A good minimal-waste treat for the birds/little critters is slathering a pinecone in peanutbutter and then tossing it in birdseed. I've found the woodpeckers especially enjoy it. :-) I cannot believe how lucky you are to live where you do. Forest, field and beach all nearby!! Living the dream location. Blessings to you online-friend! :)
Ah thanks Diane! Really means a lot to have your loyal support. I love the bird food idea. I’m definitely going to try that. Have a magical week with the wildlife x
Paper plates were a big thing growing up, I stopped using those and paper towels years ago. Altho I wish the stores here...in the states...would go back to paper bags, I do try and remember to take my cloth bags in with me, but I can't tell ya how many times I'm about to check out and think....crap my bags are in the car. I'm with you about a cold shower, but, I've always wanted an outdoors shower, most likely with a warm water choice. Loved going on your walk this time.
ah!! The scenery is beautiful and the routine so simple but restful and although it is simple it is still complete . I loved how you hung your sponge and toothbrush on the tree .....I LOVE trees and that made me smile a huge smile......thank you!!!
I am not particularly zero waste 😅 but .. I usually wake up at 5 : 30 am in the morning .. I need 6 hrs of sleep a day to keep me fresh through out. After waking up , I walk in my garden just to see the flowers bloom... Then I brush , wash my face , and do yoga for like 10 - 15 minutes... I have myopia so I have to take some vitamins for that and I have to do too many eye exersices in early morning.. Then I sit to study at 6: 15 am and I go on until 8 :30 am... Then I have to have a cup of tea , then my breakfast and again I sit to study 😂 at like 9 am to like 12 pm ..... My whole morning is literally focused on my study in this lockdown time because I have so much time to get everything done ! 😂😁
Thank you for that. I like how you have memorable points on your morning walk - like the rock you have to step up to for the view. One of the things I learnt a few years ago was that it's important to make extra time in the morning for ritual and slow partaking of breakfast - even if you have a deadline for a train or bus, allow yourself the time. Getting the morning time right often depends on getting it right the night before. Evening then morning!
I live out in the country on a secluded piece of property Away from prying eyes.My favorite things to do in the summer is brushing my teeth and bathing outside. It brings back memories of my siblings and I bathing in the stream next to our childhood home.Plus it connects you to nature in a serene way.
People if at all you want to reduce your ecological FOOTPRINT, try to live the rural way. An average Indian village woman is the most successful person when it comes to sustainable lifestyle. Best wishes to everyone.
An Indian rural woman uses less resources than an American rural woman who has electric appliances, a TV and computer in every house, air conditioning that they use excessively, and they don't stay in the village but drive 10-60 miles several times a week, and fly to their relatives' house once or twice a year, and buy unncecessary food that has traveled thousands of miles and has excessive packaging. it's possible to live as Fairyland Cottage does, or have your own farm or work on a nearby farm, but inevitably many people don't. Instead they live a suburban consumer lifestyle in a rural area. That's worse than if they just lived in the suburbs. If we're going to feed millions of people, all with a civilized level of electric conveniences, and access to periodic medical services, then we need to recognize the environmental efficiency of having many of them live in cities and towns, at a denser level than a typical suburban house. People in cities use less land per person, have shorter utility cables and pipes, can walk to more of their everyday needs (if the city is designed well), don't have to use wood/kerosene stoves, use shared parks instead of large yards, etc. I've asked Fairyland Cottage how far she drives to the bulk food store, how many times a week she drives for other things, etc. That could possibly negate some of the sustainability benefits of living in a lower-density area. A big yard with your own vegetables and compost is a good thing, but what good things are you trading to get that?
@@sluggo206 I am sure you know the difference between living the rural way and living in a village itself. 1. Cook own food in place of eating out. 2. Buy less. 3. No canned, packed, preserved food. 4.Observe occasional fasting. 5.Daily puja (meditation, gratitude and focuss) ritual. 6.Daily get together for social bonding and improved sense of belongingness. 7.Least use of gadgets. 8.Spending time with family and nature while doing household chores. 9.Walk to local market. These are few Indian rural ways I find healthy and feasible with a little effort even in cities.
@@FairylandCottage i am so thankful to you for being pro environment ....as i too try to be minimalist not zero and feel like never will be as i have limitimg health condition... noone can be perfect but atleast some are contributing ....some jst pass comments
@@meenakshiprakash5177 I agree with all those, and thanks for the list. Latin America villages are similar. My concern is, I live in the US where many people say cities are bad and everybody should live in rural areas or suburbs/exurbs/towns and we should decentralize everything. And we have laws preventing cities from being as dense and walkable as Boston or Paris. They believe this is more sustainable, but it doesn't scale to hundreds of millions of people. All that land and per-capita resource use add up. Plus, most people would not follow your list: they would bring their high-consumption lifestyle to the village.
