Now this is an idea I can get behind; that seems like a proper and fitting job for James, that and I feel he would take pride in such a job if it were to be a realistic situation. 🤔 Great idea my man!

I personally don't see percy taking down aircraft more if an behind the scenes guy, transporting food for the troops, and delivering amo and shutting flatbeds that have jeeps on them, and maybe small railguns. But this is one dope custom my dude, I like how you did something different with him instead of just giving him guns.

They would have like black masks and would run back too back like in the deputation. In between them they would have 1 or 2 trucks with and one would have a gun similar to percy’s and the other sight some ammo and other supplies. Those are just my thoughts though.

Personally I have to agree that bullet holes on Percy would be more than out of place, but the freaking BEYOND TROUBLESOME TRUCK is a definite win. Love that you militarized the consist instead of the engine, I feel that definitely suits Percy well. Again, outstanding job! (also James is my favorite character too)

I also think that James could maybe have a train canon and be very black and dirty as it could be a call back to the original books, and be ironic as James is always so proud of his red paint. I would suggest putting a couple of bullet holes in him, but James probably wouldn't want to have filthy guns on him. So make sure to Miller tries the coaches, but still put bullet holes in James.
Having the militarized Percy being a three-piece set reminds me of the Trackmaster and TOMY packs I loved to gaze at as a kid in Target and Walmart!!! Yes, the truck (with stubble on it's face is the best detail because no rolling stock in the series have any facial hair or features of any kind) does look a bit weak for the gun, we should be reminded that wooden-plank trucks have been used to transport large stones and slate slabs in the series and chances are both the stone cargo and the AA gun are near the same weight limit.

I think in Victor Tanzig’s the story of war, he had Oliver and Toad be a “tapper” engine, like radio Tapping. So maybe you could have Oliver be a Radio Operatic and Toad have an antenna sticking out of him.

I'm gonna be honest - this series is really cool. I'm not a massive fan of Thomas (as I got older, my interest in the series naturally diminished), but as I'm slowly getting more interested in the railway modelling scene (for about the past year), I stumbled upon channels like this one, and I guess a sense of nostalgia has made me more interested in these than, say, custom models that are more realistic. Plus a more outlandish concept like "arming the characters of your childhood, especially trains, with realistic WWII weaponry" means that these are kind of entertaining from my perspective. Plus, when I was a kid, Percy was my favourite character, so to see him weathered like this is pretty neat. (Had I a spare Bachmann Percy [which I don't have, and don't really plan on getting], a spare [wooden railway I think?] Percy toy to strip the face from, and the tools to tear the mechanised face from the model and apply a new one, and then weather the body, I would try doing this!) I also really like the weathering on the van, as just giving it a bit of a slight touch up with weathering powder has done wonders. The weaponized troublesome truck looks ridiculous (in a good way, it may be unrealistic but the contrast works wonders) and the weathering powder on the face gives him almost stubble (which would make sense, being a weapon of aircraft destruction and a lot more militarized than the locomotive pulling him). TL;DR - I don't like Thomas that much any more, but seeing childhood characters reimagined in this way is still interesting and well-done (and honestly has made me a little bit more interested in the series)!
Henry is either an armored military base on rails, or a supply train. Supply train is pretty obvious since he has amazing pulling power, but a mobile military base seems to fit nicely. Henry can stay a small distance from the very front of the front lines. If it looks like things are going pear shaped, Henry can get out of dodge under cover of friendly fire with VIPs on board. I imagine his medical facilities would be slightly “nicer” than whatever medic train you make, but Henry’s true strengths will be if he carries AA and artillery with him on his train, along with basic perimeter equipment.
A stupid idea, but I could honestly see Diesel 10 in a WWII aesthetic. Considering Diesel 10 himself is a darker color and dirtied down, it just seems fitting. Of course that claw would come in handy to clear away obstacles (rubble, destroyed vehicles, dead bodies), but it could also be used to dig trenches or build barriers. I'd say go a step further and have the claw itself be detachable to add other attachments such as a winch system or even a post hole digger. There could even be a hatch on the roof for a machine gun. Of course all this requires building the model from scratch, which I'm not sure is something you'd really want to do. A few years back I built a OO Diesel 10 for the TH-camr Captain Rolls and spent a lot of time just building the claw assembly itself. Love your work, keep railroading!
Absolutley love these concepts! As for James I feel like he of course would contribute in the war but being vain still wants his red paint as intact as possible so maybe for him have him be a long distant sniper or maybe even go the opposite and have him painted black and go in for covert missions and such.
Interesting concept, very nice weathering. If you wanna have some reference for your next model I might suggest James. Whilst we know that James is a L&YR Class 28-ish with an extra set of driving wheels, quite a lot of his immediate predecessors the Class 27s saw active service on the Western Front during WW1. Many of the Class 27s were rebuilt into Class 28s so I guess you could paint James in ROD colours? For Sudrian engines in relation to war service, Thomas and Edward have served on the home front during WW1, shunting munitions and pulling troop trains during the Great War. James' siblings and predecessors have served in France and Belgium during WW1, Toby has definitely seen quite a lot of Y14s going overseas back on the GER as well as shunting at a harbour in 1914 and Duck has 100% witnessed the German Blitz on London during WW2 as a station pilot at Paddington.
Fantastic artistry! And I can't wait to see more of these customs in the roster. Here's my suggestion if you include Donald and Douglas in the roster, make them have injuries to their faces as well. The twins would both have one black eye to homage "The Spiteful Brakevan". They would definitely participate going to the frontlines for their personalities in my opinion. Nevertheless, keep on doing what you do best!

Of course that claw would come in handy to clear away obstacles (rubble, destroyed vehicles, dead bodies), but it could also be used to dig trenches or build barriers. I'd say go a step further and have the claw itself be detachable to add other attachments such as a winch system or even a post hole digger. There could even be a hatch on the roof for a machine gun. Of course all this requires building the model from scratch, which I'm not sure is something you'd really want to do. A few years back I built a OO Diesel 10 for the TH-camr Captain Rolls and spent a lot of time just building the claw assembly itself. Love your work, keep railroading!

The reality is that some of these characters were in the war as the show takes place around the 40s and 50s.
Absolutley love these concepts! As for James I feel like he of course would contribute in the war but being vain still wants his red paint as intact as possible so maybe for him have him be a long distant sniper or maybe even go the opposite and have him painted black and go in for covert missions and such.

Interesting concept, very nice weathering. If you wanna have some reference for your next model I might suggest James. Whilst we know that James is a L&YR Class 28-ish with an extra set of driving wheels, quite a lot of his immediate predecessors the Class 27s saw active service on the Western Front during WW1. Many of the Class 27s were rebuilt into Class 28s so I guess you could paint James in ROD colours?
For Sudrian engines in relation to war service, Thomas and Edward have served on the home front during WW1, shunting munitions and pulling troop trains during the Great War. James' siblings and predecessors have served in France and Belgium during WW1, Toby has definitely seen quite a lot of Y14s going overseas back on the GER as well as shunting at a harbour in 1914 and Duck has 100% witnessed the German Blitz on London during WW2 as a station pilot at Paddington.

Here's my suggestion if you include Donald and Douglas in the roster, make them have injuries to their faces as well.
The twins would both have one black eye to homage "The Spiteful Brakevan". They would definitely participate going to the frontlines for their personalities in my opinion.
