Hi Jimmy, I took IELTs about 4-5 days ago via a computer test at British Council. As a worker with an undergraduate and postgraduate degree, there was an urgent need to refresh on my IELTs skills.
I took the test again coz I'd be having a professional exam. My general feeling is my overall English proficiency has declined. I felt even for Reading, the science articles which I know are mostly from Guardian/BBC were challenging even I had not read those for at least four years. This explained why I brushed up on Reading, in particular, by looking up on those articles two weeks before the test.
The topics for Writing were standard but I felt I underachieved. I did prepare for various charts, maps and graphs.
As to Speaking, well, the examiner constantly stopped me when I was elaborating the answers. I felt my answers were accurate but as you said, the 1 min sharing was perhaps too challenging as I did not have enough content to support my performance.