We have been more mindful of what we buy and reuse lately but I agree with you that sometimes you can only do what you can and have to work with your limitations and not feel guilty. We have a pool and enjoy staying home instead of travelling in a car to the beach etc but I have to buy chemicals for the pool and they are not zero waste, I buy some bottled items and I don't need thousands of bottles sitting empty in the cupboard I try to use some but not all. Our local bulk store is closed because of covid 19 so we have no choice right now but to buy packages. I saw a documentary on how recycling items end up in landfills in other countries so I'm worried about how my items end up in the Philippines from Canada.Love the videos. stay safe.
Same here no zero waste cause of Covid. It’s always important to keep the big picture in mind. My husband went out to the diy store the other day and came back with loads of plastic! Recycling I know is terrible. Most just gets thrown on landfill. We all just do our best in a world that isn’t built for sustainability.
Inspiring as always Niamh, thank you. I've really reduced all my bathroom products down to simple essentials, and it's all I need. It feels quite liberating! Like you, I always air my bed, and then start my day out in the garden with my dogs for some fresh air before breakfast. I've been enjoying a much slower pace of life during lockdown here in Scotland, so I'm hoping I can keep to it once things start to get back to 'normal'.
I look forward to "TH-cam Sunday" every week with your lovely videos. One practice I've adopted from Ayurveda is abhiyanga, the practice of self oiling. Living in western Canada, this is a lovely way to protect your skin without all the added scents and preservatives in commercial moisturizers. I use sweet almond or avocado oil but will look into more locally grown oils when my current supply runs out. Have a great week!
My favourite yet I don’t do it enough! My mum thought me cause her Ayurvedic doctor told her to do daily. Did you know you can also do the nasal oil pulling ( it sure of the correct name ) suppose to be amazing!
Thank you for the tips...I will rethink some of my routines. I like package free. The wild flowers are beautiful, especially the foxglove ...just lovely. That sweet little bee agrees.. 😊🐝.
SOOOO PEACEFUL!! Beautiful start to a lovely day! :) Thanks for sharing! :) I returned a noisy "green" mower and weed cutter for a SCYTHE from New Scythe Revolution! :) No more charging batteries, or messing with gas and oil - if you have a regular mower. SO EXCITED!! :) Also, using candles at night vs electric...love that gorgeous golden glow! :) Thank you for always inspiring me!! Your friend in Pennsylvania - Gina Louise :) xo
Ah hi Gina Louise! Thanks so much!! I love that! We got one recently and it didn’t mow the lawn and we learnt that it doesn’t like going on a slope!! Haha! Happy mowing though and thanks for your valuable view!
@@FairylandCottage Hi Dear! :) Sounds like you might need a ditch blade (?)...I'm still learning! :) And also found out that they cut better with dew on the grass...so early morning seems like best time. When you think back to our grandparents time life was very ideal. Lots of fresh water wells, less harmful chemicals, nearly everyone grew most of their own food. Animals were treated with respect. There was no plastic! For years I fooled myself thinking all the plastic was recycled... Most of it isn't. Change is good and less is more. Thank you Niamh
I loved this. You are so different. I buy unpackaged soap at the health food store. I don’t eat animals and all my baking is from scratch. Gotta love the sourdough bread. I try to buy in bulk, but it isn’t always possible. I used to get big bags of dry beans at Costco, but now they are hard to get. Everyone has gone Covid crazy and are hoarding them in case the world runs out of food. I find that so strange. So now I’m stuck buying the small bags mostly. I hate all the plastic that comes with it. Have a great week, my friend. You are a beautiful person.
Thanks Mary for the kind message. Covid madness has changed so many things. We couldn’t get unpackaged produce for ages because of regulations. You can only do your best in the situation you’re given. Not contributing in factory meat farming is the main thing to do but hard for most.
Wonderful so great you live so close to stream we live 40 mins away from clean water which we collect and has helped so much with our health . It’s great also To see you taking on board new suggestions. I am so inspired by the way you live especially the garden . It’s amazing that Ireland is so charming inspite of being a little chilly like England where we live.
Thank you for sharing. I've started using more natural products. Downsizing to the minimum. Since watching your video and others, my focus has change, I realize I need less stuff to live. Now if I can just master bread making I'll be alright.
My mother and grandmother teaches me the same just a filled up sink for washing the whole body with a cloth, every morning ritual, well I am not doing that prefer shower but it reminds me of the time when I visit my grandmother at the baltic sea, the smell of her soap, the warm flat were we could watch the deers from the kitchen, the nice promenade at the sea. And now I do not have any money to go there anymore, my grandmother long ago dead and the buildings made into Vacation homes!
We had a "washroom" growing up as it was a normal thing out in the country (as were outhouses). Still prefer good ole' bar of soap over other choices. We sometimes washed hair with water hose; quick and easy. Can never take for granted that simplicity. Thanks for showing that beautiful land/waterscape. D.
You always make the simplest foods look delectable.

