This is still a favorite of mine and always will be. It hurts so much to listen to because of how morbid it truly is when you think about it, but that’s what makes it beautiful. Always love how much emotion Courtney pours into her music. Especially the way she yells.
This is the best song on this record as far as I'm concerned. The most common interpretation of it as that it's about a prostitute's botched abortion, which is made pretty clear-she "runs away with her abortionist" whose "knife has been stabbing baby angels in"; the "bloodroot" and "nightblooming sickle cell" are references to the aborted fetus. The majority of the lyrics sound like dialogue between a woman, the doctor, and a nurse as the abortion goes awry, and Courtney plays each of the parts. "Sister ectoplasma, incredulous, just like a pro she takes off her dress... It was me who found the lump" is her looking back to the conception of the child and discovering the pregnancy. As the song ends, the doctor/nurse asks her to "breathe," after which the prostitute, panting, says "Don't ever talk to me like that again." It's a genius song; surreal and multi-layered, and extremely disturbing. I've never heard anything else like it.
And of tuo did it you don t know how to listen gain after that periods but istituzionale the only one who can explain and form that asshole under giù nerd to be raped and fell in drugs then talk i hate talk like this is not a men song
If there was to be a music genre for edgy teenage rock, angst, rebellion, regret, anger and everything else this would be the music for it. Just seems like this style embodies it and fits that teenage lifestyle in someone's life perfectly
you totatly right :)It's like "King Volcano" of Bauhaus similar inspiration in this , this sound like "quiet room" by babes in toyland?. But BAUHAUS FIRST ♠
I love her voice! I don't know what it is about her but I love the screaming at the end of the song. Turn it way up to earthshaking volume... I know I know every time I say this, I hear about it. Not everyone agrees with me on this.
No, think about living with some1, u guys become one and pick up things after 1 another. She is the type of girl that does not copy. It's her way or no way!!! Deffinatly not a copy cat. She was already into the music and the seen. Kool so that a compliment then.

This is a great one.. but oh how it hurts to listen to the lyrics and how she sings them. The regret and anger that she spills out is huge..

To everyone saying the song sounds like Dark Entries by Bauhaus… yes, the riff is taken from Dark Entries, Courtney admits it.
The guitar on this one reminds me so much of the guitar riff in 'Dark Entries' by Bauhaus.
Underrated.
The best hole album.
the only Hole album imo
It truly is one of the best albums in the world. I also really love live through this. Softer softest always gets me