Once again, a beautiful video! I was just so surprised it finished so quickly! I also don't make my bed 1st thing in the morning, but I still like to have it done. I'm also in process of using tea instead of coffee and using what grows in our garden as much as possible, instead of going often to the store. At the moment I still have some products to use, but I plan to make my own when they are over. I'm still looking for a good natural sun protection to apply to my babies's skin and also anti-ticks and anti-mosquitos
Oooo I like the scrubber that holds the soap inside ❤️ Your videos are so peaceful and remind me to stay connected with nature 🥰 Thank you for sharing ☺️
the ideal life! a huge believer in reducing waste and being more sustainable! I wish there were more ways to get people to care about this stuff but I guess we can do our part! Thank you for making these videos - they inspire!
A bulk goods shop opened near me last year! A machine to grind your own nut butters, loads of dried goods and even refill stations for cleaning and bathroom products! They let you bring your own containers too! This has reduced my waste so much!
Yeahhhhhhh at last not making a bed in the morning, just pulling the duvet back thank you so much, my Mum years ago used to tell me off for not 'making' my bed, I did used to straighten it but let it air, a few years ago she mentioned this when not making her bed! It is more hygienic especially when the bedroom window is left open, the bed and room is aired:-)
I grow up in a rural communities with my grandparents. They didn’t buy anything from cooking dishes to making oil everything’s they used to do it on they’re own hands.❤️
I go the extra mile, throw open the windows and toss the quilt and pillows out to hang and air. I learnt to do this 50 years ago when I lived in The Netherlands.
I like airing the bed and bedroom for at least 30 minutes. Love were you live, its beatiful! 💚💚 I completely agrre with you on your thoughts on zero waste and your relationship with the the environment. Hygiene depends on so many things. Living in the country isn't like living in the city with all the pollution. But on the other hand in these days we go a bit overboard with what's needed showering and washing. Love your videos. Thank you 💚💚
One idea to integrate into your meditation: take a classical guitar and explore notes. play a note or chord and sing the note along, just like in chanting. I don't meditate, but i can call the time spent playing guitar - meditation.
What a beautiful post... does my heart good.... but I look forward to my warm shower in the morning... I work really hard and that is my treat....I would not be happy without it....I know my aging body appreciates it.... But you have this sense of balance, from the moment you hang the lantern to the stream water flowing.... very beautiful.... thank you....
Warm water with lemon juice is my first thing in the morning. Then I do 15 mins on my rebounder. I like to do my walk in the afternoon. I have a normal shower but end it with 30secs of cold water. Takes my breath away every time but feel amazing afterwards. Then I feed the birds in my bird feeder too 🤗❤️
Just what the doctor ordered after a frustrating day "at" work, got my Zen on now :) I've recently ordered some metal straws and found a stash of spare fabric at the back of the wardrobe and I've made some beeswax wraps and my partner was surprisingly excited about this. He's texted me on his lunch like "Omg the thing you wrapped my sarnie in is so cool!" (He's a key worker) so it's nice that I've eliminated that particular need for cling film. Now onto seeing if it can contain fruit juice run off without a HUGE sticky explosion... :s (berries often don't make the trip to work, it's a problem...)
Thank you yet again for yr lovely soothing video. As always such calm in a troubled world. How anyone could give what u put out a thumbs down is tragic. You carry on darling. Blessed b Carole
Such a pleasure to watch. Beautifully filmed, calming, and thoughtful. I always love spending some quality internet time with fellow simplists. Thank you for sharing.
Another beautiful video. This has encouraged me and challenged me to push myself farther in the no-waste life. A few things I do are to make all the bread and cook almost everything from scratch for my family, make homemade pet food for my 2 cats and 1 dog (I supplement this with their regular canned food, but every little bit helps) and I've also found homeschooling my children cuts way back on paper, as when they were in public school they'd come home with massive amounts of paper and waste. Now they do all their studies online and we have very little waste. I just want to address the comments about living in the country being better and more waste-free. I want to encourage those of us who are unable to do this. Where I live, living in the country is not possible unless you are rich or want to carry loads of debt. I live in the prairies in Canada. Acerages and small farms even go for hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions. My family and I live in a small, simple home in the city, with a pottager garden, a butterfly garden, and a small orchard. We've chosen to not fix our home up to the latest and greatest Pinterest fashion either, to embrace our home for what it is instead of throwing everything out and paying for home renovations. We also drive older vehciles that are good on gas to help the envirnmonet. For those of us who cannot live in the country, it is possible to still make a huge difference to the planet and all the inhabitants that live here. Blessings everyone, have a wonderful day
wow that is so different in Ireland! the countryside is way cheaper than the city. Amazing how countries can be so different. Thanks for your encouragement and advice for everyone here :-)
@@FairylandCottage I wish it weren't this way here =( My husband is an accountant and makes a good wage, but we'd be in loads of debt if we decided to move to the country. My toes were curling up in protest when you washed outside, it's Winter here and our mornings generally start with a frost 🤣 However I do what i can - buy the majority of my food package free, keep a well stocked garden and as a Pagan, living by the seasons is a natural part of my spiritual journey. I eat a lot different than you as I’m a carnivore but I very much enjoy a minimalist lifestyle with as reduced amount of packaging as possible. Which is hard here in the US. But I live in a beautiful valley in the mountains and enjoy the outdoors so much. Great videos, I just wish you uploaded more often. Lol.
So happy to come across Fairytale cottage by chance, thank you ! The nature and plants are very similar to where I live on Vancouver Island in Canada.....beautiful! Have always wanted to visit Ireland :-)
Ah I once visited Vancouver Island. I lived in Vancouver beside Stanley park and just loved the beauty everywhere. We did a trip to VI and loved every minute.... you are living in such a special place.
Wonderful as always.♥️ This is the way to live for yourself and the planet. Our seeking of more, more, more, is a perpetual chase for things we don’t need and that won’t truly nourish us. thank you so much, your videos are medicine to me.♥️
Exposing our bodies to the cold, while uncomfortable at first, can really help our immune system. While traveling in Europe, I often had only cold water to use. I felt refreshed and got sick less. Win Hof is working on research that substantiates exposure to cold for health.

The nature in Ireland is sooo beautiful 😍
It really is! It’s all the rain!
ah yes
@@FairylandCottage Yeaa it makes all the plants look so green and fresh and creates the special Ireland flair 💚 I visited Ireland 4 years ago and I was flashed by its beauty. It's great that Germany is not far away so we can also come by car or train, which is much more sustainable 💚
Simple Joys couldn’t agree more never tire of anything irish. I think this is universal thing. You will find the people are what make the place special
@@sophietopham8822 oh I love that, Sophie
Watching you go about your hygiene routine outside was inspiring. You made me think of early century agrarian villagers who probably sat out in wooded areas and did the same thing. I appreciate your seriousness about truly living minimally and in harmony with nature. A real genuine person who really achieves what they set out to do! You inspire me to live the same way.
Ah thanks for saying. Yes it got me thinking of people who would wash in a stream. We have gone so far from that natural way of living.

We are doing the same here, we have too much stuff, it not only clusters up the house but I feel like I can breathe better!
Nothing like the joy of being able to close drawers with no effort! 🥰
I really enjoy your videos as does my

Living in the country is really helpful to be more eco-friendly. In big cities it's a little bit harder I think.
Very motivating video😍
Very true living in the country is definitely more conducive to eco friendly living but if you live in the city you just do the best you can and be kind with yourself. 😊
@@FairylandCottage exactly!

Poor poor you, that must be very painful. Hope you heal very soon 💗
I absolutely love how you can walk into nature. I have to drive about 20 to 25 minutes before I can reach any kind of natural forests.
Ah thanks Celia, sure you could probably teach me!!

I love taking a couple bottles of water to my private patio and "showering" and bruising my teeth out there. There's nothing more refreshing.
Your videos are so peaceful. Thanks for them.

I agree I think good night routine followed by good morning routine sets precedent for the rest of the day
So true. Having time in the morning is so special and yet it all starts the night before.

People if at all you want to reduce your ecological FOOTPRINT, try to live the rural way. An average Indian village woman is the most successful person when it comes to sustainable lifestyle. Best wishes to everyone.
So so true! They know what we are all trying to learn. X
I'm happier and healthier when I see your video. Thank you sister Niamh.

Isn’t it so liberating Jacqui!

Can not give up the warm shower in the morning:)

One idea to integrate into your meditation: take a classical guitar and explore notes. play a note or chord and sing the note along, just like in chanting. I don't meditate, but i can call the time spent playing guitar - meditation.
Thank you for this comment🙏🏽I should really get back to playing the guitar and do the same with the piano as a way of meditation.

What a beautiful post... does my heart good.... but I look forward to my warm shower in the morning... I work really hard and that is my treat....I would not be happy without it....I know my aging body appreciates it.... But you have this sense of balance, from the moment you hang the lantern to the stream water flowing.... very beautiful.... thank you....
can't wait for your next video..my dream is living like you🌷
Warm water with lemon juice is my first thing in the morning. Then I do 15 mins on my rebounder. I like to do my walk in the afternoon. I have a normal shower but end it with 30secs of cold water. Takes my breath away every time but feel amazing afterwards. Then I feed the birds in my bird feeder too 🤗❤️
good on you! my hubby does that too! I don't know how you do it!
Just what the doctor ordered after a frustrating day "at" work, got my Zen on now :)
I've recently ordered some metal straws and found a stash of spare fabric at the back of the wardrobe and I've made some beeswax wraps and my partner was surprisingly excited about this.
Haha you may have a sticky berry explosion but I hope not! Well done with the wax wraps. My hubby loves them too. Thinks they’re so clever!
Thank you yet again for yr lovely soothing video. As always such calm in a troubled world. How anyone could give what u put out a thumbs down is tragic. You carry on darling. Blessed b Carole
Carole Wall lovely words Carole. Thank you.
Such a pleasure to watch. Beautifully filmed, calming, and thoughtful. I always love spending some quality internet time with fellow simplists. Thank you for sharing.
Ah thanks! your words are very kind and thoughtful x
Thank you for sharing! Love the natural very beautiful and peaceful. ❤️❤️❤️
Glad you enjoyed it! x
I work with a nurse who has been looking for a modest country home for several years now. She said you either find scary dumps that she'd be afraid to live in or million dollar properties. Thankfully, Iwe live in a small, rural town and there are loads of beautiful walking paths along the creek with nature everywhere. It's the next best thing =)
I appreciate your videos and they are inspiring me to stop racing to achieve my unattainable list of things to do in a day and slow down! THX!
This is the first video of yours I've seen and I heard the accent and was looking at fields trying to recognise what county you're in ha! I grew up in the Wicklow mountains and it's so gorgeous, we're so lucky to have such gorgeous countryside ❤ living in Dublin city now and doing the best I can to be sustainable in a flat!
I've just come across your channel (via your homemade bento bag). You are inspiring and have given me so many more ideas as to how we can reduce our waste and footprint.
My toes were curling up in protest when you washed outside, it's Winter here and our mornings generally start with a frost 🤣
However I do what i can - buy the majority of my food package free, keep a well stocked garden and as a Pagan, living by the seasons is a natural part of my spiritual journey.
I've been finding joy in picking up some simple cottage crafts - potpourri and pomanders were made this weekend, it was a lovely relaxing way to while away a few hours.
I fast in the morning till noon. So I start my day with a warm drink, usually coffee. Lol.
Must be wonderful to live in the mountains. I lived in the Alps for a year and the air and water was extra special!
i always look forward to your videos!
This year I started making all the cleaning products by myself. Just water, vinegar, bicarbonate and natural soap 🥰
Great job!
Beautiful natural serene video.
The mint you use in your tea is called is black pepper mint 😊
Beautiful video , I agree it's about owning less .
Can’t have enough from your videos
Plz upload more because I just love your videos
Wonderful as always.♥️ This is the way to live for yourself and the planet. Our seeking of more, more, more, is a perpetual chase for things we don’t need and that won’t truly nourish us. thank you so much, your videos are medicine to me.♥️
Exposing our bodies to the cold, while uncomfortable at first, can really help our immune system. While traveling in Europe, I often had only cold water to use. I felt refreshed and got sick less. Win Hof is working on research that substantiates exposure to cold for health.
Hi :) where did you find your natural sponge for shower ? In france I didn't find one like yours 😅
